Jenn Burke
Jenn Burke is a Canadian author of science fiction, romance, gay and lesbian novels. Her books involve great adventures, love, and sexy characters. Jenn Burke incorporates paranormal romance in her books, which makes her work stand out. Burke lives in Ontario with her husband and children. She is also a proud owner of two dogs with video game characters’ names, thanks to Burke’s geeky side.
Not Dead Yet
Not Dead Yet is the first book in the Not Dead Yet series. The book stars Wes Cooper, a man who is not dead, and not so alive either. Wes is an immortal who can comfortably move between our world and the other plane. Thanks to his unique ability, Wes works as a thief for hire, and for many years, he had helped return numerous items to their rightful owners. All is going on well until Wes stumbles on a murder that changes his life. A dead actor is involved, and Wes is determined to find the killer. Fortunately, Wes’s ex-boyfriend is assigned the case.
Detective Hudson Rojas wants nothing to do with Wes. Just like he broke his heart a long time ago, it seems that he is keen to do it once more. Some of the mean words Hudson throws at Wes will make you cringe, and it is sad how he tries to stamp on Wes’s feelings whenever he can. Wes’s feelings for Hudson have never changed, and he will soon discover that below the mean and cynical façade is a man who still has deep feelings for him. The duos attraction aside, there is a killer on the loose, and the two need to work together to find him before more lives are lost. Can the two focus on getting the killer when there is a lot of tension between them?
While it is clear that Wes and Hudson have unfinished business, Hudson has a secret that could change all that. If the truth is revealed, their not-life together could end for good even before it starts. This book is told from Wes’s point of view, and with him, there is no dull moment. Wes is fun and lovable, unlike his love interest Hudson, a broody man, you will feel like slapping a few times in the story. However, these characters’ connection is clear from the start. The side characters are well-fleshed out, and they do a lot to add character to the story. Are you concerned about the Age difference? Well, it turns out that Wes doesn’t age, so while Hudson is 58, he is still in his 30s, the age they both were in when they met.
Not Dead Yet is a second chance romance story featuring an immortal ghost. If you are in the mood for laughs, vampires, demons, and ghosts, this book is ideal. There is a grumpy silver fox in the story, and despite his grumpiness, Wes will still find him irresistible. The verbal sparring between Wes and Hudson is adorable, not to mention the deep attraction simmering under the surface. Despite the clashes, Wes cannot find the strength to stay away from Hudson. This mystery will draw you in from the first page. The plot twist will catch you off-guard, and the rising tension will keep you glued to the pages to the end.
The Dragon CEO’s Assistant
The Dragon CEO’s Assistant is the second book in the Golden Kingdom series. This story features Aiden Bishop, a young man suffering from amnesia. Aiden finds himself naked and scared right at the edge of the woods. The odd thing is that he cannot remember who or where he is. Fortunately, his boss, a close to a 500-year-old dragon named Nassim, quickly claims him offering to guide and settle him back at work. As these two continue working together, Aiden will wonder about the nature of their relationship. Is it just Aiden, or does anyone feel that his relationship with Nassim goes beyond the standard employer-employee relationship? Why does it feel that Nassim and the rest of his colleagues are hiding something from Aiden?
This book documents Aiden’s journey towards self-discovery and the challenges he overcomes along the way. Aiden is going to make some startling discoveries about Nassim and himself as well. While his journey starts with more questions than answers, the truth about his place in society and the relationship with Nassim is revealed in small doses. The author also gives details about Nassim’s background and history while highlighting his struggles and fears. At the same time, the mystery of Aiden’s Amnesia is revealed, and the truth will come as a surprise, even to you.
The world-building in this story is outstanding. Join the author in this fantasy world where humans coexist with shifters, dragons, and gryphons. While they all have different rules and separate governments, it is intriguing that they can work together with minimal conflict. It is also notable that the main characters are well-fleshed out, making them lovable and relatable to the reader. Nassim is kind despite his power, and it is sweet that he goes out of his way to help Aiden. It is easy to feel for Aiden and wish that he gets all the answers he is looking for. The author highlights fascinating turf and political issues witnessed in this fantasy world, and it is exciting to see how everything works out.
The Dragon CEO’s Assistant is a perfect blend of paranormal, action, and romance. Told from Aiden’s point of view, this book introduces the reader to a fantasy world where humans and other life forms exist. Even though there are conflicts, there are rules governing their interactions, so no life form is disadvantaged. That said, it is easy to see that forces beyond him control Aiden. This changes when he starts to rediscover who he is. Want to find out the cause of Aiden’s amnesia? Why did Nassim try to hide the truth from Aiden while he acted all sweet and caring when he needed his help? Read about this and more in this intriguing book.
