Janette Rallison
Janette Rallison was born April 1, 1966 and grew up in Pullman, Washington. Growing up in a small town influenced the settings that Janette writes about in her novels. She moved later on to Chandler, Arizona. She started writing at the age of six, and continues to write throughout her life in science fiction and romance.
Janette went to Brigham Young University, where she studied English Teaching. She is married and has five children, one of which is James Rallison, an internet personality and animator. Each of her kids keep her supplied with plot ideas, and sometimes they even make cameos.
She enjoys writing romantic comedy because there’s more than enough angst in every day real life, however there is a drastic shortage on romance and humor.
She published her early work through LDS publishing companies, however it was after submitting her book to a national book company that her career took off finally. With the LDS publishing company, she wrote as Sierra St. James penning romantic adult novels.
She has re-edited and republished these novels under the pen name of CJ Hill. This includes her “Slayers” trilogy and the “Erasing Time” series.
“Love, Life, and the Pursuit of Free Throws” and “All’s Fair in Love, War, and High School were included on YALSAs Popular Paperbacks for Young Adults list. “Playing the Field” was named Society of School Librarians International Best Book Award Honor Book. “Fame, Glory, and Other Things on My To Do List” was selected for IRAs YA Choices list in 2007.
“My Fair Godmother” is the first novel in the “My Fair Godmother” series and was released in the year 2009. Finding your one true love can truly be a Grimm experience!
Sophomore Savannah Delano, after getting dumped by her boyfriend for her older sister, wishes that she could find a true prince to take her to the prom. Enter Chrissy (Chrysanthemum) Everstar: Savannah’s cell phone carrying, gum-chewing, high heel wearing Fair Grandmother. Showing why she is just Fair, because she is not a very good fairy student, Chrissy mistakenly sends Savannah back in time to the Middle Ages, first as Cinderella, and then as Snow White.
She finally sends Tristan, a boy in Savannah’s class, back instead to turn him into her prom-worthy prince. When Savannah returns to the Middle Ages to rescue Tristan, they have to team up in order to defeat a dragon, a troll, and an undeniably sexy and mysterious Black Knight.
“My Unfair Godmother” is the second novel in the “My Fair Godmother” series and was released in the year 2011. Tansy Miller’s always felt that her divorced dad has never had enough time for her. However mistakenly getting caught on the wrong side of the law was not quite how she wanted to get his attention. That’s where Chrissy Everstar, Tansy’s fairy in shining high heels comes in.
Chrissy’s just a fair godmother, obviously, so Tansy’s wishes don’t quite go according to plan. So if bringing Robin Hood to the twenty-first century is not bad enough for Tansy, getting transported back to the Middle Ages to deal with Rumpelstiltskin surely is.
She’s going to need the help of her blended family, her wits, and particularly the cute police chief’s son to stop the gold-spinning story from spinning wildly out of control.
“My Fairly Dangerous Godmother” is the third novel in the “My Fair Godmother” series and was released in the year 2015. Some people bomb their auditions. Sadie Ramirez pukes during her tryouts on America’s Top Talent. Her performance is so bad that it earns her a fairy godmother through the Magical Alliance’s Pitiful Damsel Outreach Program. Enter Chrissy Everstar the fairy godmother in training.
She misinterprets Sadie’s wishes and sends her back in time to be part of The Little Mermaid story and then makes her one of the dozen dancing princesses. Wishes are permanent, and if Sadie wants to get home at all, she is going to have to strike a magical bargain, one that involves stealing a goblet from a powerful fairy queen. With just a little bit of help from a talented and handsome thief, she may just be able to pull it off.
“The Wrong Side of Magic” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2016. Hudson Brown quit believing in magic a long time ago. That is, until the day he gets whisked away to the magical land of Logos by this curious compass that Charlotte, his off-beat neighbor, gave him.
Hudson finds that Logos is a land ruled by memories, words, and thoughts. A fairy may ferry you across the river for the price of just one memory. However be sure to look out for any snarky unicorns, as they will see through anybody that are not pure of heart.
Not quite understanding the many rules of Logos, Hudson is rapidly stuck with a troll curse. Charlotte, who got banished from Logos, like her dad did, can help him get rid of this curse, however only if he agrees to help find the missing Princess of Logos in exchange.
“My Fair Lacey” is a stand alone novel that was released in the year 2021. Can a girl truly go from being white trash to high class? Lacey’s attempt to get a bank loan for her dream restaurant makes her feel like she is doomed to poverty and failure.
Enter Garett Halifax, her roommate’s handsome and a tad stuffy, Harvard-educated brother. When he offers to help her clean up her speech and her appearance to impress future bank managers, she jumps right at the chance. With just a bit of help, she is certain she can transform herself.
Caterpillars make transformation seem much too easy. Lacey continues making one mistake after another. And possibly the biggest mistake was falling for sexy Garrett.
This is Happily Ever After since that is how My Fair Lady should’ve ended. For those that loved My Fair Lady but never liked the way Professor Higgins was less than an ideal romantic hero, then you’ll be happy you read this laugh-out-loud, sweet romantic comedy.
