The Froggy series kicked off in 1992 with the publication of the first book. The debut book in this fun series was titled Froggy Gets Dressed. Originally released by Penguin Books, Froggy Gets Dressed has now seen more than one printing. Pick it up and you will see why this book is so well-liked by adults and kids and get to meet the character of Froggy for the very first time!
There have since been several books in the highly-read Froggy series by Jonathan London. Froggy is the main character in these books, and he is always getting into an adventure.
Froggy Gets Dressed is the first book in the Froggy series. If you have never picked up Jonathan London’s books before, this is a great series to get started with. This fictional series is guaranteed to always be light in tone and full of silliness that encourages children to actively participate when reading it, making it more engaging than your average children’s book.
Froggy is excited when he sees that there are snowflakes coming down outside. It is all that he can do to contain himself when he sees those big flakes of snow coming down and drifting slowly out of the sky. There’s a lot that he can think of to do in the snow and when it comes down to it, he’s really pumped to have the chance to experience some of this winter fun for himself.
Froggy is really excited to go out and play. He is so excited that he gets ahead of himself and jumps out into the snow and begins to play. He is as rambunctious and fun-loving as they come, but then his mother comes out. She calls him back and reminds him to place some clothing on himself. Froggy got so excited to play in the snow that he forgot to get dressed!
Sometimes even frogs can get ahead of themselves. When it comes to this adventure, Froggy is happy to come back inside the home and put on the proper gear for playing in snow. Frogs aren’t always used to the snow, so it’s going to be better that he put on the clothing anyway. Pick up this delightful debut book in the Froggy series and read it with your child to catch all of the winter snow fun!
Froggy Goes to School is the silly second book in Jonathan London’s cute and totally original Froggy series. Everyone’s favorite frog is up to take on any challenge, even the challenge of going somewhere that they have never been to for the first time. Such is the case with Froggy when it comes to school.
Froggy’s mother thinks that every kid is at least a little bit nervous deep down inside when it comes to their first day of school. But when it comes to Froggy, he is telling her that he is just fine. His mother isn’t sure what to do but she chooses to believe him for now, even if there is a part of her in the back of her mind that is telling her that she is wrong about it because surely all kids have at least a bit of worry about going to a new school for the first time.
She wonders whether Froggy will be nervous about whether or not he can make friends at this new school. Everyone worries about fitting in a little bit, but once they start talking to people in their class they find out that everyone else is trying to make new friends and is maybe a little bit worried about that too.
Froggy and his mom go hopping down to the stop where the bus is going to come to get him. Froggy says that he is just fine and isn’t nervous at all. His mom starts to think that he is telling the truth! Reading this with a child is a great way to ease them into the idea of going to school and to give them the reassurance that going to school isn’t scary and can be quite fun.
Kids will love hearing about the many antics of Froggy and seeing and hearing him hop around all about. No matter what Froggy does, he will always have the support of his mother. Check out the fun book that journal reviews are calling charming and so many other readers, parents, teachers, librarians and more have fallen in love with. If you loved these two books, check out the other books in this series and see if you like any of the other numerous children’s books written by Jonathan London!
