Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens are the husband and wife team that is known for the writing and producing of several fantasy fiction novels and movie franchises. In 2013 the team was recognized with a Constellation Award at the Toronto Constellation Award ceremony. The award was given for the role in the creation of the “Primeval: New World” series, which earned them Outstanding Canadian Contribution to Science Fiction Television or Film. In genre media, the couple is best known for their contribution to the “Star Trek” franchise. The Reeves-Stevenses have been involved in the penning of more than twenty Star Trek novels, have written ten with William Shatner, six on their own, and four nonfiction volumes in the franchise. They have also been co-producers and executive story editors on “Star Trek: Enterprise.” They also made cameos in the final episode of the series “These Are the Voyages.” Before that, they were involved in “The Lost World” series by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle as supervising producers and staff writers of the second and third seasons. They were also involved in “Batman: The Animated Series,” where they penned several of the episodes.

In addition to their works in television and features they have been involved in the Reeses-Stevenses have also written other novels such as “Wraith” that has been praised as a cataclysmic thriller featuring undead armies, disembodied psychics and zombies. Their novels are known for their sly condemnations of contemporary American culture, rich atmosphere, and deft characterizations. They have also been known to venture into other genres such as history. Their 2010 novel “Search” was called an archeological quest that combines a solid scientific backdrop with a fast-moving fantasy plot to make for a compelling and suspenseful read. They have also written high popular techno-thrillers such as “Freefall,” “Quicksilver,” and “Icefire.” Steven King praised “Icefire” as a totally riveting and hardwired novel full of suspense and heroism that dared you to put it down. While similar to the novels by the likes of Coonts or Clancy, the novel would give the likes of “The Hunt for Red October” a run for its money. Before Garfield teamed up with Judith to write mainstream thrillers, fantasy and Star Trek, he had written five novels on his own that blended technology and horror. In fact, Garfield Reeves-Stevens had the honor of being called the Tom Clancy of horror by Stephen King. Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens best-known nonfiction series is “The Chronicles of Galen Sword” a fantasy/science fiction trilogy series. The novels follow the adventures of a young and rich New York City playboy known as Galen Sword. He is on a quest to come back to the world of sorcerers, vampires, and werewolves from where he had been exiled to grow up as an orphan child.

“Shifter” the first novel of “The Chronicles of Galen Sword” series by Judith & Garfield Reeves-Stevens introduces Galen Sword. The people he hangs out with in New York are oblivious of the fact that his car has state of the art equipment that can track down otherworldly creatures or that he is on a quest to find a world from where he had been exiled. He has vague memories of being banished from his home planet and sent away from his parents. With his memories coming back, he develops an obsession to get back home, where he had been heir in waiting to a powerful noble family. What his fellow New Yorkers do not know is that he is unacceptably and unaccountably human. To get back home, he needs to find and capture a monster that had come from his home planet and into the streets of New York. It is a very dangerous and very real threat to the people of New York and to Galen. Things are not any easier for Galen Sword, who also has to fight a race of magical, brutal beasts that have immense power that is almost impossible to defeat. In a world full of shifters, werewolves, magic horror and wonderment Sword assembles a crack team that will help him battle the monsters and help him reclaim what is rightfully his. But the price to be paid may be too high.

“Nightfeeder” is a continuation of the story of Galen Sword, the man who lives in the world of deadly creatures, vampires, demons and werewolves. He is the heir to the King of the Pendagron Clan and as such was destined to become a great warrior. But he had been expelled from his home and had his memories and birthright stolen from him when he was banished to a world without hope, without magic or substance – to planet Earth. Two decades later he is a young man when a chain of bizarre events restore his memory of what he is and what he might become of he embraces his destiny. Galen is determined to uncover the truth and find his way back home. But he has no powers of his own and has to depend on science. They are soon caught up the First World politics as the shapeshifters and vampires go at each other’s throats provoked by the Greater Clan Seyshen, in a war that spills onto the streets of New York City. There is a complicated but intriguing back story with a lot of action as Galen tries to get back home.

Judith and Garfield Reeves-Stevens third novel in the “Chronicles of Galen Sword” is a novel that continues the story of Galen combining high tech fantasy, demon legends, vampires and werewolves. Galen is a powerless adept that was expelled from his home planet and onto planet Earth. He has been struggling to reclaim his identity and go back to his homeland to reclaim his inheritance but it has been tough. He is working with a half-werewolf who has the mind of a six-year-old. Other characters helping him include an engineering whiz kid, the Japanese American girl who surprisingly hates his guts. He is also abetted by a particle physicist who lives in a wheelchair that had been struck by enchantment. The physicist lost his powers of speech and now talks through a computer like some kind of Stephen Hawking. It is a pacey narrative with magic crystals, weird shapeshifters, exotic weapons, werewolves, weird shapeshifters, vampire clans that get into all manner of brawls and encounters.

I was wondering if there were any new books on Galen Sword after the Dark Hunter. I absolutely love the character and the trilogy but would love to read more.

Thank you for your time – and I wish you a very merry Christmas.
