Joe Buff is American writer of naval techno-thriller popularly known for his bestseller Tidal Rip. Before his full-time writing career, Buff worked as an actuary for 20 years. Buff is an alumnus of New York University with Bachelor of Arts in mathematics and later joined Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he graduated with Master of Arts in Mathematics. Buff resides in Dutchess County, New York with his wife a writer as well whom he met back in college.

His novels take place during the year 2011- 2012. In his books, Boer reactionaries take control of the government of South Africa leading the United Nations to put sanctions on South Africa. To counteract this, South Africa starts sinking any merchant shipping belonging to the United States and the United Kingdom. On the other hand, NATO begins mobilizing convoys that sail towards South Africa with Germany resisting due to social unrest. These moves make the Continental Europe admit defeat due to the fear of being in a nuclear war and most of the world remains neutral for either fear or greed or even both. The bankrupt Russia begins selling war weapons and intelligence to Boer-Berlin Axis. Regarding the allies, only United Kingdom, Mexico, America, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Chile, Canada, New Zealand, Australia and some African nations are still fighting. During the war, Jordan, Egypt, Brazil, India, Turkey, Indonesia, Russia, and some Middle East countries join the allies. The weapons of choice become tactical nuclear warheads with an agreement not to attack any civilians. The story then begins with Deep Sound Channel published in 2000 and ends with Seas of Crisis (2005).

Deep Sound Channel

Deep Sound Channel is the first book in Jeffrey Fuller series by Joe Buff. If their mission succeeds, their mission will be a success, the bioweapon will be destroyed, and the South African government crippled, however, if something awful wrong, millions of innocent lives will be lost.

The first book in Jeffrey Fuller series is a detailed and a hypothetical case of World War III. The action takes place in Indian Ocean proximal to the coast of Africa at Durban.
