Jae is an award-winning and bestselling romance fiction novelist from Freiburg Germany. In addition to her romance fiction novels, she writes in a variety of genres from historical, crime, and paranormal fiction.
She has often said that the reason for writing in so many genres is that she does not want to pigeonhole herself as an author, even though most of her works have a strong romance plot.
Before she became a novelist, Jae was a psychologist who gave up her job in 2013 and became a part-time editor and full-time writer, which she thinks is the best job in the world.
She now spends most of her time in the old city of Freiburg where she writes.
Jae thinks it is a city that provides the best of both worlds with its medieval alleys, cobblestones, and Bachle of the old city combined with the eco-conscious, liberal, and modern university town full of international students.
She makes her home on the edge of the city with two lakes, a river, and a lot of stunning views within walking distance. Nonetheless, she can also take a streetcar and in 10 minutes reach stores, cinemas, and restaurants.
When she is not writing her novels, she loves to read sapphic books, watch crime shows, and indulge in office supplies and ice cream addictions.
Jae was just eleven when she got bit by the writing bug. During her teenage and childhood years, she was a huge lover of fantasy and science fiction novels and it was from these that she developed a passion for storytelling.
However, the rosy-tinted glasses of life as an author were slapped off her face when she realized that most writers could not make a good living from their works.
As such, when Jae went to college, she decided to become a psychologist as she was not ready to risk it all by becoming a writer.
It was while she was working as a psychologist that she began writing and it was not long before she had five titles under her belt. With each work, she sold more novels and built a bigger following.
In 2012, she joined Ylva Publishing and began to sell a ton more books. Suddenly, her lifelong dream of one day writing full-time started coming closer and looked less like a pipe dream.
With some money saved up, she quit her job in 2013 to become a full-time author. On the day she quit her job, she felt like she was the luckiest person on the planet and still does to this day.
While life as a full-time author is never easy as she never has many days off or regular weekends like most normal people, she would never give it up for anything.
Outside of her work as a writer, Jae also works as a senior editor for Ylva Publishing. While editing is not something that she planned on getting into when she quit her job to become an author in 2013, she has now found much enjoyment in it.
The opportunity all came from back in 2010, when she beta-read the manuscript of a fellow writer Astrid Ohltez, who would become the CEO and owner of Ylva Publishing.
As Astrid’s adviser right from the start, she loved that she had some lofty goals, which convinced her to join her in 2012 as an editor and author.
As an editor, she is also involved in the mentorship of new authors and it is not only about improving their manuscripts.
Since she had always loved mentorship and teaching, she focuses on teaching writers what they need to do with their books but also how to further their careers.
She also finds that mentoring and editing are a great way to give back to her community, which has always been an important thing for Jae.
Jae’s novel “Departure from the Script” is the story of Michelle Osinski a photographer and Amanda Clark an aspiring actress.
The two women have been burned by love and are not interested in going back to the fire and even if they were willing, it would not be with each other.
Michelle could not be any more butch while Amanda has never been attracted to that type. Since she just got a role on TV, she decides to focus on developing her career rather than bring in unneeded complications.
Following a chaotic breakup with her ex who was a starlet, Michelle vows to never date an actress ever again. She is not willing to let another high-maintenance woman into her life again and when she meets Amanda, she believes she is just that type.
However, following a very bizarre date and some encouragement from Amanda’s grandmother, they begin to wonder if maybe they ought to take the plunge.
“Damage Control” by Jae tells the story of Grace Durand, who has been an actor ever since she could talk and has finally made it in Hollywood.
But then a photo of her in some very compromising situation with some woman leaks and she thinks that her career as a lead in romance movies is all but over.
What she needs is a PR person to convince the nation that she is not a lesbian. The best publicist is Lauren Pearce, a woman who knows all about Hollywood and who also happens to be a lesbian.
She has been dealing with publicity nightmares and doing damage control for years. Over her long career, she has dealt with all manner of spoiled and rich clients and thinks this will just be another one of those.
However, the more time she spends with Grace, the more her attitude toward her starts to change as she is nothing like her TV persona. She had never planned on getting involved with her client as it would just serve to ruin Grace’s career.
Still, they cannot deny or resist the growing attraction between them, even as they navigate the paparazzi gauntlet.
Jae’s novel “Just Physical,” tells the story of Jill Corrigan, a twenty-five-year-old who has just been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, which she is certain makes her undateable.
Since she does not want to become a burden to someone who would want to date her, she decides that she is better off building her acting career instead.
But then she meets Kristine “Crash” Patterson the stunt woman while working on a disaster movie set. Her easy smile and easygoing nature get to Jill who starts wishing things were different.
In the meantime, Crash is a woman trained to fall but she never expected that she would fall in love. While their feelings for each other have been growing, Jill resolves to let her new friend crash into her bed but intends to keep her out of her heart.
On and off the camera, they begin playing with fire but will they be able to keep their affair just physical?
