Johnstone stories have always been showcased and have a level of expectation and thrill, showcasing grappling well written and thoroughly thrilling stories. Having started as an assistant back then with his uncles, he made a hard working, studious student who in the chose to cultivate his love and passion for writing helping his uncle after school hours. Years went by and he became an extraordinary assistant, typist and researcher and an exceptional fact checker that make hi numerous twists all the more realistic.

Until the death of his uncle William Johnstone writing had been made a family affair, J. A Johnstone decide to continue writing under his uncle’s pen name venturing into the world of thrillers, horror, science fiction and historical fiction novels with experience and surety. Having ventured and poured himself in researching western history and modern war conflicts, it’s only after the writing of the loner he did identify himself as a writer back in 2009. Given that he learned to write from the legendary master himself, J. A Johnstone is continuously impressing with the development of west original shootouts in captivating stories keeping thousands f readers addicted. Books known to have written in continuation with his uncles numerous genres include;

Mountain man

This is continuation of the uncle’s series that started in 1977. The betrayal of the mountain man published in 2006 is a story revolving on Smoke Jessen, the fastest gun alive then. The development is regarding his determination to say at the right side of law until a despicable robbery of his clothes and by extension his identity that led to his framing for robbery and murder. Being the mountain man, he lives up to his name and things quickly turn ugly with him hell bend on clearing his name.

Eagles

The first book in series written by J. A Johnstone, crusade of the Eagles was published in 2006. The story focuses on MacCalister clan that was raised by harsh frontier but underneath it all revered blood bonds. With a family reunion upcoming, the family had to fight for fame and fortune. Following father mountain man legacy and the kidnap of their brother for ransom the family chooses to fight for family till death.

First mountain man

First series written by J. A john stone was the Preachers pursuit in 2009. The story centers on the preachers distraction due to the beauty and charisma of a lady wanting to build rail lines to a remote village. Unfolding events cause a preacher to forget his ways and almost causes destruction of whole mountain area that was once pristine and in wilderness. Due to greed, hungry criminals want all the gold for taking while facilitating Indian attacks that are out of control leading to him being the only one who can stand in their way and save them all

Last gunfighter

Published in 2007, the Hell town is beginning of series of the last gunfighter. Gunfire erupts in once a dying quiet town until the discovery of silver. Governors, outlaws all want a taste regardless of cost and it’s up to Morgan to make use of his badge and defend the town and locals, all this with him as the first target.

Blood bond

Published in 2008, Texas gun down is based on a story of unbreakable bond formed through blood configuring of wolves and half breeds. Life in sweet apple, Texas is nonetheless getting better by the day with people getting killed the order of the day. However revolutionary Mexicans have come to overtake the town and thus they risk it going off the map. With all at risk blood brothers Matt and Sam start their own fireworks and fight for their home.
Town called fury

First in the series of Town called fury is Hard country published in2007. This story revolves around a young attractive red head named Megan who keeps, Jason fury bound. With worst experienced in this town death is never far especially with barren lands, drought and Indian attacks that make him marshal and thus burdening the responsibility of the town.

Last mountain man

The Deadly rail is the first in the last mountain series. Story is about Matt Jensen, who is publicly rewarded for bravery in filing a train robbery. Due to that, outlaws are baying for blood and out of frustration kidnap the governor’s niece. With law on side he rides riding to be hero of day is the hero of the day in development hat is thrilling and ensures that a bad man stays down forever. Close with this is the publishing of Purgatory in 2008. In the first day in town an unavoidable gun fight leads to death of deputy and thus he is sentence to death. When the train derails he is set free but as fate would have it he would be back in a train to purgatory in his life as an outlaw with marshal hunting him.

Side winders

Published in 2008 the Side winders is a story of men who are wearing the badge for the first time. With attacks expected, the town s survival depends on two men who are not afraid to get hands dirty. With little knowledge on how law works, the sidewinders gather courage and defend their workstations while hoping luck would do the rest and protect them against raining bullets.

Loner

Being the first book that J. A Johnstone identified himself as a sole writer, the book was published in 2009. Development of story is about bloody showdown of outlaws that just gets better when discovery of enemy being closer gets bloody. Conrad Browning gets to visit his wife’s grave only to see his exfiane and get the surprise of his ex fiancée who is still green with envy and anger and wants revenge for his marrying another. The blame game for her father’s death ad involvement of gangs means one things; survival by the gun.

Blood valley

Published in 2009, Six ways from Sunday is about cotton, one of most skilled gun drawers of his time. Cotton is forced to do this once again when caught in a mine, life hanging from balance with a beautiful woman caught in between his mess and that of carter scruples. After that he does his bidding, picking one bullet, one person at a time.

Family Jensen

Trapped in remote cabin with ruthless gunmen baying for blood, a family has to join forces with old friend, preacher. With blood thirst present they have to fight for power, land, and wealth especially with professional killers hired by baron whose orders are simple; wipe out homesteads. Sharing of their fears, secrets, and hopes is in order to ensure they overcome the greatest challenge of their lives as surrender is not an option

   I love all of the frontier westerns by J.A. and Wm. Johnstone and would appreciate more being written in the Blood Bond Series and the Sixkiller US Marshall Series: love the humor, and although I myself am not indigenous, love the realistic view that not all indigenous were illiterate drunks.
   I started following the Johnstone books mainly for the incredible descriptions of geography and way of life in frontier days. I continue to follow their books today because the plots amazingly remain fresh and exciting.
