Jeneva Rose is a psychological and mystery thriller author from North Carolina that is best known for her debut novel “The Perfect Marriage.” The novel debuted in 2020 and she has never looked back since. Rose also writes the “Kimberley King” series under the pseudonym, JR Adler. She was born in Wisconsin though she spent a few years in New York before she upped and moved to Charlotte North Carolina with her husband. She also has an English bulldog named Sweet Prince who sometimes goes by Sir Winston. Rose started her writing career in 2011 when she got several freelance jobs writing for the likes of “The Richest,” “Huggies,” “U by Kotex,” “Diply,” “3M,” “Crayola,” and “Ford.” Her writings have been viewed more than 100 million times and she has never wanted for work. While she has made a name for herself as an author with the publishing of “The Perfect Marriage,” she still works as a content writer for publications, websites, and also as a Social Media Manager. When she is not writing, you can find Jeneva binge-watching “The Office,” reading a good book, traveling when she can, playing board games, or in the kitchen cooking.

Just like many other authors, Jeneva Rose’s path to publication was not an easy one nor was it traditional. She had always desired to be an author ever since she was a child but it was not until 2016 that she thought of writing fiction. In early 2017, she had completed writing her manuscript, a women’s fiction story, and started sending out queries only to rack up more than eighty rejections. While it was quite a disappointment, she psyched herself up just for finishing the novel, though she shelved it and began writing another. She decided to write a psychological thriller during NaNoWriMo from an idea she had in her mind for nearly a decade. By the end of November, she had nearly fifty thousand words and by April she was done and was getting representation offers. But finally, after more than a century of rejections, she had an agent though they had to part in less than a year after they fell out due to differences in working styles and communication. After too many rejections from agents, she finally decided to submit directly to publishers who took un-agented manuscripts. Fueled by ambition and angst, she researched her editors and put together her pitch letter. Two days later, she had Bloodhound Books call her back offering to publish her novel and a fortnight later she had a two-book series offer from Bookouture. She finally had the validation she needed to be confident in herself as an author and with the advice of a lawyer, she took both offers and finally came to the end of her twisted and rocky path to publication. It was a unique journey full of “almosts” and tons of rejection letters that it was only possible given that she had a lot of determination and belief in herself.

“The Perfect Marriage” by Jeneva Rose is an interesting psychological thriller that introduces the lead character, Sarah Morgan. She is a powerful and successful defense attorney that has lifted herself by the bootstraps to become the woman she is today. Morgan is the wife of a struggling author who is nearly giving up. As such most of the time, he is frustrated as he never seems to have time for him since she is always burrowed deep into her work while he just lounges around with nothing to do. At the opening of the novel, they are celebrating their 10th anniversary and Adam wants to spend time with Sarah at their vacation house but Sarah cannot make it as she is busy with work. Adam decides to go alone though he is not lonely as he reignites his affair with Kelly Summer and even leaves her at the cottage when he leaves for home the next morning. When the cops come to his door, he is surprised until they say that he is the prime suspect in the killing o Kelly who had been found stabbed to death in the lake house cottage. To get out of the sticky situation, he had to tell Sarah about the affair with Kelly, which is one of the hardest things he ever had to do. But Sarah becomes his lawyer as it is what one does for their spouse despite their misgivings. It is a beautiful story with skillfully drawn characters that provide a real roller coaster of a ride with turns and twists that end in an unexpected and explosive finale.

Ok, I absolutely LOVE the Kimberly King series, but it said book 2 of 2 and towards the end, I was like “No, there is more story to be told, especially of Sam and Kim so at the end of book 2, i was excited there would be a third, BUT, I LOOKED to see when the book 2 was written and that was back in 2021 and so far NO NEW RELEASE AND IT Has been 3 years. I am sorry, but that is letting her readers down. I am very disappointed because I could not wait for the third. My fav writers at least release 2-3 books a year. so COME ON WITH BOOK 3 PLEASE

‘The Perfect Marriage’ was excellent; better than I thought it was going to be. I think Jeneva Rose is a very talented writer and I’m so glad the world has discovered her.

I really like this author and would love to read more books by her. I would prefer them to be on Kindle, as was The Perfect Marriage.
