Embattled Hearts
Embattled Hearts is the first installment in the Lost and Found book series by author J.M Madden. In Embattled Hearts, author J.M Madden introduces the readers to John Palmer, the protagonist who got injured while serving his country in Iraq. After getting injured while in Iraq, Madden has never felt like a real man. Despite the fact that John Palmer is not content with his new life, he is adapting quite well, just like all the others ex-service men in Lost and Found Inspective Service. When one, Shannon Murphy is hired as the new office manager, life begins to get a little bit more interesting for John Palmer. It does not take long before; John Palmer begins to wonder whether he is going to be the man that Shannon Murphy is looking for. When she was contracted to work for the Lost and Found, Shannon Murphy was not exactly looking for love. However, immediately after being contracted, Shannon Murphy finds herself attracted to John Palmer, the former marine.
Apart from being grumpy, John Palmer is also impossible to work with. However, John’s brand of masculinity appeals to Shannon Murphy, on a basic level. Later on, Shannon begins to wonder what it was going to take John Palmer, to want her, the way she wants him. As time goes by, an old enemy tries to have his revenge on Shannon; John Palmer steps up and takes Shannon under her wings. To ensure that Shannon is safe at all times, John Palmer decides to relocate in her house. In the process, John Palmer ignites more sparks between him and Shannon. Nonetheless, the danger continues to escalate as the days go by. Will the connection that is present between Shannon and John survive when these two characters are thrown at the center of a fight? Madden has included a mystery which surrounds Shannon that the Lost and Found Crew must be able to solve. As expected the characters have to face various challenges.
Readers are going to fall in love with the overall team effort that all the main characters contribute. With that said, Embattled Hearts is a narrative about John learning to accept help from other people. Author, J.M Madden has creatively described the emotions, insecurities, feelings and the various challenges the veterans have to deal with, when they return from the army. Despite the fact that Embattled Hearts was fascinating and interesting, there are moments when the narrative will invoke a feeling of sadness.
Embattled Minds
Embattled Minds is the second installment in the Lost and Found book series. In Embattled Minds, author J.M Madden introduces the readers to Zeke Foster. Despite being tall and good looking, Zeke Foster has very little or no experience with women, especially after he was injured while serving in Afghanistan. Because Zeke is brutally scarred, he does not believe that he is going to find a woman, who will accept him, the way that he is. Despite the various challenges that Zeke faces, he still has his eye on one woman, one Ember Norton. Ember is a waiter who serves at Zeke’s usual watering den. Up to this point in the book, Ember has already gotten used to disaster as her life turns from one devastating disaster into another. When a scarred soldier, with extremely kind eyes, brings some sense of security into Ember’s life, Ember is more than afraid to trust her luck.
For quite a long time, Ember has been self-sufficient and so far has done extremely well with no one in her life. However, Zeke’s wounded soul calls to Ember, and in the process, Ember finds herself falling for Zeke. With that said, Embattled Minds is a charming narrative. Author Madden has done a fantastic job of researching some of the issues and challenges that veterans normally face after returning home from war. Despite the fact that Embattled Hearts has an element of surprise, Embattled Minds is a straightforward contemporary narrative. The subplot, which involves a homeless Aiden, and several other vets who are also part of the Lost and Found team, gives more scope for future narratives in the series.
A Needful Heart
A Needful Heart is another highly entertaining book by author J.M Madden. For more than a month, Matt Calvin has been watching Gina walk up and down the doctor’s office. Four years down the line, Matt Calvin feels that it is a high time that he should do something about his fascination. Matt Calvin knows that he is not best suited for a relationship; however, he does not expect the relationship to get far at all. Calvin just needs to talk to Gina, and be able to pull himself out of the misery. As expected, do not go as he had planned. When his fantasy burns and crashes to reality, Gina, has to pay the ultimate price. Gina does not blame Matt Calvin for her injury at all. On the contrary, Gina is more than grateful that Matt stepped into her life to help her out.
Once the two got close, the attraction between these two characters eventually turns into something beautiful. Gina cannot believe that she has overlooked Matt Calvin for such a long time. Apart from being, intimidating, Matt Calvin has tattoos all over his body. The tattoos and the grumpy nature, in turn making him the type that she is not normally drawn to. Nonetheless, there is just something about Matt Calvin that makes Gina string along.
