Before author Jack McSporran put pen to paper and began writing fiction, he earned a degree in business and worked in the mind-numbing finance industry.

Now that he is free from the binds of a normal job, he spends his time daydreaming and penning his stories. He is also the founder and creative director of Inked Entertainment, the story studio.

When Jack is not writing, he likes to travel to get inspiration, always on watch for the ideal setting for future work. He lives in a small town in Scotland and loves the always chilly weather there.

Jack writes the “Maggie Black” series of thriller novels, as well as the prequel novella series called “Maggie Black Case Files”. His debut novel, called “Kill Order”, was released in the year 2017.

“Vendetta” is the first novel in the “Maggie Black Case Files” series, and was released in the year 2017. The Mafia. Venice. A drug deal that went wrong.

After a British covert intelligence agency finds out about an impending drug deal between the Venetian mafia and one of the most notorious importers of the UK. Agent Maggie Black is sent in to stop it.

Using the alias of an American drug lord, Maggie has to infiltrate the crime family and keep their product from hitting British soil. A feat that gets more complex after her old flame and colleague Leon gets sent along with Maggie.

Maggie will quickly be tossed into the middle of a vicious war that spans multiple generations. While blood gets spilled and the reek of death lingers across all the lagoons, and the failed mission becomes the least of her worries. Since somebody has got a score to settle and they are not going to allow Maggie to stand right in their way.

Readers found this to be an exciting prequel that moves quickly, packed with a lot of action, and is a ton of fun. Maggie is a kick ass and sassy heroine that was a blast to follow around on this adventure. Fans were engaged from beginning to end.

“Kill Order” is the first novel in the “Maggie Black” series, and was released in the year 2017. Beautiful. Lethal. On the run.

Secret agent Maggie Black agrees to protect the Mayor of London, she believes she is in for just a boring night of babysitting. The easy job gets tougher after an assassin shows up and takes the Mayor out, and frames Maggie as the killer.

Maggie, who is unable to explain all the evidence against her, is branded as a traitor and is now being hunted by the same people she used to fight against. Without anyone else to turn to, Maggie relies on the only person who has always had her back. Herself.

From the dark streets of Moscow to the hidden nightclubs in Madrid, Maggie has to dive into the depths of the criminal underworld in order to unearth the truth and quickly, too. Time is running short and the enemy has gotten much closer than she thought.

Maggie is an engaging and brilliant lead character and readers found her to be relatable despite being a hitman. Fans totally enjoyed the writing and pacing. Jack’s writing was highly descriptive and got readers caught up in the fight scenes, visualizing the landscape of the gorgeous countries, laugh at all the sarcasm, and wanting to see how the emotional conversations would play out.

“Hit List” is the second novel in the “Maggie Black” series, and was released in the year 2019. Blackmail. A major security breach. A list of names with lethal consequences.

Her former agency gets hacked by an elusive crime syndicate, and Maggie Black enjoys the carefree civilian life. Then she finds out the names of the agents of the agency, both past and present, are getting leaked by the hackers, one at a time, until their notorious boss gets released from prison.

While the government refuses to negotiate with the blackmailers, she gets forced out of retirement and pulled back into the dangerous life of espionage she swore she would leave behind. Her name is on the list, too, so are the people she cares about the most.

While the bodies of agents start piling up, Maggie risks everything to hunt down the hackers. From the seedy red-light district in Amsterdam to the war-torn streets in Somalia, Maggie has to race against the clock before he dark past ruins her chances at a future.

Jack delivers a nail biter of a novel that kept some readers on the edge of their seats, just wondering what would happen next. The novel is packed with suspense and action the entire way through, and readers never wanted to step away from it all. Fans enjoy the interactions the three lead characters have with each other, while they seem to grow with each story.

“Payback” is the third novel in the “Maggie Black” series, and was released in the year 2020. Maggie Black has been settling into life after being a government hitman. Deeply in love and finally content with Leon, her partner, she is ready to open her own secret agency in order to put her special skills to use and help out those in need, on her own terms. Getting out is not as easy she first hoped, though, and her past comes back and haunts her, stopping any plans to start over.

Nina, a former colleague and now an enemy, is looking for blood and comes out of hiding in a most devastating way possible. It shakes Maggie right to the core and it ruins any opportunity that she had at happiness. Blinded by grief and overwhelmed with rage, she sets out to end their rivalry one way.

Maggie tracks her enemy from some familiar haunts in Russia to the rural moors in Ireland, and she is on the warpath and determined to get revenge. She has to be careful to not allow her emotions overwhelm her, since Nina is back and in full force and has not come alone.
