Jinty James is a reputed American writer of cozy mystery, fantasy, witchcraft, thriller, magical, and suspense stories. She is well known for writing the Coffee Witch Cozy Mystery series and the Norwegian Forest Cafe Mystery series. The former is also known as the Maddie Goodwell series. Author Jinty is credited to have created the lead protagonists Maddie Goodwell and Lauren Crenshaw in her book series. Besides the human main characters, her books contain also a pet animal in the lead role, specifically a cat. With Maddie Goodwell, she has depicted a Persian cat named Trixie that assists her in solving murder mysteries, while Lauren Crenshaw has a Norwegian Forest cat named Annie as her partner in the investigation murder mysteries.

The other essential characters created by author Jinty in her books include Zoe and Suzanne Taylor, who are shown as best friends and investigation companions of Lauren Crenshaw and Maddie Goodwell respectively. Jinty claims that she grew up reading the Secret Seven series and the Famous Five series penned by author Enid Blyton. She is also fond of the books written by Nancy Drew and used to keep herself indulged in reading them for the entire duration of the day while growing up. During her teenage years and her early twenties, Jinty graduated to the mysteries penned by Elizabeth Peters, Agatha Christie, and numerous other prominent authors of the mystery and cozy mystery genres.

Jinty always had the dream of writing her own book and create her own stories of cozy mystery one day. This dream finally came true in 2016 when she successfully published her debut novel called Lethal Latte. It was also the first book to introduce her main characters of Maddie Goodwell, Suzanne Taylor, and Trixie – the Persian Cat. Following the tremendous success of her first book, Jinty went on to write several titles featuring Maddie Goodwell in the role of the chief protagonist. In 2019, Jinty began the Norwegian Forest Cafe series. Its first novel, Purrs and Peril, was the first one to feature the set of lead characters Lauren Crenshaw, Zoe, and Annie.

In the same year, Jinty wrote and published three more books of this series. Author Jinty has plans for writing many more interesting and exciting books in the coming years. She is even planning to create her third mystery series and is about to begin working on its first book very soon. The novels penned by Jinty are available in regular paperback format as well as in the Large Print format. Also, there are audiobooks of her first series available in the bookstores. Her second series’ audiobooks, whose narration has been done by Devon Sorvari, are expected to be released in 2020. Jinty has developed a website in her name on which she posts regular updates regarding the release dates of her upcoming books and the recent happenings in her personal and professional lives. She also writes blogs about cats and shares them with the audience.

A widely popular series written by author Jinty James is the Maddie Goodwell series. It began in 2016 and features the central characters in the roles of Trixie, Suzanne Taylor, and Maddie Goodwell. All these characters are shown running a coffee truck in the town of Estherville in Washington State. When mysterious happenings begin to take place in and around Estherville, Maddie, Suzanne, and Trixie get involved in investigating those mysteries and end up unraveling them with the help of their wit, intelligence, courage, and teamwork. The debut book of the Maddie Goodwell novel series is entitled ‘Lethal Latte’. It is also known by the title, Spells and Spiced Latte, and was released in 2016 as a Kindle book. The book opens by depicting that Maddie Goodwell keeps herself busy with her coffee truck named Brewed from the Bean along with her close friend Suzanne Taylor and her pet cat Trixie.

Maddie always thought of her hometown Estherville as a sleepy town. When she was small, she had come across an old book called Wythcraft for the Chosen. Two decades later, she could only cast one spell from the book with successful results, that is, the spell of coffee vision. When a regular customer named Joan asks Maddie to peek into her future, she sees Joan lying dead in her kitchen. This vision shocks both Maddie and Joan. Later, the vision turns into reality when Joan gets murdered. Maddie becomes so infuriated with Joan’s murder that she makes up her mind to investigate and catch the murderer. Trixie and Suzanne help her in carrying out the investigation.

The second book of this series is known as ‘Cappuccino Corpse’. It was also published as a Kindle book in 2017 and is known by another title called Visions and Vanilla Cappuccino. Once again, the novel opens by mentioning that Suzanne, Trixie, and Maddie are immersed in the operation of their specialty coffee truck. With the arrival of the coffee festival, all the people in the town seem to be excited. But, joy and happiness are short-lived as the murder of a radio personality brings everything to a standstill. When Maddie’s name gets added to the list of suspects, Trixie, Suzanne, and herself team up again to find the real culprit and clear’s Maddie Goodwell’s name. With just a couple of spells familiar to her, Maddie wonders if she can unmask the real murderer. As time is running out, the trio indulges in speeding things up in order to prevent the killing any more innocent people and track down the killer. This novel provides a good story with a paranormal setting and featuring mystical cats, good witches, and interesting sidekicks.

   I love being transported into the fantasy world of Jinty James. Her Maddie Goodwell series was awesome !! Her Norwegian Cat Cafe’ books are equally exciting and mysterious!!
