Linde currently lives in Lubbock, Texas with her husband and two puppies.
Avoiding Commitment
Avoiding Commitment is the first novel in Avoiding series by K.A. Linde. The book introduces two characters by the name Jack and Lexi who have never been in any healthy relationship. After staying for two years without speaking, she gets a phone call that ultimately changes everything. Jack somehow asks if Lexi could convince the new girl in the block Bekah that he is ready to commit. Lexi cannot imagine how on earth he had the guts to call her and talk about another woman after what they had been through together. She, in fact, cannot believe it.
It is revealed that Lexi and Jack were in a relationship and that he broke her heart. However, through the conversation that they hold it is evidently clear that some unresolved feelings are lingering. The two had a beautiful history, and Lexi has never recovered from what her Jack did to her. Finally, Jack convinces her and Lexa agree to do this favor for her old friend. Follow Lexi in this tragic drama as she relives her past relationship with Jack and not just in her mind but also to his fiancé-to-be. Read this classic tale of broken hearts and find out what happens to Lexis as she moves to Atlanta to get the closure she desires from Jack and how the obstacles of life keep getting in her way.
Avoiding Commitment is an entertaining series debut. The relationship that exists between Lexi and Jack is a complex one. However, the love and the desire they have for each other is evident. However, their love is concealed by the fact that they get involved in other relationships. Moreover, wherever they ruin every single relationship they get into, it is like their love is toxic. It is in the air between them (Jack and Lexi) is so dense to the point of suffocating in their presence. They desire each other with an incredible force that makes it hard to break. There is never the right time for them to be together and Jack is to blame.
Jack is a heartbreaker and a habitual liar. Nearly each single word he ever told Lexi was a lie, but she believed him. Each lie felt like a lashing to Lexi’s heart. It was heartbreaking and painful for her to bear; however, her heartbroken heart would mend together with the comforting and soothing words from Jack. Lexi became weak and powerless under his gaze.
Lexi would give Jack everything that he wanted, but she got nothing in return. It is clear that his passion blinded her. One look, a single touch with his tender hands, a few convincing phrases and Lexi was done. Reading the novel you would think that he would abide by all the convincing promises he made to her, but then he just did something unthinkable.
On the other hand, Lexi and Jack are not the only players in this narrative. You will meet Bekah, Ramsey, (Bekah’s brother) along with Chyna, Lexi’s good friend.
Ramsey is a good character, a total sweetheart. Lexi had some spark of feelings towards him but did not want to get herself involved with regardless of the circumstances. Jack, on the other hand, was someone she had loved for long over and over and yet all he could do to her was to continue hurting her, lie to her and destroy her over and over without feeling any remorse.
Both the primary and the secondary characters are well crafted; the storyline is well developed and connects well from the first page to the last.
Avoiding Responsibility
Avoiding responsibility is the second novel in Avoiding series by Linde. The story picks up where the first one left off. Back in New York City Lexi is left alone to heal her broken heart. On the other hand, the plans for Jack and Bekah’s wedding are underway. In this second novel of the series, Jack is given a background role while Ramsey becomes the primary focus. Jack left Lexi heartbroken, and Ramsey comes in to pick up the pieces of the broken heart. Even though Lexi and Jack’s relationship did change almost immediately, Lexi’s tendency to make the abysmal decision did not. She always seemed to settle for the second best. Even though Ramsey may have developed feelings of love towards Lexi, it was clear that he was still hung up on his former girlfriend, Parker.
Lexi has a lot of character development in the second novel. She is more mature, stronger and makes better decisions than she did in the first book. However, like any other human being, she still makes mistakes, and this time instead of running away from her problems, she gathers her courage and faces all of them head on. Ramsey, on the other hand, is excellent, fantastic and a hero. Even though Lexi confesses to him about her and Jack’s affairs, he does not judge. He trusts her and loves her unconditionally.
The avoiding series is one of the best series you will ever read. It is full of emotions as well as drama. It is always fun to get entangled with these characters world. Their relationships were a mess and made so many mistakes that would make your cry or scream. Everything aspect of this two books is impressive, right from the characters, plot development dialogue, settings, and the writing style itself. The author has written one compelling series that will leave readers emotional. Above all, they teach a moral life lesson about love, when to love, whom to love and when to let go regardless of how hard it can feel.
