The Killings

The Killings is the first book in Oliver Miller Mysteries Series. It is during the fall in Olivia Miller’s senior college year when Mellisa together with her friends discover a crime scene in the living room when they attend a Halloween party. Curious they decide to investigate but getting involved in solving the mystery could end up putting Mellisa and her friends in great danger.

Mellisa and her friends have fallen victims to a serial killer leaving three of their friends dead. They embark on an epic journey to unravel the mysteries that surround them only being limited by fear of falling next victims. It is very evident that the killer is after male students giving Melissa and her friend’s clues on the serial killer. The girls embark on a journey that threatens their life though they are out to ensure that they catch the killer before things get out of hand. The murderer is cruel, and this instills fear in these friends.

As they take over the investigative work, it is clear that they are dealing with someone who will be ready to kill and comfortably do the same. Many suspects are lined up for the killings, but none seems to fit the description. Driven by anger and fear, they search multiple places and persons all after ensuring that they bring a halt to this murderer. The journey is tough, and at times, they feel like giving up but remembering the cruel acts done on their friends they soldier on to solve the mystery. The unexplained killings bring about many puzzles which seem to be interconnected but almost impossible to answer.
Understanding the relationship between the student killed and places where the crime took place is just a tip of the case. Slowly, they embark on a journey that will see them risking their lives but eventually solving everything.

It is an investigative case that will leave the reader yearning for more. It is a story that combines well-crafted characters, settings, and conversations to deliver a story that is awesome.

Red Julie

Red Julie is the second novel of the Olivia Miller Mystery Series. Aunt, Angie has raised Olivia miller from the age of one year. Just a few weeks to Olivia’s graduation, Angie passes on in an accident while riding a bicycle. The cause of her death is reported as a massive heart attack something that Olivia does not believe. She goes on to investigate and unravel the cause of her aunt’s death.

Being raised by her aunt, Olivia greatly adored her and knew her well which raised her suspicion in connection to her death. She finds it questionable when the death certificate lists the cause of Angie’s death as a heart attack. She dips her hands into solving this mystery and does not go long before another mystery strikes. While riding home, she comes across a man who has been involved in an accident. The man hands over a note and whispers the words red Julie. He does not survive the crash and dies on the scene.

Olivia is left with a huge mystery to solve. A man she never knew passes on a note plus the death of her aunt seems to be somehow related. She starts on an investigation to bring out the truth behind the two deaths which to her seem more of murders than accidents. Olivia is a determined though stubborn lady who will go to any extent to see that she gets what she wants. As stones are turned with the help of joe and brad, it comes to their attention that a series of people are involved in these mysteries.

Red Julie is a story that is suspenseful, funny at times and emotional in a way, the witty and thriller piece is one that will leave the reader thrilled.
The Stone Of Sadness

The Stone Of Sadness is the third story in the Olivia Mystery Series. Olivia has been used to a life of solving mysteries that seem hard and which many prefer to leave untouched. Staying at her cousin’s place in Howland, MA, Olivia finds pieces of newspapers that detail a crime in which the perpetrators were never brought to justice.

While Olivia is cleaning the attic, she finds pieces of newspapers that account the murder of a four-year-old girl and her mother which occurred forty years ago in the state park, Howland. Digging deeper she learns that the victims were family members and the person behind the murders was never arrested and brought to justice. She takes over the task of investigation to have the perpetrator arrested, and justice served for the slain persons. She digs into the past to understand everything that took place and get the person responsible.

Her investigations teach her a lot and give her some suspects while at the same time giving her one or two persons as her enemies as she gets closer to the truth. Olivia is the kind of lady that is never cowed down by any circumstance and will go to any extent to see justice served. Deep in the investigations, she also has to deal with her problems especially the tragic loss of her aunt.

J.A Whiting has crafted characters that will keep you tensed as together with the main characters go through the events to a surprising end. The story flows smoothly to a climax keeping the reader drawn to the events from one page to the other. The mystery is well done with incidences that seem too real to be fictional.

The story has lots of suspense making it a haunting read. The characters are slowly but articulately developed to keeping the reader engaged to the end. The light and enjoyable read are one to try out.
