Jenna Bennett is one of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling author from Norway. She likes to write romance and cozy mystery books. Author Bennett is particularly famous for her novel series, Do It Yourself Mysteries and the Cutthroat Business Mysteries. For writing and publishing the former series, she used to the pen name Jennie Bentley. Before deciding to take up writing as a career, author Bennett used to work as a waitress and tour guide. She has even worked for a number of other jobs like acting, travel agency, translation, airline employee, reservationist for a bed and breakfast, proofreading, and as a bank teller. Author Bennett has been living in The United States for more than 20 years now. She says that it is funny that she has not lost her Norwegian accent in spite of living for so long in America. Author Bennett began her writing career in the year 2008 with the release of her debut novel titled Fatal Fixer Upper. She wrote this book under the pseudonym of Jennie Bentley. In the year 2010, she used another pen name, Bente Gallagher, for writing the book, A Cutthroat Business. Finally, it was in the year 2012 that she debuted with the original name and the story that she wrote is a novella called Contingent On Approval.

Author Bennett says that she got the inspiration for writing the romance and mystery books on her own after reading the popular books of some of the prominent novelists like Elizabeth Peters, Lillian Stewart Carl, Janet Evanovich, Barbara Michaels, Dorothy L. Sayers, Jennifer Cruise, Ngaio Marsh, etc. In the Cutthroat Business mystery series, author Bennett has introduced the central character in the form of a Southern Belle and newly minted real estate agent named Savannah Martin, who lives in Nashville, Tennessee. In the other novel series. She has described the main character as an amateur sleuth and a designer named Avery Baker. She is shown being assisted in her sleuthing works by her boyfriend named Derek Ellis, who works for his own business as a handyman and renovates houses in and around Waterfield, Maine. For the publication of her mystery novels, author Bennett is associated with the Berkley Prime Crime publishers. In addition to her successful mystery books, Bennett also writes different types of romance books as a means of change and to take her mind away from the mystery and thriller genres. As of now, author Bennett has left all her previous jobs, including working as a home renovator and realtor, and spends all her time writing mystery and romance books as a full time author.

One of the most popular novel series written by Jenna Bennett is known as Cutthroat Business Mysteries. This series is also known by the name, A Savannah Martin Mystery series and consists of a total of 13 novels and 2 novellas. They were released between the years 2010 and 2016. All the books of the series feature the lead character in the role of Savannah Martin, who is depicted by author Bennett as a good girl. She likes to do what is expected of her and expects that life will fall in place when the time is right. But, when she comes to know that her seemingly perfect husband is cheating on her and has lied to her repeatedly, she kicks that jerk out of her life and begins to live on her own terms. She goes on to buy a new apartment and also takes up a new career. Giving a brand new outlook to her life, Savannah Martin sets out to grab every opportunity to succeed with both hands and not let any obstacle come in her path of progress. However, things do turn out to be easy for her as she begins to face a lot of difficulties when the world starts throwing her curveballs. But, her determination to succeed and rise to the top helps her to fight all the difficulties. She does not allow any difficulty to become big enough to cause a major problem in her life.

The first book of this series is titled as ‘A Cutthroat Business’. It was released in 2010. At the start of the story, it is shown that Savannah Martin is warned by everyone that the business of real estate is cutthroat. But, she does not think that this warning should be taken seriously. Later, she receives a call in the morning, which makes her go to an empty house on the other side of the town. There, she comes across the butchered body of one of her competitors and the boy about whom her mother had always warned her. Rafe Collier is a tall man with a dark and dangerous personality. He has a murky past and is a kind of man with whom Savannah Martin would not want to tangle. But, whatever she does or wherever she goes, she finds Rafe Collier standing in her path. The thing that irritates Savannah the most is that he does not say what he wishes to have from her. Now, she is required to find out who killed the queen of real estate and her greatest competitor, Brenda Puckett. Also, she has to make her new career success. While doing so, she has to take care that she does not get killed or fall for the dangerous love of Rafe. Savannah cannot allow herself to get distracted by any event or person or else she would fails miserably in her new career and end up again selling make-up items at a mall.

The next book in the series is titled as ‘Hot Property’. It was self published by author Bennett in 2011. The opening of the story shows that a fellow realtor and good friend of Savannah Martin, Lila Vaughn, gets robbed at the time of an open house. Savannah goes to meet her and show her sympathy. However, Lila seems more angry than distraught because the robber didn’t listen to her request to tie her on the bed and instead he tied her hands to the kitchen chair. The description that Lila gives about the robber makes Savannah think of her old mate from school named Rafael Collier. And recently, a man named T. Rafe has entered into the life of Savannah, following her wherever she goes. The homicide detective named Tamara Grimaldi also believes that Rafe is responsible for the robbery. And when Lila’s dead body is discovered tied to the bed, Rafe gets arrested as the prime suspect. However, Savannah believes that he cannot be a murderer and so she gets busy finding the real person who killed Lila Vaughn. Savannah knows that she has to be careful about her own life and huge business that she set up all by herself.

   I absolutely love all your nooks I’ve read!!! I wait in anticipation of another Savannah Martin book or Fatal Fixer upper book. Your style captures my attention so I can’t put the book down!!! So hard to have to go to work and miss out on reading until my lunch break😩
