Jonathan Maberry is a renowned American horror and fiction writer born on 18th may 958 in Kingstone Philadelphia. Jonathan is popularly known as a bestselling author in the New York Times, a thriller legend, playwright, magazine feature writer, lecturer and content creator.
Maberry is so far a proud winner of several Awards. He has won multiple Bram Stoker Awards for his famous works such as The Ghost Roads Blues in 2006, The Dust and Decay in 2011 and The Flesh And The Bone in 2012.
Jonathan Maberry currently lives with their son Sam and his wife Sara in Der Mar California. He also appears in many conferences, libraries and schools as a key speaker, guest and mentor on matters of comic, non-fiction and horror novel writing.
Jonathan Maberry’s Career
Jonathan Maberry went to Frankford high school and later proceeded to the Temple University in his youth age. He learnt martial arts at a very young age so as to protect himself and his family in the hostile neighborhood they lived in. this martial arts training and experience became a key factor in writing his first books. The books he wrote under such inspirations include: Judo And You in 1990, The Ultimate Sparring of 2003 and The Ultimate Jujutsu, published in 2002.
Later, Jonathan changed his mind on writing novels based on martial arts and changed his writing based on Occult Paranormial and pure folklore. He drew his inspirations from novels such as The Vampire Universe, Hunt Us, Hunger For Us and The Dark World of Supernatural Beings That Haunt Us All, published at the Citadel Press. Other books that greatly inspired him are The Forensics Of The Living Dead, The Cryptopedia and The Bite which he wrote in partnership with F. Kramer in 2007 and 2009 respectively.
Jonathan Maberry’s first book, Ghost Road Blues won The Bram Stoker Award in 2007 in the category of best new novel. This was his first book in The Pine Deep Trilogy and was quickly followed by his popular book, The Dead Man’s Song in the 2007 and later Bad Man Rising in 2008. These books were all published at the pinnacle books.
Jonathan Maberry is also a popular freelance comic writer other than been a thriller novelist. He has had several of his comic books published in various platforms both online and offline. One of his obvious and well remembered publication that was later used as a backup in Wolverine: Anniversary on April 2009. Jonathan nevertheless became a regular writer in The Black Panther by Marvel’s; although he picked as from the 7th episode. He later wrote the Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher and Doom War in 2010. He however did this after completing writing The Marvel Zombies Return: Wolverine.
Jonathan Maberry however made his best sell when the Wolfman was novelized in 2010. The movie starred Anthony Hopkins, Benico Del Toro, Hugo Weaving and Anthony Hopkins. On March 2010, his novel Wolfman appeared in the New York Times’ mass-market paperback, at number 35.This was one of his major achievements on his writing career for the short period of time he had been in publishing industry.
Jonathan Maberry considers his win in 2010’s Bram Stoker Award as the best novelist for his young adult novel entitled Rot and Sun in 2010 as his most prestigious award. Jonathan Maberry later made it his first novel in his Apolyptic Zombie Series.

Maberry’s work inspired Department Zero Program: A Television Pilot by Javier Grillo Marxuach in 2010.The program was later aired on ABC television in the same year.

Jonathan Maberry was inducted into the martial arts wall of fame in 2004 for holding the 8th black belt in the then famous Shinowara-ryu Jujutsu. He is also the founder of Writers CoffeeHouse.
Jonathan has also been a major speaker of the national writers union, which s mentors the mystery writers association and the horror writers association. He is also a member of international thrillers association and heads the NJ-PA chapter in the horror writers association.
Maberry regularly contributes as an editor to The Big Thrill, which is a monthly newsletter for The International Thriller Writers. He is also one of the founders of The Liars Club, which is a professional networking group for entertainment and professional publishers.
Awards and Nominations
Jonathan Maberry’s Awards and nominations started in 2003 when his name was entered into the hall of fame for the writers Award in International Martial Arts. Three years after, his novel, Ghost And Blues got a nomination and won the famous Bram Stoker Award. This was in the category of best first novel.
Jonathan Maberry was again nominated for the same Award in 2009, but now for his novel, Patient Zero which he didn’t win. In 2010 his two novels, Rot And Ruin and Wanted Undead or Alive also got nominated in The Bram Stoker Award for the category of best novel and best non-fiction book. Jonathan carried the day for the later. He eventually added more Awards in 2011 when his adult novel, dust and decay won the Bram Stoker’s young adult novel Award. Other Awards he has claimed include the best graphic novel in 2011’s Bram Stoker Awards and the 2012’s Bram Stoker Award’s best young adult novel among others.
Jonathan Maberry has greatly contributed to the publication world. His work ranges from book series, comic novels and non-fiction books. Some of his novel series include The Pine Deep Trilogy, Joe Ledger Series and Benny Imura Series. His popular non-fiction works include The Martial Arts Student Log Book of 2002 and Judo And You of 1991. He has also written several comics; Marvel Universe vs. Wolverine being the popular among them all.
