In 2014, the Content Council granted him the Lifetime Achievement Award. Joe is also the founder and host of a very popular podcast series on content marketing titled “This Old Marketing with CMI’s Robert Rose.” “The Random Newsletter” which has thousands of subscribers is another way he uses to reach his audience. Pulizzi established “The Orange Effect,” a foundation that delivers technology and speech therapy services to children in the United States.
Joe Pulizzi went to Penn State University where he graduated with a degree in communications. He then went on to work on communications with several organizations including Penton Media, Custom Publishing Council and SocialTract before he founded the Content Marketing Institute in 2007. However, he had coined the term content marketing back in 2001 before it became one of the fastest-growing categories in internet marketing. He sold his company to UBM a multibillion-dollar media and events company from London in 2016. Over the years, Pulizzi had spoken about content marketing in more than sixteen countries and 400 locations across the globe. He has been a keynote speaker for organizations and events held by the likes of Dell, SXSW, HP, NAMM, SAP, Fortune Magazine Leadership Summit, Dupont, Nestle, Oracle, and General Motors. Having been in content marketing for nearly a decade, he decided to do something different with his life in 2018 when he sat down to write a thriller novel. His debut novel “The Will To Die” was published in 2020.
“The Will to Die” by Joe Pulizzi is the story of a gambling addict and desperate entrepreneur named Will Pollitt that is just about to win a much-needed confidence-boosting contract. Will is trapped in debt and his cash reserves are running low. To make matters worse, his daughter is about to be kicked out of Penn State if he cannot find her tuition fees fast enough. At the critical meeting, he gets a message informing him that his father is dead. He immediately rushes back home to Sandusky in rural Ohio for the funeral. His father had run a funeral home his whole life and Will had grown up learning the ropes though he had ultimately decided to chart his own path later in life. Since he knew everything about the business, he immediately notices that there is something that does not seem right. His frazzled sister distrusts the coroner that had been in charge of the autopsy. Meanwhile, his ex-wife is set on embalming the body which he finds very suspicious. Could his father have been murdered and his death deceitfully blamed on a heart attack? The storyline intensifies and races ahead when he learns that another owner of a funeral home has declared himself the Supreme Leader of the small town and just like Hitler makes unilateral decisions on who will work in and populate Sandusky.
