Jennifer L. Hart is a bestselling author of cozy mystery fiction novels and is best known for the “Misadventures of the Laundry Hag” series of novels.

Hart was born and brought up in upstate New York and then got married to a military man who was in the Navy with whom she had two sons.

As a surviving military spouse, Hart has developed a keen sense of comfort food, persistence, and a stellar sense of humor which she imbues into her novels.

For the most part, she writes novels that focus on people who come with neurotic heroines with zany antics. Most of her characters are often survivors of the military lifestyle who love to drink, eat, and have a lot of fun.
She published “Redeeming Characters” her debut novel in 2010 and has since become a bestselling author who has also branched into other genres under a variety of pseudonyms.

Jennifer currently makes her home in the North Carolina mountains with her husband and two children. When she is not writing, Hart can usually be found trawling the internet stirring trouble and hoping to find a perfect pair of boots.

When Jennifer L. Hart began writing, she got into mysteries given that she liked how family-appropriate it was. Moreover, she wanted to write something that she wanted to read and would be proud to tell everyone about.
At some point, she decided that she would never let herself be held back by the fear of what her friends and family might think. She is a person who is very sensationalist and does not like to be constrained by anyone or anything.
As such, she decided to separate her several identities.

As Jennifer L. Hart, she prefers to write more wholesome cozy mysteries while as Gwen Rivers, she began writing a series of paranormal romances and young adult fantasies that would also become very popular.
Nonetheless, her best-known alter ego has to be Jenna McCormick under which she writes a bunch of science fiction, fantasy, and romance novels.
Under this pseudonym, she has developed a reputation for penning big-girl romance with a dash of out-of-this-world fantasy.

As for her publishing preferences, Jennifer L. Hart publishes both in the traditional way and independently. She believes that not every story that an author writes will have enough of a target audience to be picked up by mainstream publishers.
But she also believes that authors need to take risks and push the envelope to tell stories they need to tell.

It is from this type of thinking that she decided to take a hybrid approach to her writing that includes publishing some of her novels with traditional publishers with the rest being self-published.
With this approach, she has seen many of her works that would never have made it under traditional publishing become bestsellers as self-published titles.

Hart got the inspiration for the “Misadventures of the Laundry Hag” series of novels after she moved into a new state and new home and had to unpack dozens of boxes for the millionth time as a Navy wife.
She began thinking of how good it would be if someone did it for her but did not want people to see her dirty little secret.

Jennifer L. Hart’s work “Skeletons in the Closet” introduces Maggie Phillips, a woman who has never had it easy.

As the adoptive mother of two little hellions and the wife of a retired Navy SEAL, she is always on the lookout for ways to improve the financial situation of her family.
Since her new neighbors need a cleaner, she takes up the position but never imagined that she would become the only alibi for her employer.

It turns out that the man is fascinated with medieval torture devices and this comes out when he is charged with murder.

As Maggie struggles to prove that her employer is innocent, her deadbeat brother looking to extract some money from Neil and Maggie with his next great scheme makes a comeback into their lives.
As if that was not bad enough, she has to contend with her in-laws who have a reputation for being cutthroat attorneys with their condemning and disapproving attitudes, as they arrive for the annual Thanksgiving celebration.
With the police investigation intensifying, Maggie does her part as she searches for the killer in the upper class of Hudson, Massachusetts.

“Swept Under the Rug” by Jennifer L. Hart continues to follow Maggie Phillips who is confronted with grime and crime everywhere.

Deep in the throes of winter in New England, Maggie is struggling to adjust to her new role as Hudson Police Department’s confidential informant.

When one of her new clients gets a suspicious fax, she believes she has discovered a dark conspiracy. But the Hudson police can do nothing given the lack of evidence.
But then a wealthy trophy wife goes missing and the FBI are summoned as she is believed to have been kidnapped.

On the home front, she has to contend with a fast-growing twelve-year-old son while her brother with his wretched schemes is back. On top of everything, the marriage of her best friend is coming apart at the seams and she finds herself all alone.
But everything comes to a head when Maggie is arrested for blackmail and kidnapping. Between a tarnished reputation and economic woes, Maggie finds herself overwhelmed.
Nonetheless, out of the ashes of failure and frustration, there might just emerge something great but only if she can survive it.

Jennifer L. Hart’s novel “All Washed Up” is another fascinating work in “The Misadventures of the Laundry Hag” series of novels.

Maggie tells everyone that she is fine even though her business is all but dead and two psychopaths tried to take her out. She never intended to become a laundry hag and does not understand why she should have to mourn her destroyed reputation.
Upon the arrival of spring, they have an opportunity for a fresh start, and even better, the birth of her nephew and the garage sale season.

Life continues even though she has lost all interest in cleaning and has horrific memories whenever she looks at her scarred hands.

When her mother-in-law asks for help her to work on renovations she was doing to the upstate New York project house, she thinks something is not quite right.
Laura her mother-in-law believes that there is a ghost at their new property, and she asks her friend Sylvia to help.

She believes this would be a good opportunity for her and her husband Neil to get their marriage back on track. But when they start hearing and seeing things, everything takes a very sinister aspect.
