An award winning author with over fifty romance novels to date, Jill Shalvis has found herself atop the New York Times Bestseller list on numerous occasion. With her husband along with her three children, she currently resides in Lake Tahoe, California. An American author of great repute, she shows no signs of stopping, focusing on her ever popular ‘Lucky Harbor’ series.
Early and Personal Life
Currently residing in Lake Tahoe, California, she is married with three children. Her husband works as an assistant helping her with her writing and research. A keen lover of animals, she spends a lot of time with her family when not writing, whilst always looking for inspiration in the process.
To begin with she attended college where she gained her degree in journalism, before moving on and finding her true love; fiction. Prior to this she also went into accounting, until she finally became a writer. Now she spends her days constantly writing as a full-time job whilst the children are off to school.
Since she was a child, she always enjoyed writing creatively as she wrote her own stories constantly. Animals are a constant source of inspiration for her as well, such as with the ‘Animal Magnetism’ series which featured them as a running theme throughout. This is also reflected in her promotion of rescue dogs, something that she’s always been a strong advocate for in the past. With a history of injecting humor into her work as well, she has a penchant for keeping things light-hearted and easy-going, much of which can be seen in her work on ‘Duets’.
Writing Career
With her degree in journalism, Jill Shalvis originally found herself heading towards accounting once she’d graduated. Her initial love of writing fiction was always there though, and she soon realized that this is what she really wanted to do. With her first book, ‘The Rancher’s Surrender’, published in 1999, she soon found that that dream had become a reality and there was no looking back.
Soon she started to produce her own series of books, as she focused herself primarily on the romance genre. In 2000 she wrote the book ‘Out of the Blue’, which was to be part of the ‘Wrong Bed’ series, a collection of novels from different authors. The year of 2003 then saw her write ‘Roughing it With Ryan’, which was the start of her very own ‘South Village Singles’ series.
Jill Shalvis has also had her fair share of awards as well, including the RITA or ‘Romance Writers of America’ award for her novel ‘Simply Irresistible’. This includes National Readers’ Choice Awards, which she won three of, and the RT Book Reviews Award for Career Achievement. Not only that, but she has reached the top of the bestseller’s list on numerous occasion, including that of the New York Times.
There’s a lot more to come from Jill Shalvis as an author, because the story doesn’t end there. With novels planned into the future and further developments on her series, such as ‘Lucky Harbor’, there’s plenty more in the pipeline. As her audience seems to be building as well, her career can only grow from strength-to-strength.
Rescue My Heart
This book makes up the third novel in Jill Shalvis’s ‘Animal Magnetism’ series, with it being a more recent one released in 2012. In it there’s the story of Adam Connelly, a man returning home after a stint that turned out to be tragic where he served time in the National Guard. It is here in Idaho that he hopes to forget all his troubles with his brothers as he manages the animal shelter in the small town of Belle Haven there. That’s when out from the past steps a woman whose heart he once managed to break, this time fairly vulnerable yet still beautiful.
Hollie Reid is reluctant at first when meeting Adam again as she was hurt by him once before. Because of this she has developed a hardened heart as she relies on herself more than anyone else. After her father goes missing on a hike through the Bitterroot Mountains, she realizes she might require Adam’s tracking skills to help locate him. It is with that she seeks his help, thus rekindling their relationship in the process. What they must contend with though is their past as they attempt to leave the ghosts behind them and begin once again. Can they get back together despite their troubles? Will they find the missing father lost in the mountains? What will become of them and can they leave the pain of the past behind them and start over once more?
Get a Clue
Everything seems to be lost as one Breanne Mooreland is left at her wits end after being dumped at the alter. Taking the flight to her honeymoon regardless, she has an awful journey in the process, but still manages to get there in one piece despite losing her luggage. To top it all off, she finds herself snowed in at the Sierra Lodge, as she’s trapped with a highly eccentric staff that come across as a little more than kooky.
It is then that she finds she’s sharing a room with Cooper Scott, a vice-cop who’s burned out and seen too much, and she realizes she may have to spend some time with him in the only available room as neither of them is willing to budge. He needs this vacation too after all the stress of his job, so they will just have to make the most of it and share a bed. This inevitably sees complications arise as they both soon embark on an emotionally charged affair, as Cooper wants to reignite her trust in men again after her being hurt before. Then, to really put the icing on the cake, Breanne finds a dead body. Will they come together and overcome their obstacles, putting their pasts behind them and learn to love once again? Can they salvage what’s left of their holiday, making the most of it and each other? Where did the body come from, who committed the crime and are they in danger as they both get a clue?
