A popular book series written by author Inglath Cooper is known as the Smith Mountain Lake series. It is comprised of a total of 3 books released between 2015 and 2017. The central characters mentioned in the series by Inglath include Gabby Hayden, Sam Tatum, Keegan Monroe, Bowie Dare, Talha Callahan, Jillie Andrews, etc. Inglath has set each of the three books in Virginia’s Smith Mountain Lake town. The debut book of this contemporary romance series is entitled ‘Blue Wide Sky’. It was released by the Fence Free Entertainment publication in 2015. Initially, Gabby Hayden is introduced as a 16-year-old girl living with her father. She had no interest in boys and instead loved water-skiing, dogs, and visiting the town of Smith Mountain Lake along with her dad. She ranked everything else second. Things begin to change for her when she met the handsome, smart and caring Sam Tatum.
Gabby started to see it as the most beautiful phase of her life. And just when Sam and Gabby are about to plan their future together, Sam learns about his father’s transfer to South Africa. Both Gabby and Sam become devastated at this news, but they promise each other to wait for the next two years until Sam comes back to join college. However, Sam becomes so angry and lonely that he commits a mistake that goes on to change the lives of both of them forever. Several years later, Sam returns to his hometown for an unexpected diagnosis. He hopes to find acceptance and peace. Instead, he finds Gabby, the girl he used to love and who has now turned into a woman. Gabby is not willing to Sam this time and is ready to make him believe that life and love are both worth fighting for.
The second book of the series is called ‘Dragonfly Summer’. It was published by the Createspace Independent publication in 2016. The primary characters featured in this novel include Keegan Monroe and Bowie Dare. This book opens by depicting that Keegan Monroe thinks she is to be blamed for the disappearance of her 19-year-old daughter. She decides to leave her successful career in Los Angeled behind and move to the quiet Smith Mountain Lake town. Keegan is determined to provide a different life for her children. Previously, her attention was more on trying to meet the physical needs of her children, providing them the best schools, and a life full of luxury. But now, she knows that she has to be present in their lives on a daily basis.
Keegan doesn’t want her son to lose his last year in high school like the last time and is determined to provide personal supervision to his studies. Bowie Dare is a former FBI agent and current thriller writer, who has come to Smith Mountain Lake as it suits his writing interests. For years, he had to face the evil section of society and reached a point where he decided to have a different type of existence. Bowie even lost his wife and regrets that he did not decide to leave the FBI soon. When Keegan arrives at Bowie’s door to ask for directions, they both get connected instantly. Their chance encounter makes them realize that there is still hope in the world and one can find love at any point in life.
