Jessie Lane is an American author that writes contemporary and paranormal romance. Lane’s books typically follow the standard of most contemporary romance novels except for the fact that the heroes and heroines are supernatural creatures.

+Biography

Jessie Lane has dabbled in paranormal romance and contemporary romance, not to mention producing stories in the young adult genres. And her efforts have made her a bestselling author.

Jessie Lane calls Kentucky home. It is there that she lives with her children and protective husband. When the author isn’t reading naughty romance, she is writing it. She endeavors to fill her stories with cliff-hanging suspense and memorable characters.

+Literary Career

It should be noted that Jessie Lane is a pseudonym for Melissa Pahl and Crystal Leo. Melissa and Crystal Leo are a writing team. They are also sisters-in-law and they love adult romance.

Melissa and Crystal believe that they work so well together because they both spent their lives with their heads in the clouds, dreaming about the alpha males of their romantic dreams, from werewolves to military hunks and the like.

They learned fairly early on that they were a powerful writing team. Not only did they have the same tastes and preferences but they tended to feed off one another’s creativity.

They have admitted to encountering surprise from other authors who cannot understand how two people can write with one another and operate so seamlessly in the process.

Melissa and Crystal impute it to luck that they seem to know what is going on in one another’s brains. Their teamwork was born out of their understanding of one another. The pair initially operated independently.

One day, Melissa got stuck in the writing process. So she called Crystal who helped guide her through the complexities that were plaguing her story. It was at that point that the pair realized just how effectively they work together.

Melissa and Crystal have a system. One of them typically starts the story. Once they pick up on an idea, they take it as far as they can before handing it over to the other person to add to it and polish the final product.

The pair rarely clashes over the direction of their fiction. From a fairly early point in their partnership, Melissa and Crystal decided that most of their efforts would go towards producing adult fiction.

They have dabbled in the young adult genre. But it isn’t the sort of field they like working with, mostly because young adult fiction is so restrictive and they have to be careful just how far they go with the sexual content if they want to produce a story that will appeal to younger readers without offending their parents.

Adult fiction allows the pair to essentially let loose.

Melissa and Crystal impute the imaginative paranormal and supernatural concepts in their stories to all the fiction they read. They also read up on a lot of mythology to feed their imaginations.

Jessie Lane is designed to mirror Melissa and Crystal closely. Jessie is obsessed with Karen Marie Moning, Kresley Cole and Shelly Laurenston. Those are the three authors guaranteed to make her faint if she ever met them.

Jessie Lane is a pantser. That means she writes by the seat of her pants. She has tried plotting but it never works out for her. She prefers sitting down and letting her imagination take over.

Of course, she always spares a moment to note down the key points in her story. But other than that, Jessie is more comfortable letting her story unfold organically.

The author gets most of her writing done on her porch, especially if the weather is nice. Jessie Lane is surrounded by several acres of farmland. The view is perfect for a peaceful writing session.

The author even has a favorite lounge chair that she uses to get her writing done. Sometimes, Jessie Lane will accompany her writing session with some music. Whether she is listening to ‘Five Finger Death Punch’ or ‘Ed Sheeran’ depends largely on the mood she’s trying to create.

+Big Bad Bite

Jenna O’Connor is not human. Unfortunately for her, that doesn’t make her any more acceptable to the Others. Even by the standards of the supernatural community, Jenna isn’t normal, and that is problematic.

Jenna works hard to keep a low profile and hide her true nature from both her kind and the humans. However, that proves difficult when she moves to a new city and elicits the interest of Adam McPhee, an alpha werewolf who will not stop until he possesses Jenna and figures out exactly what she is.

McPhee, on his own, is a problem Jenna cannot ignore, and he isn’t the only one. There’s a group of extremist shifters on the prowl. This particular group has no love for humans and not only looks at them as cattle but also frowns upon the idea of members of the supernatural intermingling with humans.

When they come to town, Jenna takes it upon herself to keep them under control, a task that is easier said than done.

This is the first book in the ‘Big Bad Bite’ series. Jenna is a blend of demon and wolf. Adam is an alpha in his pack. When Jenna and Adam meet, Adam concludes that Jenna will be his mate.

Jenna doesn’t mind the look of Adam but she doesn’t know if she can trust his motives.

+Secret Maneuvers

Bobby Baker made a mistake. He was only a kid at the time but the mistake has continued to haunt him. Bobby wrote a letter telling Belle that he wasn’t ready to commit to their relationship.

This was shortly after he left to join the army. Bobby did not mean those words. But his high school sweetheart left town before he could clear up the confusion.

When Bobby meets Amy again, she’s an ATF Agent seeking the help of a CIA-operated group to fight the Mexican drug trade.

Bobby determines to use every skill he has mastered so far to woo Amy. Amy doesn’t make things easy. She has secrets of her own that she is determined to take to the grave.

The first book in the ‘Ex-Ops’ series finds the hero struggling to make up for a mistake he made in the past which lost him his one true love.
