An American author of much repute, the renowned writer Kate Parker has been writing her mystery novels for a great many years now, enthralling readers with her ability in combining engaging characters and compelling story-lines that keep them hooked throughout. With a keen interest in both architecture and history, she has a strong sense of accuracy that manages to introduce a sense of realism into the narratives that her audience has come to appreciate. Taking the mystery element into these landscapes then, she has created a winning formula that sets them apart from others in their genre, establishing her as one of the most prolific authors to date.

Early and Personal Life

Born in Washington DC, in the United States of America on the first of August, she grew up in the area harboring a passion for the written word from an early age. This would develop over the intervening years, as she took it forwards, harnessing it along with her sense of style and tone. Her keen interest in the form, when coupled with her love of history and architecture, would go on to inform her later writing career as an adult.

Learning more about her craft over the following years to come, she would educate herself in it, building upon her skills. This would also allow her to create the foundations required for such a career, as it enabled her to find her voice. With the experience as well, she would be able to put it back into her material, along with all that she’d learned on her chosen interests.

Before becoming a fully fledged writer in her own right, though, she held a number of different positions in a number of different industries. Working as an office clerk, an insurance fraud investigator, a telephone line repairer, and in two hospitals as a microbiologist, she’s gained an enormous amount of insight. All of this has enabled her to expand her horizons immensely, something which is definitely reflected within her work.

Continuing to write to this present day, she currently lives in North Carolina, where she both lives and writes. With her passion for nineteenth century architecture as well, she carries on doing what she does best, which is producing mystery novels of a high caliber. As more stories are set to be released in the near future, there’s plenty more novels to come as her writing career grows from strength-to-strength.

Writing Career

Releasing her first book, The Vanishing Thief, in 2013, she not only started her writing career, but she also started her ‘Victorian Bookshop Mystery’ series. Brought out through the Berkley Prime Penguin Random House publishing label, it was to be the book that introduced her readers to her world. It would also work at establishing both her tone and her style, allowing her audience to grow over the following years to come.

With the Victorian Bookshop Mystery novels themselves, Parker had managed to create a strong series to get behind. This particular franchise has consisted of four books so far and counting, although more may be on the way shortly. Her other more recent series is that of the Deadly series, of which there have been two titles so far, and it is also expected to continue as well.

Not just getting commercial success, though, but critical acclaim as well, Kate Parker has become well respected among her peers and contemporaries over the years, as well as with the general public. Gaining the final place on over three separate occasions in the RWA Golden Heart awards contest, she has proven herself as a well established figure on the scene. Coupling that with her status as an international bestselling author as well, and it’s easy to see why she’s one of the most successful writers in her field to date.

All of this has helped her in becoming not only one of the most prolific authors within her field, but also as one of the most versatile too. Writing not just historical novels, but romance novels as well, she has branched out as she’s developed throughout the many years of her career. This can be seen to be reflected in her garnering of a worldwide audience, with her readership at both a national and an international level.

Taking refuge not just in her imaginative stories, she currently resides in North Carolina where she still writes to this very day. Developing her style and her tone, she has come a long in a relatively short amount of time, which definitely means she’s one to watch. With more opportunities to build upon her work, it seems that she’s not stopping anytime soon, as she continues on into the foreseeable future.

The Royal Assassin

Initially published in 2015 on the 7th of July, this was first brought out through the Berkley Prime Crime Random House publishing label. Marking the third title in the ‘Victorian Bookshop Mysteries’ it follows on from where the last left off with an entirely new investigation. It also manages to bring about some twists and turns all of its very own, as it works as an accessible stand-alone for any newcomers as well.

Working for the Archivist society once again, Georgia is called upon to go undercover and protect the Russian princess Kira. After her bodyguard was found dead, it is up to Georgia, posing as Kira’s secretary, to get to the bottom of the case no matter what. With a royal marriage looming for Kira as well, it seems that time is of the essence if they want to solve the case and find who wants to cause her harm. Will they be able to find the perpetrators in time? Can they ensure the marriage goes ahead? What will become of the royal assassin?

Deadly Wedding

Originally brought out through the JDP Press publishing house, this book was first released on the 17th of October in 2016. Making up the second installment in the ongoing ‘Deadly’ series of novels, it follows on directly from where the last title left off. With the characters and the world all firmly established, it manages to develop the ideas and the themes that came before, whilst taking them even further.

Whilst helping Olivia Denis assists an old family friend prepare for her marriage an old man is murdered, an old man with a will only just changed. This had angered his children and there was more than enough motive to commit the deed, something which Olivia needs to get to the bottom of. With aggressive forces seemingly out to attack the family now as well, Olivia is then called away to Nazi occupied Vienna to complete an undercover assignment as part of the war effort. Will she find out who murdered the man? Can she survive Vienna? What will become of the deadly wedding?
