Creating vast and expansive worlds rich in detail and scope, she’s also lauded for her use of character as well, with realistic people inhabiting her stories. Drawing from a wide range of influences including Ray Bradbury and Douglas Adams to name just a few, she’s not without inspiration either. Understanding the genre perfectly, she knows exactly what it is that she wants to do with it and really makes it work for her.

Interested in the genre from an early age, she would pursue fan-fiction earlier on, before moving on to her own creations. This would allow her to find the voice that many know her for today, really allowing her to say something entirely different in the process. Her characters are also very well established too, as they easily come alive off of the page for the reader, leaving them with a long lasting impression. She also always manages to impart a clear message through each of her stories too, while leaving enough room for nuance as well.

Her approach to the genre is both unique and intelligent, as she has very much made it her own over the years. Reaching a wide array of readers from around the world, she’s resonated with readers from many different background regardless of where they’re from. This is partly due to her accessible style of writing that is both entertaining and compelling in equal measure, saying something important as well. Growing up constantly reading, she become fascinated with the genre of science-fiction from an early age, particularly that of Ray Bradbury. This would inspire her to find her own voice as a writer, seeking inspiration from writers such as John Wyndham and ‘Day of the Triffids.’

Attending university, she would study at Monmouth College in Illinois, gaining a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. This would then see her go on to work as a lab technician, working in animal disease diagnostic lab, followed by working as an assistant store manager in a local greenhouse. Currently residing in Pennsylvania with her husband, himself a literature professor, and their two children she now writes full-time.

The first novel that Jennifer Foehner Wells would release was titled ‘Fluency’ and this she would bring out in 2012. Prior to this she would create an online fan-fiction novel set in the Stargate Atlantis universe titled ‘Futura Memoratia,’ and this would be well received. Reaching an audience with this fan-fiction novel released online, she would fast become well known on social-media where she quickly cultivated an audience.

Releasing her much loved ‘Confluence’ series of science-fiction novels, Wells would establish an entire universe of her own making. Looking at the survival and future of humanity, it would deal with some very real themes and ideas through the genre of science-fiction. Proving to be a huge success, she has gained a huge amount of acclaim both online and off, as her audience continues to grow every day.

Inheritance

Initially released through the ‘Blue Bedlam Science Fiction’ publishing label, this would first come out in 2016 on the 6th of October. Setting up the third title in the ‘Confluence’ series of novels, it would carry on from the last with another story set in the same universe as before. Previously this book would also be called ‘The Druid Gene’ before being named ‘Inheritance’ as it’s currently known.

There’s a lot here for the reader to invest themselves in, with a whole universe to potentially explore, featuring many different aspects and characters. For readers that are literate in the field of science as well, then they should also be able to find plenty of extra attributes here for them. On the whole though, it is extremely accessible, making for an engaging and compelling read that is difficult to put down.

Buried deep within the genetic code of Darcy is a ten-thousand year-old secret, which she soon discovers lurking as blue lines radiating under her skin. Trekking through the desert during her second year as a medical student, she makes the discovery, followed by the arrival of a spaceship coming for her. With her boyfriend now missing, she must now come to terms with her heritage and what it actually means, all the while surviving long enough to find Adam. Can she save her boyfriend in time though? What is the secret from her own past? How will she deal with her inheritance?

Vengeance

First published through the ‘Blue Bedlam Science Fiction’ imprint once again, this originally came out on the 31st of August in 2018. Marking the fifth title in the ‘Confluence’ series of novels, this followed on from the previous book once again featuring many of the same characters as before. Building upon the world further, it develops the universe of the novels, allowing the reader to immerse themselves even further than before. There’s a lot of characters here too, and each one of them has their own distinct personality, allowing them to come alive for the audience, resonating with them along the way.

Five years have gone by since Raub was left on Ulream for dead by Darcy Eberhardt, as Darcy has managed those years well with her ragtag crew of multispecies. Searching for her now thought to be long lost love Adam, she travels throughout the far reaches and fringes of known galactic society. Mastering her powers in secret away from prying eyes, Darcy also comes into contact of different characters, many of them disreputable, as she soon receives a cryptic message. Could it possibly lead to the whereabouts of Adam? Will he forever be beyond her reach? Can she claim her vengeance?
