Joanne Rock is an American author of romance fiction and more. She first began writing romantic stories before she was a teenager. Rock would make up tales in order to entertain herself and her best friend. Together they would be the popular stars in their high school exploits. Somehow or another, a romantic storyline with the boys they liked best would always make their way in.
Joanne started writing out some of the stories in her head when she became a stay-at-home mom. She thought she would have ample time to write, but it ended up not being nearly as much time as she thought! When she was writing down the stories, she had no idea that some years later she would have over thirty books published and in print. She likes to write stories where the heroines of the story don’t always have to reside in Malibu and drive flashy convertible cars to find the loves of their lives.
Rock had no idea when she was starting out that her romantic and medieval historical novels would do so well. Her romances and many other of her books have been translated into over a dozen languages and have been printed in two dozen countries so far! She has been awarded many awards, from a Beacon Award to the Blue Boa Award, the 2015 Snow Globe award, and the W.I.S.H. Award from Romantic Times. Rock has also won the Golden Heart award from Romance Writers of America. She is a RITA nominee (four times to be exact) and has been nominated for the Cataromance Reviewers’ Choice Awards quite a few times.
Joanne Rock is now not only a published writer of fiction, she is also a workshop speaker. She relays her experiences in the college classroom in her popular seminars that are designed to educate, motivate, and inspire other authors no matter what level of their career they are at. She has also penned the book Self Promotion: Your Guide to Launching a Book. This book was partially a response to the many requests she received to put her thoughts on this topic into writing.
Rock wants to find the joys in the happily ever after when it comes to writing. She says that she enjoys speaking to other writers and developing relationships on a personal level with authors whose work she admires and has influenced her in some way, whether it’s uplifting her, teaching her something, or influencing her writing. She says that the community of writers is giving and interesting. Rock also enjoys hearing back from readers of her books and feeling that she has given them something, whether uplifting or entertainment. She says she became a writer to help deliver the experience of being swept away by a story, just like she has had the pleasure of being swept or carried away by the stories of other authors.
Joanne Rock graduated from the University of Louisville with her Master’s in English. In addition to being a writer and a mother, she has worked as a public relations coordinator, college teacher, and a copywriter. She is the author of many series, including the five books in Single in South Beach, the West Side Confidential series, the Night Eyes series, the Double Overtime series, the Highlander series, the Heartache, TN series, the Road to Romance series, the McNeill Magnates series, and more.
Rock has also collaborated with many other authors, including Catherine Mann on the Runaway Brides series. There are four books in total in the series. She has written on Strangers in Paradise with Stephanie Bond, and wrote with her again and Jo Leigh on Love So Tender in 2005. She has written with countless other authors too!
Besides writing her many series, Rock has also written a number of standalone novels, including Learning Curves, A King Most Wicked, Indulge Me, and more! Joanne Rock also contributed to the Improper Christmas Nights collection in 2014. She has also contributed to other series such as Heat, The Right Moves, Perfect Timing, Mediterranean Nights, Blush, and Wrong Bed, among others.
Fiction isn’t the only genre Joanne Rock dabbles in, although she does have a number of fictional novellas under her belt as well. Novella published in her name include the 2009 novel A Night of Wicked Delight, Summoned for Seduction, Maid Until Midnight, and 2013’s Vanquished by the Viking, amongst a few others! Rock has also penned a nonfiction book along with several other writers– nine others in total! The 2015 book was called Writing the Bestseller II: Romance and Commercial Fiction.
Sex and the Single Girl is the first book in the Single in South Beach series. It was published in 2003. The main character of this book is Brianne Wolcott. Brianne is in South Beach for the purpose of helping to run a resort. Not just any resort– this is the hottest new singles resort around, in one of the hottest locations ever.
Not only is work going great, but her love life is great too. Aidan Maddock is a hot F.B.I. agent. Now her crush is in her sights. Every time that she sees him, her heart rate goes through the roof. So it’s safe to say that she might be into him. Brianne intends to have one simple one-night stand with Aidan and then hopefully sate her desire. But as it turns out, one night together might not be enough!
Bri just wants to have one great hookup with Aidan, but her libido and maybe even a little of her heart start to get invested. Is Aidan more than just a one-night stand? Pick up Sex and the Single girl to find out!
Girl’s Guide to Hunting and Kissing is the second novel in the Single in South Beach series. It was published in 2003. Summer Farnsworth is the main character in this book. She’s a hunter, but her type of prey doesn’t involve deer or birds– it’s men that she likes. Summer wasn’t planning on hunting for someone like Jackson Taggart to hook up with when originally searching for a fling. He is definitely a little different from the guys that she usually goes for.
Even though Jackson doesn’t seem like the bad boy type, maybe there’s something to him under those overly-starched shirts. Opposites are said to attract– right? Although it wasn’t her initial plan, Summer better watch it, or she might fall in love with the button-down man of her dreams. Want to know what happens? Pick up Girl’s Guide to Hunting and Kissing to catch all of the hot and steamy action for yourself!
