About Jonny Garza Villa
The American writer Jonny Garza is an author with much to say, creating a style and tone that is very much their own. Speaking and writing about their life and experiences, they really capture something truly unique, interesting, and different. Their perspective is fresh and innovative, often using their own experiences to help inform both them and their work. Writing fictional novels, they largely focus on LGBT titles from a Latinx perspective, set firmly in the Young Adult contemporary brand.
This isn’t to say that their work can’t be enjoyed by a wider audience though, as the universality of their themes are something to really be admired. Appreciated by readers from all over the world, their work has seen them go on to become a household name, reaching the bookshelves of many. Writing in an accessible and open style, they really have a way with words that’s quite unlike anything else. Instantly grabbing the reader, they keep them there, with their intriguing premise, and not letting up until the final page.
Inspired by their own identity and who they are, they speak from the heart, creating stories that really stand the test of time. Coming from a Mexican American household, they speak in a direct manner that’s achieved them not only critical acclaim, but bestselling status too. Their characters are also very well drawn, establishing a very real presence upon the page that definitely leaves an impact upon the reader. With lots more to come still, their writing isn’t finishing any time soon, as they continue both onwards and upwards.
Early and Personal Life
Born in Mexico, Jonny Garza Villa would be raised upon the Gulf Coast, as they held a fascination in all things literature from an early age. Interested in exploring themselves and their outlook, they would go on to become a prominent member of the LGBT community, something which would heavily inspire their writing. Along with this their Latinx culture and Mexican roots would also be an integral part to their identity, which they’d explore through their work.
All of this would see them becoming a hugely influential author in time, allowing them to speak to their experience. Creating an approach that was entirely unique to them, they’d continue to develop both their style and their voice on the page. Still writing to this day, there is much planned for in the future, as they’ll carry on writing for many years yet.
Writing Career
The fist book they would write was titled ‘Fifteen Hundred Miles from the Sun’ and it would be a Young Adult novel. It would feature many themes and ideas that were important to them, many of which would go on to shape their writing career throughout the years to follow. Looking to represent young Latinx people through their work, they’ve managed to shine a light on an otherwise overlooked area in Young Adult literature.
Gaining awards and acclaim from critics and readers alike, they’ve managed to spark the interest of many around the world. Maintaining a presence both online and off, they regularly communicate with their fans, keeping them continually updated. With their writing career going from strength-to-strength, they’ll be continuing to develop and grow as a writer with something to say.
