At the start of the book, it is shown that Jack Keller is tormented by his nightmares that he acquired since the day he went through the Desert Storm’s disastrous tour. Destroyed by the experience, Jack Keller now earns his living by working for a company called H&H, that hires him to track down bail jumpers. The H&H is a bail bond company is based in North Carolina and is headed by a beautiful, horribly scarred, and reclusive woman named Angela. In reality, Jack Keller does not live by working bail enforcement, his work is what he lives for. Keller feels that his work is the only thing that helps to break the numbness of his life. He likes the thrill involved in a hunt, a gunfire’s sound, and the satisfying high that he feels after each of his successful takedown.

When Keller is given a similar task by H&H of tracking down a loser for jumping his bail on the charges of a routine burglary, he does not seem to have any idea as to how his life is going to spiral out of control because of the upcoming events. His chase of the quarry takes Keller straight in the middle of firestorm that involves a couple of local residents from the Indian community, who are hell bent to avenge the murder of their father. Along the path, the Indians come across a vicious cop from North Carolina who has very less moral values. They also encounter the beautiful partner of the cop, named Marie, who seems caught between her newly found desire for Jack Keller and the loyalty towards the police department that has serious problems of ethics. All these people hurtle forward on the individual path of self-destruction and start intersecting the lives of each other in a series of escalating, deadly, and volatile events. The book turns out to be an interesting read with its excellently drawn and unforgettable characters, furious pace, and intriguing storyline. Another mindblowing novel published in the thriller series is called as ‘God Day In Hell’. It was published by the Minotaur Books in 2006. Author J.D. Rhoades has described the main characters in this book’s story as Jack Keller, Marie Jones, and Laurel Marks. At the beginning of the story, it is depicted that Jack Keller continues to work as bail enforcement officer. He is involved in doing some tracing work on a young lady, who is believed to have gotten involved with a wrong man. Keller works on the tracks’s right side to keep a watch on her activities. This woman, Laurel Marks, does not attract Jack Keller’s history with her history. The only thing that he knows is that Laurel has violated her parole and is wanted for the act. He seems interested only in his paycheck, which depends on how well he keeps a track on her and finally catches her. In the meantime, Jack’s current girlfriend and the deputy of the sheriff, Marie Jones, is asked to arrive at a crime scene of a brutal murder. She comes to know that the owner of a gas filling station has been killed with a point black gunshot on his face. Upon investigating, Marie Jones learns that the owner’s stepson was also present at the time of his murder, who has now gone missing. Along with him, the cash from the register has also vanished. Even though it looks as if the stepson is the murderer and has run away with the cash, something in Marie Jones’s mind tells her to wait for things to clear a little bit more before jumping to conclusions.

Later, it comes to the notice of Marie Jones and Jack Keller that a merciless and bloody killer spree has been set in motion in the church located on the country’s other side. It does not look like Keller’s tracking of Laurel Marks and Marie’s kidnapping/murder case investigation are related to the killing spree. Soon, the media gets involved and things undergo a drastic change. The media ends up making a great mess of the situation that reveals just what Marie Jones, Jack Keller, and all the other peace officer from the North Carolina state feel afraid to believe. They learn that 3 people have become extremely angry because of the whole turn of events. They have equipped themselves with heavy arms and are ready to attack at any point of time. The interesting plot of the novel helped cement author Rhoades’s reputation as one of the prominent authors of thriller and action packed novels. Just like the previous book in the series, this one too depicts nonstop action and suspense that keeps the readers on the edge of their seats and intrigued until the very last page. Many critics have said that the story grabs the attention of the readers right from its first sentence. Moreover, it carries forward with its intriguing set of characters and suspenseful storyline. The book is regarded as one of those that you would want to hold on to till the very end. Its non-stop action sequences and thriller setup helped it to gather more audiences with its increasing publicity from the mouths of those who already it. This book tends to examine the motivations and causes behind the violent behavior of individuals and their effects on the lives of others.
