Author Karen Witermeyer grew up in California before moving to Texas to go to Abilene Christian University, where she got master’s and bachelor’s degrees in Psychology. While attending the school, she met and married a Texas hero of her own. The guy roped her in real good, as she has lived in Texas ever since.

She has fallen in love with the rugged land of enduring pioneer spirit and sweeping sunsets, she puts into the pages of her books. Witermeyer also sets her stories in the tiny towns that came into greatness during the mid to late 1800s.

Besides writing, she is a shower singer, an avid cross-stitcher, and bakes a stellar apple cobbler.

Karen lives her dream of writing novels, after being a bookworm her entire life. Her work consistently hits bestseller lists and have won awards, like: the Holt Medallion, the ACFW Carol Award, and the Inspirational Reader’s Choice Award. She has also been a finalist for the National Reader’s Choice Award and multiple RITAs.

“Short-Straw Bride” is the first novel in the “Archer Brothers” series, which was released in the year 2012. Nobody steps on Archer land. Especially not if they value their life. When Meredith Hayes hears about a lethal plot to burn the Archer brothers off of their ranch. A debt from twelve years ago makes her take the risk.

Fourteen years constantly being vigilant will harden a man. Travis Archer has a tough time, however, when a female trespasser who has the exact same blue eyes as the courageous young girl he helped one. He just cannot bring himself to send her away. An act of sacrifice ends with her injured and her reputation in ruins, guilt and gratitude make him ride to rescue her again.

Four brothers and four straws. Just a single bride. Despite Travis not being the gallant youth that Meredith used to dream about, she is determined to stand by his side against the enemy that is threatening both of them. Is love ever going to be hers? Or is Travis going to always see her just as a short straw bride?

This is a wonderful story that made some have a hard time putting down for very long, and when they did, they were still pondering what would happen next. It has some great wholesome values that does a great job to inspire and some poignant romance that stirs the heart. Witermeyer is great at writing some humorous fiction that has some great faith lessons.

“Stealing the Preacher” is the second novel in the “Archer Brothers” series, which was released in the year 2013. When going to interview for a job at a church in the Piney Woods in Texas, Crockett Archer has a hard time believing that a retired outlaw forces him off the train. Then, he is presented to the guy’s daughter as the minister she wanted for her birthday.

He worries that this detour is going to wreck his chances of serving a congregation of his very own, Crockett wants to escape. He finally gets away, and his thoughts keep returning by the memory of the woman he just left behind. Her dreams now hinge on Crockett.

Joanna Robbins has prayed for a preacher for months now. A guy that will breathe some life back into the church that has been abandoned in the center of her community. Someone to help her fulfill a promise to her dying mom. Someone to help discover answers to the questions that have been weighing on her mind and heart for a long time.

It looks like God has answered her prayers, but she finds out the guy was there against his will and has dreams all his own calling him to somewhere else. Can she convince Crockett to stick around the community? Does their attraction for each other stand any sort of a chance when her outlaw dad is against his daughter dating a preacher man?

This one was even better than the first, some feel. The book has parts that will leave you teary eyed, and some happy parts too, and parts that will leave you laughing.

“More Than Meets the Eye” is the first novel in the “Patchwork Family” series, which was released in the year 2018. A lot of people believe Evangeline Hamilton is cursed. She was orphaned when she was young and possesses a pair of eyes that are mismatched, one is dark brown and one bright blue. Evangeline has fought hard to find her way through a world that is constantly rejecting her. The support of just one person is able to help overcome the judgments of the world, and now Evangeline has two, Zach and Seth. These are two fellow orphans that she now considers her brothers.

Logan Fowler is looking for justice against the guy that stole his birthright and ruined his family, he shows up in Pecan Gap, Texas in the 1880s to confront Zach Hamilton. This is the hardened criminal that is responsible for his father’s being killed. Instead of finding a single ruthless gambler, he finds a guy that isn’t much older than he is who has an odd family.

Some enjoyed reading about these characters, especially Zach, and hope he gets his own story. This was a delightful read with tons of depth and heart in it. Readers found themselves adoring the heroine, and the hero grows into the guy she believed he could be. The way the story and character development add to all of it to make this an all around enjoyable read.

“More Than Words Can Say” is the second novel in the “Patchwork Family” series, which was released in the year 2019. Abby is railroaded by the city council. It means that she will need a man’s name to be on the deed to her bakery, and one that she can control. Not Zacharias, the stoic lumberman that seems to exude a silent confidence.

Abby is unable to control her pulse when she is around the man. Trust starts to grow between them, and she realizes she would like more than just his rescue. She also wants his heart, too.

That seems like a question for Amazon support Terryl 🙂

However under “Manage Your Content and Devices” on Amazon do you see the book there? If so you could select it and get it to deliver to your Kindle again. Or if you go to the book listing on Amazon does it say you have already purchased it?
