Kate Klimo is one of the highly reputed novelist from The United States, who is famous for writing children’s books and nonfiction novels. She has been involved in the world of writing since she was in her 4th grade. Author Klimo has now become an established writer and editor of several published books. Recently, she has written a novel that tells the fantastic story of a girl, who goes on a quest for companionship and survival in a world which is filled with half-human creatures. Author Klimo is particularly famous for writing the Dragon Keepers and Dog Diaries series, both of which are highly successful. She says that she was interested in reading and writing about fantasy stories ever since she was in the fourth grade. At that time, she used to think that all the magical realms that she used to read about, in Neverland and Narnia, were real. And as she grew older, she became convinced that the world is a big room with smaller rooms in it. This suspended disbelief state helped her in writing her fantasy books. Author Klimo has been a writer and publisher for almost 30 years of her life. In spite of having such a long writing career, she is unable to say that she had experienced anticipating publication like other writers. Klimo also says that never in her career did she experience the letdown on the date of publication of her books. Whenever she begins writing a book, she tries to write it as a whole without thinking from the perspective of a publisher. And when she gets contacted from the publisher saying that the book can be published just like she has written, Klimo gets very thrilled. She shows her gratitude to God and feels relieved that her hard work has finally paid off. Any story that she writes, she wants that it should reach to numerous other people of the world. And her hopes tend to see the light of the day when her books get published.

Author Klimo believes that the hardest part in being a writer is not overwhelming the characters with the writer’s personality. It is a very delicate thing to give life to the characters on the page and give them space to breathe. And the other hard part of having a career in writing is dealing with the reviews after the release of each and every book. Klimo is certain that everybody is not going to like what all is written in the plots. But, one bad review tends to hamper the writer’s creative thinking. It makes the authors have doubts about themselves and their creativity. Even Klimo learned this lesson in a hard way. In addition to being a well known author, Klimo is also an avid reader of fantasy books. After reading them, she used to develop her own stories based on the storylines of the fantasy stories that she used to read. Klimo still possesses the unfinished stories that she had written as a child along with her best friend named Justine. During the later years of her career, Klimo discovered that both her parents were very frustrated with their respective writing careers. And as they are no more, she has become much more determined to do well in career by writing her heart out. Along with writing for the readers, publishers, and herself, she also writes to honor the memory of her parents. In the end, author Klimo believes that a written work becomes worth reading only when it is written with full honesty by the writer. She gains inspiration for developing her stories from traveling, dreaming, and meeting new people. Klimo feels that she has become a happier person because of her writings.

The Dragon Keepers series written by Kate Klimo is comprised of 6 books in total, which were released between the years 2008 and 2012. One of the initial books written in this series is entitled ‘The Dragon in the Library’. It was released in 2010 by the Random House publishers. Author Klimo has described the lead characters in this book as Emmy, Jesse, Daisy, Professor Anderson, and Sadie Haffington. At the beginning of the story, Daisy and Jesse are shown has having a dragon named Emmy, who has grown into a fully developed dragon. Emmy says that she is missing something, but neither Jesse nor Daisy seems to have any clue as to what does Emmy need. Seeing the state of their beloved dragon, they decide to inquire with Professor Anderson online. They think that he might have a solution to this problem as he is a dragon expert. But, they become shocked when they come to know that Professor Anderson has been kidnapped. Both Jesse and Daisy know that the kidnapper is Sadie Huffington, who is the girlfriend of St George, the Dragon Slayer, their enemy. Sadie seems to have made a wicked plan to capture Emmy as well as find St George by using Professor Anderson. Now, it is up to the cousin dragon keepers to storm the castle of Sadie and rescue Anderson from the vicious pack of dog-men of the witch. With the help this novel, author Klimo has tried to introduce the readers to a library full of magical books. She has included both adventure and action for keeping the story flowing till the end.

Another very interesting book written by Klimo in the series is titled as ‘The Dragon in Volcano’. The Random House publication released it in 2011. The story of this novel opens up by showing that the pet dragon of the Dragon Keepers, cousins Daisy and Jesse becomes a tween. They begin to worry about it as Emmy grows bigger than their garage and starts to disappear every now and then. And when Emmy actually disappears, she luckily leaves behind socks for the cousins as a trail. The cousins follow the trail of the socks and are lead to a volcano. And instead of becoming easier, things begin to get crazier from the moment they reach the volcano. In this novel, author Klimo has tried to describe an altogether different world to the reader. This world is called as Fiery Realm, where the dragons are felled by water skirt and fire fairies disappear mysteriously. And just like the other books of the series, this book too gives a high dose of action, imagination, and adventure to the readers. In the end, the novel turns out to be a great adventure featuring a dragon and a couple of kids, who grow up together.
