JC Andrijeski is a Wall Street Journal and USA Today bestselling author of apocalyptic fiction and paranormal mysteries. She has made a name for herself writing stories with a metaphysical, romantic and sexy bent.
She has published articles, novels, essays and sh0rt stories and her work has been featured in monk punk and horror anthologies and one of her children’s fiction works was published in 1000 Sorrows by Ogner Stump. She is also the author of a graphic novel with a setting in the Bridge series of novels.
Andrijeski has also penned screenplays from time to time and also written non fiction articles on a range of topics from history, graffiti art, journalism, psychology and mediation.
She currently makes her home in Los Angeles California though she has lived in Mcleodganj in India and Bangkok in Thailand.
Andrijeski was born and brought up in a very small town called Saratoga that is nestled in the lower reaches of the Santa Cruz Mountains in California. She has a Political Science masters degree even though for the most part she studied colonial politics and history.
The subjects she loved best were caste systems, slavery, religion and social movements. She has always had an interest in what motivates people in groups in terms of power struggles, differences, rebellions and beliefs. She also has a love for travel and has lived in many places over the years including Florida, Poland, New Mexico, London, Albuquerque, Australia, Seattle, New York, Portland, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Santa Cruz and Los Angeles.
In her earlier years, she was a waitress for more than a decade before she found a job in the corporate world. She would spend more than fifteen years as project consultant and high level project manager in IT and healthcare. Other jobs she has held over the years include bartender in England, mucking stables, photo printer and photographer.
JC Andrijeski has been telling stories pretty much ever since she was but a child. She started when she was about six or seven years old but only got serious about it in adulthood. She had done it for quite a while and had several manuscripts until she decided to stop playing around and try to make a career of it.
While she has written a dozen or so novellas and short stories and several novels, she had never submitted to an agent or publisher. At this point, she had some experience with business writing and working as a journalist but did not believe that she was that good of a fiction author.
Her timing was quite good as just at the time when she decided to become serious the ebook revolution was blowing up and she got a lot of interest from editors and agents. Since she had a lot of editors and agents wanting to sign her up, she was confident that her work was good and decided to go indie.
This way she could avoid the contractual mess that usually results from ebook royalties, small advances and rights reversion clauses. These are problems that many writers with professional contracts have to deal with when dealing with traditional publishing houses.
Given her business background she knew she could hack self publishing and she published Maya Papaya, her debut novel in 2012.
“Black in White” by JC Andrijeski is the story of Quentin Black a suspect and Miri Fox, a psychologist. Miri has an uncanny gift that helps her read people which means she gets to work freelance as a police profiler.
When the police believe they finally found the Wedding Killer they call upon her to use her gifts to find out what makes him tick. But Quentin Black is nothing like what she thought he would be as he asserts that he is also on the hunt for another killer.
The longer Miri interacts with the man the more she is intrigued by what he seems to be hiding. Not long after Quentin asks her to tell him about her bizarre insights into people. Seeking to develop a deeper connection Miri soon gets pulled into his world and is soon deep in a deadly game of cat and mouse with a dangerous killer that might just be her newest friend.
But then she finds herself strongly attracted to Black which is quite a complication. She has a boyfriend who works in intelligence and a homicide cop for a best friend. Will she manage to get out of the situation or will her future be destroyed by her association with Black.
JC Andrijeski’s “Black As Night” continues with the story of Black and Miri Fox. She is in a rage after he disappeared for more than a month without any communication. He had made all kinds of indications and promises that made her believe that he intended to have more with her but she is now left frustrated.
But then she had received one of his bizarre calls telling her that she should go to him in Bangkok. He will be sending a car over in ten minutes and had already instructed one of his assistants to cancel her clients and pack her cases. He is still the typical Quentin Black that gets what he wants done with minimal fuss.
Miri is tired, furious and jet lagged when they finally meet in Asia but Black’s charisma pulls her to him and it is not long before they are kissing passionately. But she still needs to lay traps, rescue a child, find a killer and before long they are in the middle of a huge drama none of them prepared for.
“Black on Black” by JC Andrijeski opens to Miri all alone in San Francisco after Black all of a sudden goes missing. They had recently come back from Bangkok before he disappeared and nobody knows where he went or what he is doing even though he seems to have a mysterious new contract working for some unknown people.
He has been dropping cryptic hints and she only has breadcrumbs to work with. But even as they have very little contact she can feel him everyday.
From her waking life and in her dreams she feels the man. But then her life starts spinning out of control particularly when the relationship between Black and the man he is working for begins to break down. He will not admit that he is in danger or that his employer is running him through the gauntlet.
Black has to prove that he is loyal to Lucky Lucifer who is quite the psychopath that controls a weird and very mysterious cult with European roots. Miri thinks Black’s life is in danger and wants to save him but to do that she has to do things she had sworn never to do and expose herself in life changing ways.
