James Hunt is an English author of fiction. Born in 1964 in Surrey, England, his full name is James Patrick Hunt. He graduated with a degree in aerospace engineering from St. Louis University in 1986. In addition to being a writer of print and e-books, he has worked full-time as a lawyer.

Hunt graduated in 1992 from Marquette University Law School and went on to work in the field for quite some time and has not stopped yet. He currently resides in Tulsa, Oklahoma, spending his time writing when he is not practicing law.

James Hunt officially became a published author with the 2005 release of his book, Maitland. The book is the first in the Evan Maitland series of fiction. This mystery series is full of adventure and focuses on the adventures of the main character, who is named Evan Maitland (as you may have guessed). Maitland works as a seller of antiques and as a bounty hunter part-time after being pushed out of being a cop in Chicago thanks to fake corruption charges.

The series debut was followed up by the release of the second novel a year later, titled Maitland Under Siege. The third book is titled Maitland’s Reply and came out in 2009. The fourth book in the series came out two years later and is called Get Maitland. If you loved the Jason Bourne series or action and thriller novels, you’ll love this exciting series from respected author James Hunt.

Hunt is also the author of the Lieutenant George Hastings series. There are five books in the series, starting with The Betrayers and concluding with Bullet Beth, released in 2011. The series is a mystery crime thriller that features the adventures of Lieutenant George Hastings as he solves a variety of cases.

James Hunt has also penned the Dan Bridger series, which readers were first able to get their hands on in 2010 with the debut of the first book in the series, appropriately titled Bridger. Police and Thieves is the title of the second novel, and both cover the adventures of a highly skilled jewel thief.

Besides writing many mystery and crime thriller novels and series, Hunt has also written a few standalone novels. These started with the 2006 release of his novel Before They Make You Run. Reinhardt’s Mark came out in 2012, and James Hunt followed those up with several more novels, including The Detective and The Reckoning.

Maitland is the first book in the Evan Maitland series. It features main character Evan Maitland, who has the unique jobs of a full-time antique salesman and bounty hunter. He is the operator and co-owner of Collette’s Antiques, a small store in Chicago. When he’s not selling antiques to interested parties, he makes a living as a bounty hunter and bail enforcement agent.

When he’s approached about a job, he thinks that it will be easy enough. He’s been hired by a bail bondsman to bring back Barry McDermott, who has skipped out on his bond. What makes Evan think that this bounty gig will be easy is the fact that McDermott isn’t violent or a huge threat. But when the simple retrieval gets more complex, all bets are off.

Bary is a lawyer that has been charged with statutory rape and is likely more frightened than he is frightening. But the bounty hunter and salesman has no idea that the whole reason that Barry was able to escape is that he paid for it with cash. That cash happens to be stolen from the local Jamaican gang.

When a gunfight starts up later, Maitland kills a man in self-defense, and he is shot and injured. Maitland recovers from his injury and tries to put things back together, all the while knowing that someone out there wants him dead. Is it the Posse, or is it another outside party? Maitland knows that someone out there has his number, but he has little going for him other than a fellow Chicago policewoman having his back.

Meanwhile, Jamaican Posse wants the lawyer dead at all costs, and Maitland very well may be caught in the middle. Can he track down Barry McDermott and get him back to where he needs to be? Or will the Jamaican gang catch up with the lawyer before the bounty hunter can get to him? Pick up the exciting debut novel in the Maitland series by James Hunt to find out!

Maitland Under Siege is the second book in the Evan Maitland series by James Hunt. The antique seller and part-time bounty hunter and bail enforcement agent Evan Maitland is back, and there is no shortage of work waiting for him. Fresh off a case involving accused lawyer Barry McDermott’s disappearance, Maitland knows better than to underestimate how tough it will be to track down a fugitive.

Maitland is approached about a gig by Charlie Mead about a bail jumper named Thomas Hicks, and he wants to hire Evan to bring him back. But when Evan discovers that Thomas has already killed two men, he decides that it’s more than fair to double his fee. Even more troublingly, they agree to pay it, which means that he’s now got a job to do that mostly involves tracking down a dangerous killer.

What he doesn’t know is that Thomas may have killed the mob enforcers in self-defense and isn’t the hardened killer that he believes him to be. While Thomas has made himself look guilty by jumping bond, he is aware of the fact that he is a black man that has a record. Thomas knows he is at risk on the street and feels he’s unlikely to get justice in court, so he flees.

It’s up to Evan Maitland to go to Kansas to track down Thomas and find out what happened along the way. He gets some help from former stranger Nina along the way. Can he figure out how to bring the bail jumper to justice and see that he gets a fair result at the end? You’ll have to read James Hunt’s exciting second sequel to find out.
