Jerry Kennealy
Jerry Kennealy is a mystery author best known for his Nick Polo series. The talented author has over 30 distinct works to his name and a few other novels written under his James Brant pen name. Before he went into full-time writing, Jerry worked as a policeman, fireman, and private investigator for over two decades. His investigative skills show in his stories as well as his knowledge of San Francisco in the 70s. Kennealy currently lives in San Bruno, California.

Dirty Who?
Dirty Who? Stars Johnny O’Rorke, an SFPD inspector in San Francisco. Johnny’s primary duty is to offer security to visiting film stars and politicians. In this book, Johnny is working for Audrey Pebble, the Film Commissioner. Audrey hired Harly Walker, a young local artist, to scout the city for locations to shoot a new film by Warner Brothers. The shocking thing is that Harly has gone missing, and Audrey is desperate to find him. Johnny’s job is to find Harly so that the filming of motion picture Dirty Harry can go on as planned. Johnny comes highly recommended for this job, and everyone is hopeful that he will find Harly soon.

Johnny’s search leads him to the seediest parts of San Francesco. From porno movie studios to hardcore leather bars, Johnny does his best to look for Harly. Having worked for Sinatra as a bodyguard, Johnny is aware of the ins and outs of the film industry, so it is not as hard to figure out the areas Harly could have visited. It is during his search that Johnny learns that some of Harly’s friends had been murdered and in the cruelest ways. Is there a chance that Harly has faced the same fate? Who is the killer, and why target Harly and his friends? Where did the rumor about the deaths originate from, and how comes so little is known about them?

Join Johnny as he works to solve the mystery behind Harly’s disappearance. While the job comes with its share of challenges, Johnny is fortunate to have Cosmo the Wonder Dog by his side. Cosmo is his sister’s pet, and watching him turns to be a good thing for Johnny. Who wouldn’t want a dog who turns into an instant celebrity wherever he goes? The San Francisco setting in 1970 is intriguing, and the author perfectly captures the hippie dream during this era. There is even an entire chapter on a music gig done in an effort to free jailed L.S. D. leader, Timothy Leary. The police investigation is well explained, making it clear that the author is not new to it.

Dirty Who? is a fast-paced thriller involving a talented protection officer on a hunt for a serial killer. In this story, the author introduces you to a world where murder and violence are never far away. Amidst the rising tension and dark humor, the author also injects tidbits about prominent citizens, sites, and even buildings. If you love police thrillers set in the past, you will love this book. Let the author take you back to the 70s, where the film scene is witnessing a huge growth, but intolerance and violence are still rife.

Jigsaw
Jigsaw is the first book in the Carroll Quint series. The book stars Carroll Quint, an entertainment critic working with the San Francisco Bulletin. Carroll loves his job, and while it doesn’t earn him a lot in terms of money, it comes with certain perks. Thanks to his job, Carroll holds a place in the after-dark world, which means that he gets to see the newest plays and movies way before the rest of the world. Carroll also enjoys writing about the plays and movies so that his readers can know what to anticipate. All is going well until Carroll’s friends start to drop dead one after the other. The shocking thing is that all of them work in the entertainment industry.

As if the deaths are not enough, Carroll starts getting emails from someone calling themselves Thanatos, otherwise known as the Greek god of death. At first, Carroll doesn’t think much of the emails, but when he discovers a friend’s body, it all starts to make sense. The emails offer clues on who is next on the killing spree using Alfred Hitchcock movies. There is no doubt that whoever is sending them wants to taunt Carroll, and when the clues turn out to be accurate, Carroll is more than terrified.

To stop the deaths, Carroll talks to the police only to end up on their suspects’ list. The police think that Carroll is sending himself the emails, and there is a lot more he knows about the death of his friends. It doesn’t that Carrol had just been accused of stealing a ruby necklace after things at a party went a little overboard. Heartbroken, and now on his own, Carroll has to rush and catch the killer before he becomes a statistic or more lives are lost.
Carroll will be shocked to realize that danger is closer home than he ever imagined. With minimal, if any help from the police, he must work to stay alive and stay one step ahead of a serial killer determined to shake the entertainment world. Fortunately, he has the full support of his girlfriend and mother. The reporter in him will not rest until the killer is found. Even after two more people die, Carroll stays focused and depends on the invaluable tips from his mother and girlfriend to solve the puzzle. Why is the killer leading Carroll to discover the bodies?

Jigsaw is a thrilling story featuring a sleuth and charming hero. Aside from Carroll, there are many other lovable characters to meet and love. The author infuses some humor even in tense moments, which helps lighten the mood in this rather dark story. If you are a lover of thriller books with thick plots, fast-pace, and an intriguing storyline, this book is perfect. The same applies if you are a movie fan, as the author has made many movie references throughout the story.
