About Kate Sweeney
The award winning American novelist Kate Sweeney has been writing for some years now, having essentially created her own unique style of fiction. This has developed throughout the years, as she’s become a highly influential figure within the industry, finding her own niche. Bringing in readers from all around the world, she’s gone on to attract an international audience regardless of their background. Setting herself apart, she’s well known for her humor and warm gentle wit that’s really engaging for her audience on every level.

Many of her books are set in idyllic settings, as Sweeney often draws from her own life for inspiration when writing. Putting a lot of herself into her work, she really manages to give it a grounded sense of authenticity and realism that brings it to life on the page. Usually it’s rural settings, other times it’s with families, looking at the ties that bond them and how they interact with one another. Sometimes she writes thrillers, but, more often than not, it’s romances, and usually from an LGBT perspective.
Her characters work really well too, as they feel wholly real, allowing the reader to fully invest themselves in what’s happening. Many of the protagonists have fully fleshed out personalities, building a sense of familiarity with the reader as it pulls them in. This works on multiple different levels, giving the stories a very real sense of immediacy, whereby they get straight to the point. With many more planned for the future, she’s definitely got a lot more stories to tell yet, as she continues onwards and upwards.

Early and Personal Life
Born in Chicago in America, the future author to b Kate Sweeney would always be interested in both reading and writing. Over time she would build upon this passion of hers, establishing a voice of her own as an author with something to say. Always writing with a strong sense-of-humor, she would infuse all of her work and stories with her trademark wit.

Continually looking for the next big idea, she would take in inspiration from the world around her feeding it back into her work. This would allow her to have the voice that she has today, as she also continues to work a daytime office job while writing too. Currently living in Villa Park, Illinois, she continues to write on a regular basis, as there’s definitely a lot more to come yet.

Writing Career
In 2006 Kate Sweeney would release her first novel titled ‘She Waits’ and this would also be the first in the ‘Kate Ryan Mysteries’ series of novels. This would go on to win the ‘Golden Crown Literary Society Award’ in 2007, awarded for ‘Debut Author’ marking her as a writer to watch. She’d also gain a Lambda for the second in the series, ‘A Nice Clean Murder,’ and she’d soon be well on her way to becoming a household name.

The Ladies of Carrick Road
Initially published through the Intaglio Publications label, this would first come out on the 13th of October in 2013. It would be its own book working entirely as a stand-alone, not being a part of any overall series as such with a self-contained narrative. Working as a fun and light-hearted read, it’s an easily accessible book that’s easy to pick up and difficult to put down.

It’s a self-contained world and it makes the most of its location, really elevating the surroundings and bringing them to life. Carrick really feels real on the page, as if the reader can actually explore it for themselves, as it’s effortlessly given a high degree of detail. Everything feels fully fleshed out upon the page, as it essentially becomes character in its own right, reflecting the lives of its inhabitants.
The characters themselves are wholly three-dimensional too, living and breathing, as the reader gets to know each and every one of them. All the characters have their own set of unique personality traits, as they stay with the reader long after they’ve put the book down. Everyone seems to fit perfectly into place, allowing the audience to fully understand who they are and what they’re about.

Given a call by her Aunt Rose and her wife Mel, Jackie Quinlan is offered the job of using her skills as an architect in the small town of Carrick in South Carolina. An ambitious architect, Jackie Quinlan jumps at the chance, and it is here that she meets Claire Ramsey who immediately becomes smitten with her. Wanting to become a part of the scene in Carrick, Claire instantly thrusts herself into this new world and social life. Will Jackie and Claire find each other? Can Jackie use her design skills to the fullest? What will become of the ladies of Carrick Road?

Moonbeams and Skye
Originally released in 2013 on the 30th of September, this would first come out through the Intaglio Publications outlet. Following on from the previous title, this would be the second book published in the ‘Winds of Heaven’ series of novels. The first book was itself titled ‘Winds of Heaven’ and it would come out in 2009 on the 29th of September to much acclaim.

With it being a sequel to the first, there is some connection between, so it’s best that they’re read in chronological order. Featuring the young character of Skye as the child who was introduced in the first one, this expands upon that, looking at the next stages for the family. Many of the developments and arcs from before are taken further here, allowing them to fully flourish.

Now the Kennedy-Bennett family have been enjoying six months of newborn bliss, but now Casey has to change Tara’s diaper for the first time. House hunting while Casey works on her musical project for military veterans, dealing with a hectic family and work life. Working together, Casey and Liz come to understand what is required of them in holding it all together as a family. Will they manage it together? Can the overcome their busy schedule? What will they discover between the moonbeams and Skye?
