Katerina Diamond
Author Katerina Diamond was born in Weston on a Friday the 13th during the seventies, and her parents had a fish and chip shop in the Greek community. They moved to Thessaloniki, Greece and she went to Greek school, where she was able to learn Greek in just six months.

After her parents divorced, they relocated to Devon. After school, and working in her uncle’s fish and chip shop, she briefly attended university at Derby. Here, she met her husband, with whom she has two kids with.

“The Teacher” was long listed for the CWA John Creasey Debut Dagger Award and the Hotel Chocolat Award for the ‘darkest moment’.

Katerina’s debut novel, called “The Teacher”, was released in the year 2016, and is the first of her “DS Imogen Grey” series. Her work is from the mystery genre. Her work is published by Avon books.

“The Teacher” is the first novel in the “DS Imogen Grey” series and was released in the year 2016. The head teacher’s body from an exclusive Devon school is found hanging in the assembly hall from the rafters. Just hours before, he had received a package, only he could understand the secret message it was conveying. It meant the end.

While Exeter suffers an increasing count of brutal deaths, troubled DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles have to solve this case and make their city safe once more.

Yet while they are drawn into a web of lies, corruption, and exploitation, each step brings them closer to grim secrets that are hidden at the heart of their community. Once they discover what motivates this killer, are they really going to want to stop him?

The book features an interesting plot with a few dark edges that allows the novel to stand out. The alternating perspectives and time frames are always easy to follow for the reader, and is done brilliantly with events in the present being linked to secrets and actions of the past. Right from the start, the novel hooks you and makes you to desperate to find out why the villain did what they were doing.

“The Secret” is the second novel in the “DS Imogen Grey” series and was released in the year 2016. Can you keep a secret? Your life truly depends on it. Bridget Reid wakes up and finds that she is in a locked room, and some terrifying memories start coming back to her. Of pain, desperate fear, and blood. Her captor knows things about her that she has never told anybody before. How will she escape somebody that knows every single one of her secrets?

While DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles hunt for Bridget, they find a horrible web of betrayal, abuse, and murder that is right under their noses in Exeter.

While the past returns to haunt her, Grey has to confront her own demons, because she knows that it could be those that are closest to us that end up hurting us the most.

This is a quick paced novel with quite a few twists and surprises thrown in. The intrigue in knowing just who to trust and the suspense are depicted well in the novel. Katerina does a great job of creating really multidimensional and makes them face rather fascinating moral dilemmas. Readers found this to be a well penned, difficult to put down, and engrossing novel. The book ratchets up the tension and keeps you in suspense the entire time.

“The Angel” is the third novel in the “DS Imogen Grey” series and was released in the year 2017. There is a body found in a disused signal box, and suspicion falls on Gabriel Webb, a lonely teenager. No doubt, he was at the crime scene, but does he actually deserve what is waiting for him in prison?

DS Imogen Grey is sure there is more to this case than meets the eye. As she fights to convince those around her of the truth, DS Adrian Miles, her partner, is distracted by demons of his own.

A brutal double murder gets reported, and their investigation gets stopped dead in its tracks. Is the body in the box even who they originally believed it was? The duo figure out Gabriel may have been locked up for a crime he is innocent of. With enemies watching every move Gabriel makes, they could be too late.

Katerina delivers a novel that has more mature writing and she has settled into a groove with some well-established characters, especially in how the relationship between Grey and Miles has developed. The novel is captivating, well paced, and emotive, and was another gripping read in this series. Some feel that by this point, Grey and Miles are just as familiar to them as members of their families.

“The Promise” is the fourth novel in the “DS Imogen Grey” series and was released in the year 2017. Nobody can protect you from your past.

A young woman is discovered having been strangled in her own bedroom, DS Imogen Grey and DS Adrian Miles are pulled right into an investigation to locate a twisted serial murderer who likes dating his victims before killing them.

Determined to put a stop to the horrible deaths, Imogen has to act as bait, but is she going to get caught in the trap she has set? While the hunt for the killer ramps up, attention falls on the odd new guy in town. Why is he watching his neighbors through the windows? Is the truth closer to home than any one of them realize?

Fans of the series found this to be another great read in this series, with this one being quite clever and rather dark. Readers were hooked on this one right from the start and were captivated up until the end. The characters were engaging and well-defined, and the book is well-written and features a fantastic mystery. Katerina Diamond leads her readers on very secretive and twisted journey, and keeping her readers guessing the entire time.
