Working under the pen-name JT Sawyer, this American author is well known for his unique brand of science-fiction and horror novels. With a background in the military, he’s highly regarded for the sense of accuracy he brings to the genre, making it more engrossing and realistic in the process. Teaching his skills of survival in various courses across America, he also brings his knowledge to his material as well, leading to it becoming a lot more engaging. The name of JT Sawyer is a pen-name for him, with his proper name being Tony Nester, the name which he uses in his day-to-day life.

Early and Personal Life

Born Tony Nester, he grew up in America with a clear love for both reading and writing, something which would later come to define his adult career as an author. Understanding survival from an early age as well, this would also come to shape him as a person in the following years to come. With a keen interest in the military too, he would use his background to create the novels that his many readers would come to appreciate him for. This is something that he has continued with throughout his entire life, dedicating himself to it, along with helping others understand the art of survival as well.

Getting an in-depth knowledge on the art of survival and military tactics, Nester would create a strong profile as an expert in his craft. Continually coming back to writing, though, he would carry on building his name as an author and novelist of high-concept genre fiction. With a clear understanding he would keep returning to writing throughout his education, honing and refining his voice constantly.

Being an individual with a strong affinity for the great outdoors, he would come appreciate nature and all it had to offer. This would later be put back into his work, as many of his science-fiction, thriller and horror novels would incorporate elements of the apocalypse into them. Giving them a sense of realism unlike any other, he would take his books to another level, allowing them to be elevated for his readers in the process.

With a lot more planned on the horizon, Tony Nester is still currently writing full-time as an author suspense filled military fiction. Giving instructions and teaching the art of survival to others, he is a highly vocal practitioner of his craft, both online and off. Showing no signs of stopping any time soon, his writing career grows from strength-to-strength, something which will carry on into the foreseeable future.

Writing Career

Releasing his first book under the name of JT Sawyer back in 2014, he brought out the title ‘First Wave’, which was also the first book in the series of the same name. Set in the aftermath of the apocalypse, they follow the leading protagonist Travis Combs as he travels across the wastelands trying to bring order back once again. Incorporating survival elements as well, it manages to draw upon a number of influences, whilst also remaining true to the original ideas and intentions of the author himself.

Receiving praise for his work and various contributions to the world of genre fiction, Nester is an author of much repute. Lauded by both his many peers and contemporaries, he has achieved a public profile that many similar writers aspire to. Garnering commercial success as well, he has gained public approval to, amassing a worldwide audience and fan-base that reaches not only nationally, but internationally too.

Still writing to this very day, he continues to write full-time as an author of genre fiction, building his audience every day. Knowing and understanding what he is writing about, readers have come to appreciate not only his ability for crafting a suspense filled story, but allowing his characters to resonate as well. This is something that will continue for some time yet, as there are plenty more titles planned on the horizon, with many more books set to be released for some time to follow.

No Place To Hide

Setting up the third entry in the ongoing ‘First Wave’ series of books, this was to continue on from the previous two books in the franchise. Coming out on the 7th of August in 2014, this was originally released on the Kindle to much acclaim, along with a keen set of fans eagerly awaiting it. Taking place in a post-apocalyptic environment, it charts the events of a disaster struck Earth, as people attempt to survive and get by.

Heading for Durango where they hope to find the secret laboratory there, Travis Combs and his intrepid squad of fighters aim to secure a vaccine there. There are powerful forces, though, who also aim to secure this particular vaccine, and it is up to Travis to get there before they do. Adding to that there is a horde of zombies in close pursuit, along with a traitor within their group, but no-one know whom exactly. Will they secure the vaccine? Can they escape the danger? What will they do when they find that there’s no place to hide?

Hell Week

Marking the first in a series for the author Tony Nester, this was a foray into familiar territory for him and his readers. Brought out on the 3rd of March in 2014, this was initially released through the Kindle for his now loyal following of readers worldwide. Whilst it delivered many of the tropes and ideas that he’d become famous for, it also managed to offer some surprises along the way.

This time taking the zombie genre and putting a band of SEALs in there to fight them, the novel provides a unique take on the formula. The sole survivor in the city of LA, James Enroy finds him and his team facing a horde of the undead following a bioweapon attack on humanity. Leaving large sections of the populace as crippled zombies, they attempt to overthrow a criminal kingpin who has transformed the LA Zoo into gladiator arena pitting zombies against humans. Will they succeed in restoring order? Can they even hope to survive long enough to achieve their mission? What will happen in hell week?
