Jon Trace/ Sam Christer

Michael Morley was born in Manchester in the year 1957 and writes under the pen names Sam Christer and Jon Trace. Under his own name, he wrote a novel called “Spider” that was released in the year 2008, and it is both his debut novel and is the first novel starring “Jack King”. At birth, he was orphaned and was brought up in foster, care, and adoption homes.

His first job was working as a messenger for a newspaper. He became a presenter, producer, and ITV journalist before becoming a senior executive director for Endemol TV. Then he began working as chief creative officer, international production and executive vice president for Sony Pictures Television International.

“The Venice Conspiracy” is the first novel in the “Tom Shaman” series, which was released in the year 2010. Ex-priest Tom Shaman, who has become jaded after years in the ghetto in Los Angeles, decides to go on a last minute trip out to Venice, and gets much more than the vacation he was hoping for. Tom finds that he is tossed into a series of ritual killings that is unlike anything Venice has seen before.

After being enlisted by the Italian cops, Tom teams up with an investigator by the name of Valentina Morassi to dig into the city’s darkest parts of its history. Stretching from an ancient civilization in 700 BC as well as the sexual decadence of 18th century Italy to the brutal underworld of modern day Venice. While Tom and Valentina track the murders throughout the centuries, they find a deadly secret. It is one that generations have killed to keep. It is a priceless Etruscan mosaic that is known as the Gates of Hell.

This one had readers hooked the entire way through it, as it has a ton of excitement and plenty of suspense. The author is great at setting the scene and building things up for the book’s conclusion.

“The Rome Prophecy” is the second novel in the “Tom Shaman” series, which was released in the year 2011. A woman has just been arrested in the streets of Rome. She is beautiful and young and covered in blood. She claims that she is an ancient prophet that is searching for a mystical amulet that has been hidden some place in the city.

Ex-priest Tom Shaman partners up with a headstrong policewoman to figure things out. Within Rome’s churches and power corridors, however, there are stealthy enemies working against them. Quickly the woman’s lethal visions start coming true.

The characters are developed nicely and the descriptions are well done. The author has penned a superb follow up to an equally well done story. The conclusion was quite thrilling and readers dig just how it all ended.

“Spider” is the first novel in the “Jack King” series, which was released in the year 2008. The press refers to him as the Black River Killer and his stats are pretty shocking. Sixteen murders and has eluded capture for twenty years, and the FBI’s best profiler, named Jack King, who is beaten and burned out, his career is shattered. Jack and his wife run a hotel in Tuscany. Though he still has nightmares, rural Italy is an entire world away from BRK’s brutal crime scenes in South Carolina.

So Jack thought. While Italian police find a young woman’s body, her remains have been mutilated just like BRK’s victims. A gruesome package shows up at the FBI, a pair of events that conspire to get the profiler back into action. This time, who is the fly and who is the spider?

The author knows how to keep things moving and give things the impression they are moving quickly. The suspense keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout, too.

“Viper” is the second novel in the “Jack King” series, which was released in the year 2009. Brilliant profiler Jack King is on a psychologist named Luciano Creed’s trail, he is obsessed with five missing women’s cases. Jack is sure this Creed guy is not all that he seems to be.

The burnt bones of one of these missing women are discovered in the foothills Mount Vesuvius. In just days, a serial killer’s secret bone yard is found and uncovered. For the Carbinieri’s newest detective, Sylvia Tomms, this is a tough first case and she asks Jack for help.

Naples is in the horrifying Camora mob’s grip. Jack and Sylvia quickly find just how dangerous hunting down one killer can get, in a city where killing has started to be a way of life.

This one keeps you gripped with all of its turns and twists in it and some readers were left guessing the entire way through as to what would happen next. Morley has included some very clever suspense in this that helps the story move nicely.

“Spree” is the first stand alone novel, which was released in the year 2014. A madman is off on a rampage on the streets of Los Angeles. The City of Angels is now The City of Fear. Everyone from the Oval Office on down is looking for a quick result. The heat is on Jake Mottram, the head of the FBI’s brand new Spree Killer Unit, as well as Angie Holmes, psychological profiler to catch the killer responsible.

They have been great together, up until recently. Both on the job and in bed. A killer is about to come between them, however, and in ways that might cost them a lot more than just their careers. Are they going to survive the spree that is about to come?

“The Stonehenge Legacy” is a stand alone novel, which was released in the year 2011. Just eight days after the start of summer, the corpse of a man is found on the grounds of Stonehenge, with some odd symbols carved into his flesh. Amid all the media frenzy, the case is passed to Meg Redfern, a Wiltshire policewoman. She in turn appeals to a young Cambridge historian called Gideon Chase, who is an expert on British archaeology.

Their investigation threatens to uncover a secret society, one that is an international legion devoted to Stonehenge for thousands of years. A ruthless new leader is at the helm, and the cult is performing some ritual human sacrifices in a horrifying bid to unlock the stones’ secret.
