Author Jo Ann Vest writes contemporary romance books and publishes them under the name of Joanna Wayne. Vest has used some other pen names too. These include: Julia Watson, Julia Hamilton, Jane De Vere, and Julia Fitzgerald. She was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and it was here that she grew up. At the age of only four, she started reading, and pretty soon, was making trips to the library on a weekly basis to pick out books for her to read. Then she would read every single one of them right before she went to bed that night. Her love of books has not dropped off since then.

By the year 1984, she got married and moved on to New Orleans, and enrolled in a course on writing and joined a pro writing organization. She has taught creative writing courses, and is a popular speaker at community functions and writing organizations.

Her books have made it on to Waldenbooks Bestselling List in the romance section. “Surprise Package” and “Attempted Matrimony” both won Reviewers’ Choice Award from Romantic Times.

She lives a little north of the city of Houston, Texas. Even though she has many ties to the state of Louisiana, both emotional and family, she loves Texas, too.

“Trumped Up Charges” is the first novel in the “Big D Dads: The Daltons” series and was released in the year 2013. Adam Dalton (who is an ex-marine) used to dream about living with Hadley O’Sullivan for the rest of his life. An injury that almost killed him, plus war took its toll on him. He goes back to Dallas and finds the unthinkable has happened. Hadley is now the prime suspect in her baby twin daughters going missing. These are the kids that he never knew that he had.

Beyond her terror of her kids being kidnapped, she is shocked when she sees Adam again. Hadley was keeping him from seeing his daughters, that is true, but also knows that she is still in love with him when he tells her that they have to work together and keep a united front. Despite what went on in the past, finding their twin daughters is all the hope they have left to truly start a family. If they do not run short of time first.

Fans of the novel found that they really enjoyed this, especially the stellar suspense found in the book. In parts, you just hold your breath, as you wonder what will happen next in the story. It was nice too that the romance took a back seat to the suspense in the book, which can be rare in some of these books. Some loved the style that Joanna wrote this with, not to mention the story was even believable.
Adam is a likable character that does a great job carrying the story.

“Unrepentant Cowboy” is the second novel in the “Big D Dads: The Daltons” series and was released in the year 2013. Protecting those that are innocent has become second nature for Leif Dalton (a defense attorney in Dallas). His daughter (a teenager) insists on going to Dry Gulch Ranch and starting up a relationship with his own father, from whom he is estranged. It makes him want to do whatever it is going to take to make sure she stays safe. He does not want any more connections to the ranch, but Joni Griffin (who is a sexy veterinarian) has caught the eye of a stalker. It makes him want to do nothing but stay close.

Joni, being chased by a serial killer, is going to take all the necessary measures to make sure she does not die. Joining up with Leif, however, puts her very heart at risk. With the danger rising, the passion heats up between them, too. Trust is going to make all the difference between living and dying.

Fans of the novel found that it was interesting to see how Joni and Leif are able to work together to find out who the bad guy is. The story is fast paced and lets you get to know the characters quickly, and things truly come to life with each word. The novel has a great conclusion to it that wraps things up nicely. Some cannot wait to get their hands on more books in the series.

“Hard Ride to Dry Gulch” is the third novel in the “Big D Dads: The Daltons” series and was released in the year 2014. A gorgeous woman with some spellbinding brown eyes desperately needs the help of Travis Dalton, a Dallas homicide cop. Her name is Faith Ashburn, her son (a troubled teen), and could be hiding secrets that might get him, not to mention his own mother killed.

Faith is determined to find her son, even turning to the rugged cop who is haunted by a pain filled past. The search brings a shocking connection to light about a dangerous criminal that Travis has sworn he is going to bring to justice. It means that Faith must trust him to keep her alive. The passion starts heating up, and it means that she will need to trust Travis with her own heart, which is something that she thought she would never give to another guy.

“Midnight Rider” is the fourth novel in the “Big D Dads: The Daltons” series and was released in the year 2014. The twin sister that Brittany Garner (a homicide detective with Houston police) never knew she had is found dead. She leaves behind a daughter that is just three months old.

Brittany makes a vow to find the killer of her sister, and the father of the infant with no mother. It leads right to Cannon Dalton. He is a bull rider that spends his life going from rodeo after rodeo, and only has mission in life. Keep the gorgeous cop and the child that might be his safe.

He is caught in the middle of some danger that is escalating, not to mention a hot desire he has for Brittany. It makes him race against time to stop this killer, and get some revenge that has been coming for a long time.
