Jo Bartlett
Jo Bartlett has been making up stories for as long as she can remember however it took a brush with cancer in order to kickstart a determination to succeed as a writer.
“A Holly Bay Christmas” is the first novel in the “Holly Bay” series and was released in 2016. Maddie owns her dream business running a combined tea rooms and bookshop, in the gorgeous Cornish village of Holly Bay. When Ben shows up looking for a place he can rent, Maddie is keen on helping him find a home in the town that she loves, where they really know how to celebrate Christmas.
Ben, who steps in to help Maddie raise some money for a charity that’s close to her heart, and even dresses like an elf on Christmas gift day, seems too good to be true. Letting her guard down, she realizes that she is falling for the newcomer, however, once it turns out that he has this hidden agenda, she cannot wait for him to leave.
Is the storm which breaks out just two days before Christmas, and cuts Holly Bay off from the rest of the world, give Ben another chance to prove himself to her? Or will Maddie be destined to spend another Christmas with just her books for company?
“The Cornish Midwife” is the first novel in the “Midwife” series and was released in 2021. The last thing that Ella Mehenick wants is the fifteen minutes of fame that she has found herself handed. After all, who would want to star in a viral video of the very public ending of her relationship? Desperate to get as far away from her ex-fiance as possible, and newly single, Ella returns to Port Agnes, the Cornish seaside town, where she grew up.
Working as a community midwife ensures she stays busy and, even if a few of the locals seem to have this unhealthy fascination with her relationship’s breakdown, the other midwives quickly make her feel like she’s one of the team. Despite her own disastrous dating history, she manages to play matchmaker to her new best friend and she even dodges her parents efforts to get her to settle down with the boy next door.
Dan Ferguson is her only problem, who seems to be hellbent on destroying a local landmark, which is going to rip the heart right out of Port Agnes. When Dan winds up being the only person that can help Ella, after one high risk pregnancy puts one patient in danger, she learns that he is not the man she believed him to be. However getting to know the real Dan is not quite as easy as she would like it to be.
Somebody in Port Agnes is determined to not allow her to move on from the past and is going to stop at nothing in order to make sure nobody forgets why Ella’s returned to town, even if this means breaking the law. Is she ever going to be allowed to actually enjoy her return to Port Agnes, or are some things just impossible to leave behind?
“Second Chances at Cherry Tree Cottage” is a stand alone novel and was released in 2021. Luke, Scarlett West’s useless husband, walks out on her one day never to return, she is left to attempt and make a new life for herself and Ava, her four year old daughter. However with debts mounting, there is just one place she can go.
Scarlett, returning back home to the village that she grew up in, starts rebuilding her life slowly. Their cottage is beautiful, and Scarlett has a job and the support from her friends and family. Possibly this is the second chance that she needs?
Then there is Cameron Ellis, Scarlett’s beautiful new boss. Everybody believes that Cameron and Scarlett are perfect for each other, and while she spends more time with him, she starts thinking he could be apart of their future, as well. Up until Luke shows back up, desperate to get his family back.
“Midwife’s Summer Wedding” is the second novel in the “Midwife Midwife’s Summer Wedding” series and was released in 2021. It is wedding day in Port Agnes. The dress is selected, the venue has been booked, and Senior Midwife Anna Jones just has to say “I Do” to the man that she loves. Theirs may have been a whirlwind romance, however Brae Penrose is everything that Anna dreamed that her husband would be and she cannot wait to begin a new life with the guy, and if they’re lucky, possibly even a family of their own.
However while the big day approaches disaster strikes, and their perfect day seems destined not to happen after all. Anna is certain that it is a sign to slow things down.
The other midwives will not hear of Brae and Anna postponing their big day, however can they and the community of Port Agnes pull together in order to make sure the Penrose summer wedding goes off without a hitch?
“Welcome to Seabreeze Farm” is the first novel in the “Seabreeze Farm” series and was released in 2022. Elle Chapman is desperately in need of a change, since she is unhappy with her life in London, and with her love life a total disaster. So when she discovers that she has inherited a farmhouse perched up high on the cliffs above the English Channel, it seems like a perfect escape.
However dilapidated and ramshackle, and ruled by the world’s most naughty donkey, Seabreeze Farm isn’t as picture perfect as she was imagining it would be. Then there is Ben Hastings (a brooding local vet), who seems to make it his mission to make Ellie’s life on the farm that much harder.
With money tight, she slowly rebuilds the old farmhouse. And while the farm continues coming to life under her care, her spark returns too. Since with every day that passes, she starts realizing that there’s something pretty special about Seabreeze Farm, and there isn’t any other place she would rather be.
