Katharine Kerr
Author Katharine Kerr was born in Cleveland, Ohio in the year 1944. In the year 1962, she moved to the San Francisco Bay Area where she has lived since.

Katharine describes her inability to spell properly using either the American or British systems to be the result of having been taught to read only from British books.

She spent time studying at Stanford University, however he dropped out during the mid-sixties. Then she worked some low-paying jobs, including some work at a post office.

In the year 1973, she met Howard Kerr, an friend from secondary school, and they got married during that same year.

In the year 1979, a friend gave Katharine her first fantasy-role playing game. It led her to a fascination with the fantasy and gaming field, which led to her writing articles for some gaming magazines. She spent some time as a contributing editor to Dragon magazine and contributed to the gaming modules for both Chaosium and TSR, Inc.

Katharine has extensively read in the fields of classical archeology, and dark ages and medieval literature and history, and these influences are obvious in her work. The epic Deverry series has won her widespread praise and many fans all around the world.

She writes science fiction, fantasy, and urban fantasy novels. She writes the “Deverry” series and all its spinoffs and the “Nola O’Grady” series, as well as some stand alone novels.

“License to Ensorcell” is the first novel in the “Nola O’Grady” series, and was released in the year 2011. Nola O’Grady, a psychic agent, is unsure that going back to San Francisco, and living close to her odd family, is at all a good idea. Her job, where she works with a psychic agency that is so obscure even the CIA is not aware it exists, is perilous, and she is afraid of the relatives becoming involved.

The Agency sticks her with the Israeli secret agent Ari Nathan, and now she has a bigger problem on her hands, since compromise and tact are not Ari’s strong suits. Their mission is to find a serial killer that is obsessed with werewolves. He sees them all over the place and shoots whenever he thinks he sees one. Ari just assumes the guy’s psychotic, however in truth he is murdering real werewolves. Nola would know. Pat, her younger brother and a lycanthrope, was the very first victim.

Can Ari’s skill with guns and Nola’s psychic talents keep them alive, just long enough to unravel this greater mystery that is behind the killings? Will they save the werewolves as well as the world while stopping Nola’s family from running right into the danger?

Fans of the novel enjoyed the world building Katharine puts together and like the magic system she sets up. Each one of her characters in this are all likable. Even the setting of San Francisco is brought to life extremely well. Readers were so captivated by this one, they cannot wait to jump right into the others as well.

“Water to Burn” is the second novel in the “Nola O’Grady” series, and was released in the year 2011. Just when Nola O’Grady believes she has it all.

Nola’s the new head of the San Francisco branch of the Agency. What is more, for some strange reason, Interpol has assigned Ari Nathan, her lover, to her brand new bureau as her permanent “bodyguard”.

Every place she looks she is seeing a Chaos manifestation spying on her. Some inexplicable “rogue waves” are sweeping innocents into a watery death before she is able to save them. She has got two increasingly dangerous searches on hand, for Rob Ezekiel, who is the supposedly dead prophet from Ari’s past, and for the “Brother Belial”, the head of the Chaos cult they managed to take down.

To finish things off, her brother Michael drags Ari and Nola into his attempt to rescue his own girlfriend from the radioactive alternate dimension. How Nola is supposed to serve the forces of Harmony and keep the balance between Order and Chaos when she is unable to keep her own family under control?

Readers were up until very late trying to finish this one up and it is an immensely satisfying read.

“Apocalypse to Go” is the third novel in the “Nola O’Grady” series, and was released in the year 2012. The Apocalypse Squad is now on the move.

Nola O’Grady has got enough trouble on her hands at the moment when a were-leopard accuses her of taking stolen property, but things quickly get even worse. There is a mysterious trans-world law enforcement group hopes to recruit her bodyguard and partner, Ari. His new loyalties could jeopardize their whole entire relationship.

Her younger brother Michael goes hunting for their missing dad and lands himself and Sean, their brother, in a big world of trouble, quite literally, in this dangerous and deviant-world version of San Francisco.

Will Ari and Nola be able to find both of them in time to save them from their kidnappers before they get murdered? The search is going to lead them through a city of secrets, but the worst secret of all is lurking at the core of the only thing Nola loves even more than Ari: her family.

“Love on the Run” is the fourth novel in the “Nola O’Grady” series, and was released in the year 2012. Nola is sick and tired of the psychic squid-images that follows her everywhere, waving their tentacles and just making general nuisances of themselves. She and Ari, have got a dangerous job on their hands, as they have to hunt down two criminals that escaped into a whole other level of the multiverse, the San Francisco of Terra Six.

Terrorists have transformed parts of the city into a deathtrap which involves religious fanatics, sure, but from which religion? Nola suspects that it is the Peacock Angel Chaos cult lies right behind the bombings and some mass murders. While gathering evidence, she finds herself facing off against part of her own personal past that she would much rather prefer to bury forever.

By the way, who is it that is trying to kill her?
