He had his play Little Read House published in Mason’s Road, a literary journal. The short play ended up being produced in Lexington, Kentucky by Studio Players Theatre. His short play was workshopped in 2017 and Of Mice and Marines went through a staged reading in Las Vegas at an ATHE conference. Yunker’s short stories have made it into a variety of literary journals that include Antennae, Qu, Flyway, and Phoebe.

Yunker has published a variety of books through his own press. These include the book Among Animals and the sequel to it, Among Animals 2. Each of these books features different short fiction pieces that showcase the relationship between the animals and human beings.

His fictional novel The Tourist Trail was released in 2018. There is a second book in this series that features the main character of Angela Haynes, a biologist. There is a very strong current of environmental and animal protection that is pervasive enough to have these two books qualify as belonging to the genre of ecological fiction!

The Tourist Trail is the first book in a series by John Yunker. In this novel, readers get the chance to meet Angela Haynes for the first time. She is a biologist and works in Patagonia. Her job is pretty much her life, and she is no stranger to spending long and dark nights alone for her job.

She’s one of just a few people working at a station that is specializing in penguin research. Penguins are her main concern, and she is getting used to the demands that this station has of her. She’s growing accustomed to hearing penguin cries just before dawn, as well as extremely modest housing and supplies.

Angela is also getting used to being in one of the earth’s remotest regions and spending her days and nights there. That is all starting to become second nature to her, but this biologist is hardly ready for what the job has in store for her next. One day she’s working when a strange man washes ashore, which is a surprise to her.

Obviously she has no idea who the man is or where he even came from. When she tries to ask him what his name is, he will not tell her it. it doesn’t matter though, because this guy washed up at the right time. She has a definite soft spot in her heart when it comes to strays and people in need, even if it’s not the best idea.

Angela decides to tend to him, telling herself that she’s protecting her work and her birds while this man figures out what to do. Little does she know that she is about to find out why he has an alias instead of a name and even that he’s a refugee on the run from the law and why. This is a man without a home, and as she gets to know him more, she finds that she is starting to fall for him.

It’s crazy that she should start to fall for a man that she barely knows, but he really is an interesting person. As a result of their connection, she may end up choosing to go on an adventure that might just take her out into the waters of the Atlantic. This biologist may find out that the things that she had thought left behind her may be catching up to her as well and is starting to enter into emotional territory that was supposed to be old news.

Set against the Southern Ocean, this is a story that tells not only the story of Angela but Robert Porter, FBI agent. He’s being sent on a specialized mission that might just end up bringing the past back to haunt him. The Tourist Trail also features the story of computer tech Ethan Downes as well, whose passion for an activist with just as much passion may end up drawing him into the middle of a very dangerous situation. What will happen? You have got to read this interesting fictional novel to find out!

Where Oceans Hide Their Dead is the sequel to Yunker’s Tourist Trail! In this riveting second installment, readers get to catch up with Robert Porter once more.

Robert has left his job and is no longer working for the FBI. Now he’s taking some time to himself for a personal mission to find his long lost love. That would be Noa, a woman that was presumed to be dead. However, Porter does not believe that she truly is lost forever.

He ends up finding himself in Southern Africa, working for an organization that rescues seals. However, when a confrontation results in a murder, he must leave his work for the seals as well as his quest to join an intelligence firm that wants to track down a thieving activist that stole biotech company files.

Tracy Morris works as a hospice nurse in Iowa City during the day. By night, she follows a man named Neil. She sent Neil to prison when she was a drug addict with a broken heart. Amy Bakas is a backpacker in New Zealand that isn’t certain she wants to get married back in America.

When she joins a man that is hitchhiking, she finds out this mysterious guy just might be Neil Cameron. He’s running to save his life, and all of their stories will end up colliding on an Australian beach in this adventure novel at some point. Read it to find out how it ends!
