J M Dabney is a crime, romance, gay, and lesbian American bestselling author best known for his Brawlers Trenton World and Twirled World Ink book series. Dabney was born and raised in Charlottesville, Virginia. As a multi-published author of Body and Fat Positive Romance fiction, they live with a diverse cast of characters and ensure that everyone gets the happily ever after they deserve. They are only focused on one mission in writing, ensuring that love conquers everything regardless of the package the characters come in or how damaged they are. Additionally, they believe that normal is never normal and the most heartbroken person can still be beautiful from the inside. Dabney is non-binary and hence uses they/them pronouns.
Francis Livingston, popularly known as Liv, was a beast. People always avoided him no matter the gear he wore, either tactical or nicely tailored suits. He was the man always willing to volunteer for jobs only a man with a death wish would want. But for Livingstone, tomorrows are never guaranteed. One day, his boss, Linus, offered him a job. Linus knew the type of jobs Liv loved, but everything changed when he opened the file.
Fielding Haskell has navigated his way into the world with his look. He had landed a movie role even before he could read a script. But he never wanted fame; instead, he wanted a man who never saw the beauty in him. Unfortunately, his fanbase only cared how handsome he was, which earned him personal security and a vacation. He looked forward to ending his vacation until his eye met the man in charge of his security, and he wondered if the danger he left back home was worth dealing with an instant attraction to a man colder than ice.
While Livingstone is the first book in the Trenton Security series, its entire cast of established supporting characters from another series by J.M. Dabney. All the boys in this book have been through some trauma in their lives, but the one that comes close to what Liv has been through is the Joker but not as tough as Liv. This is a triggering book with physical, emotional and mental abuse themes. The story also deals with an attempted murder that Liv experienced at the hands of his mother. So it has both physical and psychological scars.
Livingstone has had one hell tough life courtesy of his mother and her cult. Throughout his life, he has tried to get the physical scars fixed, but unfortunately, there’s nothing the doctors can do. Liv has physical scars that he can see through the mirror and emotional and mental scars that the people around him further amplify. Although he would never admit it, Liv is always jealous of the relationships that have budded around him. Everyone in the town knows he has a death wish, which is why he accepts the jobs they offer him. But now, he has landed a babysitting job, something he’s not used to; he is to spend four months with a spoiled rich kid, or else does he think?
What Liv doesn’t plan is on falling in love with the spoiled rich kid immediately after they meet and wishing that he was his. But what Liv sees in himself are his scars and rage. What type of man in his right mind would love a man scarred both on the outside and the inside? But he doesn’t see what fielding the rich kid sees. Fielding sees the beauty beneath the scars and how the scars make a man. All Fielding wants for the vacation period is to stay with Liv because he feels at home with Liv. But a crazy stalker isn’t letting his guard down. First, the stalker tried to get rid of Livingstone and kidnap Fielding. But will Liv and Fielding take out this stalker so they can have a peaceful happily ever after, or will the stalker blow up everything in their faces?
Crave is the first book in the Brawlers series by J.M. Dabney and a spin-off from the Twirled World Ink series. Even though it’s unnecessary to read the Twirled series, it’s highly recommended that you do because the characters are entwined and have built their crazy and protective family. There is never a boring moment at Brawlers Bar- the customers are crazy, just like the staff, and no night passes without a fight or hell breaking loose.
For Crave, when he left home, he was motivated by the need never to stop running. It all worked perfectly for him until he stopped by the Brawlers Bar and was offered a job. This was among the first things that altered the course of his life. His childhood was abusive, and the effects of that abuse still haunt him. He is one giant hell of a quick-tempered man and doesn’t trust himself to any form of relationship, or so he thought until Twitch entered the Brawlers Bar and became his workmate. That was the second thing to alter the course of his life.
Twitch is small and also feminine and appears entirely out of place working at a bar as tough as Brawlers, yet he is more than capable of holding his own and knows every cocktail in existence. As his parents abandoned their support for him due to his homosexuality, he became acquainted with this group of guys. They began attempting to dictate how their son would spend his life years earlier by sending him to conversion treatment, where he was subjected to abuse. The atrocities he endured continue to haunt him, and he bears the scars of what those experiences caused him. Due to his numerous physical and sex-related concerns, Twitch is accustomed to the reality that he’ll never be the best man for the guy he desires.
Watching the pair get together is interesting as they are both so different and worry about relationships. As with the Twirled World Ink novels, the Brawlers series is a caffeine firecracker of amazing.

BOOK OF THE MONTH:
He's one of my favourite standalone thriller authors, and you better believe if he is releasing a book, it's going to be our book of the month!
Not A Word is the latest chilling thriller written by Linwood Barcly. A man visits his parents house only to discover them dead. What appears to be a murder-suicide is apparently so much more. And just as the man is taking it all in, he receives a phone call that's going to change everything.
