J.C. Ryan is a thriller suspense and mystery author that is best known for the “Rossler Foundation” and “Carter Devereux” series of novels. Before he became an author, he was a military officer through and through as he holds a military degree. He was an officer for seven years and it was only a crippling back injury that finally forced him out. Out in the world, he went back to college this time studying the law and becoming an attorney. He would then run a highly successful legal practice for more than one and a half decades before he decided to move abroad and change careers once again. This time he became a project manager at an IT company and it was at this time aged 54 that he decided to pursue his lifelong dream of becoming an author. Ryan believed that the experience and knowledge he had accumulated working three careers on three continents would come in handy in his writing. In 2014, he published “The Tenth Cycle,” his debut novel and first of the “Rossler Foundation” series. The novel went on to become a commercial and critically acclaimed success and he went on to become a bestselling author. He now has more than thirty titles in the “Rossler Foundation,” “Carter Devereux,” “Exonerated,” “Brainstorm,” and “Rex Dalton” series of novels. He got married to his college sweetheart in 1978 and together they have two daughters. Ryan currently makes his home in Gold Coast Australia and when he is not writing his novels he likes to travel the world.

While J.C. Ryan was working as an IT Manager, he found that he had a regular three-hour commute on the train. While he loved sitting and staring out the window at the beautiful landscape rushing by, it got old after a few weeks and he thought he needed to find something to do during those commutes. He got a tablet and started reading news, books, and browsing the internet instead of just staring out the window. Soon enough, it hit him that since he was working as a contractor, he was losing fifteen hours every week that he was not getting paid for. He thought why not use that time to do what he had always wanted to do – write a book. Starting in December 2013, he started researching on the train and writing his manuscripts and was surprised to learn that he had more than 60 hours every week to work on his dream. This was a week and a half worth of work and he would add more onto that on the weekends and evenings since he loved writing so much and would get lost in the stories. At some point, he realized that he had to plan his writing to allow time for leisure and some with family. As a project manager, he soon worked out as a schedule but kicked it up a notch to 20,000 words every week once he quit to become a full-time writer.

Ryan has always been interested in history which explains why the “Carter Devereux” and “Rossler Foundation Mysteries” have an archeological theme. Taking inspiration from Churchill’s assertions that it is always the victorious who get to write history, Ryan seeks to tell the entire story. However, the issue is that knowledge can get twisted and lost over time which can lead to conformity, particularly in the field of archeology. It is almost impossible for any new discovery or theory to be accepted unless it conforms to the current theories and ways of thinking. This results in the twisting or wishing away of many good ideas and theories that could enrich or radically transform current knowledge. He became interested and was inspired to write his very popular “Rossler Foundation Mysteries” with all its technologies and code breaking while watching TV. The program was about the history of the Great Pyramids of Egypt. According to the experts on the show, modern Egyptologists were wrong about how the pyramids had been built. After doing some further research, he thought that he could put some spin on the idea and a few months later, he had the manuscript for his debut “The Tenth Cycle” which he would later expand into the “Rossler Foundation” series.

“The 10th Cycle” by J.C. Ryan is the thrilling story of how human history has been exploited and suppressed for millennia. For tens of years, scholars had asserted that inside the Great Pyramid of Giza was the truth about human history, even though finding it had so far proven elusive. Many that had attempted the quest had been persecuted and ridiculed. Will Dr. Sarah Clarke and Daniel Rossler be let into the pyramid to find out the true and real message. The closer they come to the truth, the more skeptical the academic community becomes. What is even worse is that they have to deal with malicious and outright evil detractors from the community. They soon find themselves in a hostile world where duplicity, deceit, and violence are commonplace. The Mossad, the mysterious Orion Society, with its psychopathic and deranged members, the Marines, the CIA, and even the US President get involved in it. Many of the people involved have bad intentions and this makes for a provocative techno-thriller about conspiracies, human history, and an ancient society with money and power that will not stop in the pursuit of its disturbing goals.

J.C. Ryan’s “Ninth Cycle Antarctica” is set in 2002, where the American Department of Defense sends a secret and special Navy SEAL team to Antarctica to find and rescue a lost film crew. No trace of the crew is found except for strange footage of bizarre artifact seemingly buried under the ice shelf. All the people that had seen the tapes are told to never speak of them again. Ten years after the incident, Professor Charles Summers of Boulder, Colorado is fascinated when he finds a map from the 16th century that shows the Antarctica coastline so accurately, it boggles the mind. Even NASA has to update its maps since they are not as accurate. The strange thing is that the map was made three centuries before Antarctica was discovered. It had always been believed that the continent had been covered by ice for more than 200 million years but it seems some intelligent beings had walked on it a few centuries ago. Could the remains of an ancient civilization lie under the ice? The Rossler Foundation readies an expedition to head to the continent to investigate and try to find any hints of civilization. When the Orion Society hears of the expedition, it immediately mobilizes its resources intending to sabotage or at least infiltrate the expedition.

In “Genetic Bullets,” by J.C. Ryan, a thirty-five millennia-old city is discovered when scientists excavate some sites in the Transantarctic Mountains. But the discovery also brings with it a worldwide pandemic that kills 5 million within weeks, with another 10 million seriously ill. If nothing is done, billions will be dead within months. The strange thing is that the disease only infects people from one ethnic group and some world leaders believe it may be a genetically modified biological weapon developed for committing genocide. They have convinced their people that enemy governments have ganged up against them and as such, they need to band up and go to war. This just makes things worse and it is clear that the human race is now close to extinction. The globe is in the grip of political and economic chaos, anarchy is on the rise as the stock markets crashed and had to be shut down. Drastic ethnic and political solutions are discussed and then executed, which results in open warfare that affects more than half of the globe. It looks like Armageddon just may be here.

One Response to “J.C. Ryan”

I enjoyed reading the background and current life of JC Ryan. I’ve started with the Carter Devereux series. It is interesting reading facts and fiction. Since JC is a veteran, he gets two thumbs-up. A lot of the writing reminds me of past experiences in foreign countries. It’s fun to write about what you know and adds ideas, like being a kid, again.
    Thanks, JC.
