Jennie Goutet
Jennie Goutet is an American born Anglophile, who lives with her French husband and their three kids in a tiny town just outside of Paris. There’s a working well and a garden filled with lavender. Her imagination lives in Regency England, where her historical romances are all set.

She is an inveterate klutz, a cook, and a Christian, and writes about food, faith, and life, even the clumsier moments, on her blog, a ladyinfrance.com. Her recipes are all gluten free and alcohol free, no small feat for France.

Every time she goes to a new destination in France, she always studies its history. Jennie’s already toured Bordeaux, Normandy, Brittany, Alsace, Provence, the Loire Valley, Auvergne, Ile de France, the Swiss Alps, and Brussels, just to name a few.

She grew up in Syracuse, New York, and is the daughter of a symphony musician. She was a lifeguard during the summers in between college.

Jennie was hit by a car and suffered a head trauma and battles depression, as a result. She also has a habit of crying when she speaks in public.

Jennie’s lived in three different countries in Africa, New York City, Paris, and Taiwan. She once spoke Mandarin very well, up until she learned French and forgot all of it.

Jennie loves lavender & citrus scents, babies, a strong wind, Chanel perfumes, soft-serve vanilla ice cream, Rachmanioff, Regency novels, peonies, china blue teacups, French manicures, the ocean, pendant earrings, and burgundy carpets.

“A Noble Affair” is the first stand alone novel and was released in the year 2016. Is there even such a thing as Prince Charming? Chastity did not take a teaching job in France in order to find one of her own, however a woman can still dream, n’est ce pas?

If the dad of one of her students, Viscount Charles Jean Anne Monorie de Brase, is the best local example of princes, Charming or Otherwise, she’s ready to set aside any thought about falling in love again. As much as she’d prefer him to just keep his distance from her, it appears there isn’t any avoiding one another. With the ongoing pressure of a sketchy drug dealer, a repentant ex-boyfriend, an art heist which spans decades, she and the viscount are thrust together by some circumstances she’d much rather forget.

While the intimacy between Chastity and Charles continues to deepen, they have to decide if their love is even enough to bridge the gap between their disparate worlds, and if happily ever after can possibly exist outside of fairy tales.

Readers liked that this one has a bit of mystery to it, and there’s a good twist at the end. Jennie’s pacing is rapid yet still allows the reader to get to know these characters rather well. Getting to see Charles and Chastity learn to like one another was a fun ride, and it was nice to see just how somebody’s opinions can be changed when they just try to get to know somebody.

“A Regrettable Proposal” is the first novel in the “Memorable Proposals” series and was released in the year 2019. Eleanor was orphaned at a young age wants nothing more than to just settle in a home of her own. Stratford, who was betrayed once, desires a woman that will be true. When a complex inheritance forces the two together, they don’t expect that this will be the answer.

Eleanor Daventry has just come into some money, however the inheritance comes with one condition: she has to marry in order to have it. Independent and steadfast, she’d rather just become a schoolmistress than marry a man she doesn’t love.

Stratford just learned his predecessor willed the estate’s unentailed land to Miss Daventry. Even though he’s cynical when it comes to love, he does know a practical solution when he sees one. Miss Daventry and he have to marry, and he wastes no time pressing his suit, with some rather disastrous results.

Eleanor, in the face of this rather insulting proposal, flees to London, landing in the home of Stratford’s closest friends unknowingly. Now thrust together constantly, she cannot help but admire his masterful apologies, never mind how often he delivers them to her. He concedes that, against every one of his predictions, she enjoys success with the ton. Quite fortunate. If only her suitors did not feel it necessary to go running to him for advice.

When combined forces threaten to ruin her reputation, he realizes that is much more than her land that he cares about. Somehow, someway, he will need to convince her that his coming to her rescue is a deed that’s inspired by love.

“A Fall From Grace” is the first novel in the “Clavering Chronicles” series and was released in the year 2020. He needs one less person to worry about, while she needs a champion.

Selena Lockhart comes without connections and dowry, and knows better than to expect Society to give her a welcome; particularly after her dad gambled his fortune away, precipitating the family’s fall from grace suddenly and her betrothed breaking their engagement off. It comes as no surprise that Sir Lucius, her new neighbor, treats her with much disdain. Why should he look beyond appearances when her own promises so very little?

Sir Lucius Clavering isn’t married, however he might as well be, considering he’s expecting to escort his widowed mom to watering holes, come to the aid of his scapegrace younger siblings, and round out the numbers at his married sister’s dinners. It doesn’t help that matchmaking mothers and single women jostle one another to claim his fortune, face, and title so that he is left without even a moment’s of peace.

Selena turns up at Lucius’ step looking to get some help, he is certain that it is another ploy that is aimed at cutting his prized bachelor existence to pieces. Even though his prejudice doesn’t last that long, he fears his first reaction could’ve ruined all of his chances with her. How can he possibly save her from Society’s teeth when she continues to keep him at arm’s length?
