The Woman He Married
The Woman He Married is the debut in the A Magic City Duo series. It tells a story about marriage, family, and the bond that holds both together. At some point, Josie is an inspiring young and vibrant attorney who dreams of taking on the world’s injustices, each case at a time.
It’s now eleven years later, living as a stay-at-home mother and fighting the demons that might not need her law degree. She has managed to pretend that her life is good, but it becomes unbearable after seeing a bracelet that was supposed to be hers worn by another lady.
Josie has been married to John for eleven years with three children. John is a lawyer and running to become a judge. As for Josie, she was almost becoming a lawyer but got pregnant and had to stay home looking after the kids, forcing her to put her career aside. Things went well in the first years until the once lovebirds started pulling away.
Josie’s marriage slowly changes as her ex-lover comes back into her life. And when he offers her a dream she has lost hopes in, she will have to choose between the man she let slip away from her and the man she ended up married to.
Josie had originally fallen in love with Brian McAllister while in college and law school in California. They used to travel the world together as they helped people in need. However, one summer, Josie had to go home instead of traveling with Brian because his father was seriously sick. During this period, the two lost connection, and Josie fell in love with John.
John has always known what he wanted in life, a career as a high attorney, a perfect family of six, and being elected to public service. It was no surprise when he focused on Josie because he was sure he wanted to share his dreams with her.
Now it’s over a decade, and everything John has worked hard for is getting away. Even though he is unable to stop what’s happening, one thing that he is sure about is that he can’t lose the woman he married.
Josie is a free spirit woman with a lot of confidence and strength as she saves the planet and shines on the people surrounding her. However, things took a different direction when she got married to John. Her always-bright spark went off courtesy of her husband with negative criticism and lowered her self-esteem over the years.
John treated her as if she had no worth pushing her to live the life of a nanny. He never listened to anything that Josie said about her dreams in life. He ignored her and the children and got more arrogant on his career ladder.
He was ready to risk everything by choosing to cheat on his wife with his ex-girlfriend. As if neglecting his family wasn’t enough, John openly humiliates Josie in public since everyone knows about the affair. To make matters worse, he drags his name and that of his family into the dirt with a scandal.
The story mainly focuses on the couple’s turmoil as the truth of John’s actions comes to light. It’s so inspiring how Josie finally gets the chance to be lively once more and live the life she had before her husband put down her self-esteem.
The story makes the reader question whether, in the modern world, women can have a perfect family and a good career. It’s a story of a woman who lost track while caring for her family. The funny thing is that Josie isn’t the only one who misses the woman she was before having a family.
As Josie and John confront the mistakes they have committed in their marriage, the author helps the reader see how both parties realize how their marriage came to that point.
