Jordan Creed is a Canadian author of young adult and science fiction novels best known for “The Breacher Trilogy” series of novels. He grew up as a home-schooled child and was always reading stories from a very young age. He used to set out his toys and stuffed animals on the floor and gave them distinct characteristics after which he would compose great stories about them. Creed would continue with his love for stories until his early teens, when he became more interested in television shows and movies. His passion for writing was inspired by a very intense song by Daft Punk which he was listening to while playing a video game. A very emotional scene appeared to him almost in a vision and he knew that he had to put it down on paper. He set about writing it down and was about to delete it when he thought he should show it to his parents first. His parents loved it and encouraged him to write even more. Soon after he became addicted to writing and by the time he turned nineteen he had his first novel “The Breacher” published.

Jordan Creed finds his inspiration to write from a fear of not having enough time to put all of his ideas on paper. Since his teenage years he had always dedicated himself to ensuring that none of his stories would wither away before he wrote them down. His lead character in the “Breacher Trilogy” is Nathan Hardline, a character who bears a striking resemblance to the author’s character. He wrote the character as an archetypal hero that he derived from his mind thus making him similar to himself in personality. However, Hardline is different from his creator as he prefers to focus on the world around him rather than the philosophical and abstract conception of the author, who spends much of his time inside his mind. Nonetheless, both of them see the happy things and the beauty in other people and study the underlying principles and causes of prosperity, success, pain and suffering in society. In later drafts, he makes a Nathan Hardliner that is more introspective, though he still retains a very similar aptitude to that of his creator. Looking back, Jordan Creed asserts that the final Nathan protagonist will always be his sixteen year old self that has never grown up to this day.

The Breacher Trilogy is the story of the lead protagonist Nathan Hardline who is on a quest to save his family from an evil system that had colonized his home planet. However, over the course of the series his motives, objectives, and goals shift and grow so that he now fights for the life of the entire colonized planet. Given that he is just sixteen years old when he starts, he is still uncertain and hesitant in making important decisions and makes many errors along the way. The concept for the novel was born when Jordan Creed was fifteen and was fiddling around with concepts that he had seen in a science fiction movie. Population control had always been something that he had been interested in, particularly the many different forms it could take. Creed took a day to develop the world of the Colony in his “Breacher Trilogy”. He made an outline of how the “Discards” would get rid of persons that were least efficient using “Purpose scores” to control the population. He so loved the idea that it was not long before he had found suitable settings to locate his otherworldly setting for his story. Not long after that the concepts of the Northborns, Nathan Hardline, and the Colony came into being. The plot took quite a while to write and develop, but once he hit the road he ran with it and by the time he was eighteen, the first novel was complete.

“The Breacher” the first novel of the Breacher Trilogy is an exhilarating story about a colonized planet put under a ruthless System, a system that shows no mercy and is always watching. The system is essentially a colony that has built a suffocating wall, a prison that locks all human beings behind its metal gates. The Colony decides the level and worth of a human and anyone that loses his value loses his life. Life is not any better outside the metal walls of the colony as they are full of Screechers that prowl the rugged wild lands full of toxic fumes that can kill with just one gulp. But underneath their feet, energy is locked up, energy the ruling Council craves and would do anything and anyone to get hold of it. Both sides of the metal wall are perilous with the Breachers the only creatures able to survive on either side due to a quirk of nature and biology. Nathan Hardline’s brother has just been earmarked for death by the system and the only way for him to be saved is for Hardline to become a Discard. However, that is not the only thing he has to do, as the Breachers have blasted a hole through the Department Walls. Meanwhile, the Council is held up in a secretive meeting which could portend the end of the world for Nathan and his brother. But if he tries to eavesdrop it could be the end of him as the Council takes its secret meetings very seriously.

“The Breacher: Revenant” the second novel of the series is novel that asks the fundamental question of whether a war is worth it. Nathan needs answers to the why and how he survived one of the most vicious of wars. But finding answers in the stone corridors tunneled thought ancient labyrinths under the mountain is proving quite hard. His research only reveals references to “The Beast” and “Trials”, which are things he does not understand. The mystery of the mountains is not one of those things he needs to find answers for immediately. His most immediate concern is the return of the Northborns to the Colony, which means that the day of their executions draws ever closer with each passing day. Nevertheless, saving his family is harder than he thought it would be as the Colony recently implemented changes that may require him to make a choice between his ideals, friends, and family. To what extent will he go to save his loved ones?
