The Animorphs series is meant for children and teens and was turned into a show for television that did quite well and had its own line of action figures released where kids can have the Animorphs ‘morph’ into their animal forms. There have been several spinoffs on television and print.
She is also the author of the Ocean City series. The first book in this series is titled Ocean City and it came out in 1993. The book was quickly followed by Love Shack and then Firewalks, Boardwalk, Heat Wave, Bonfire, Swept Away, and more. The series focuses on a series of young women that are looking for love. With the cool ocean air and the romantic summer nights, will they find what they are looking for or leave disappointed?
Making Waves is the debut novel in the Making Waves series by accomplished author K.A. Applegate. It focuses on the main character Kate Quinn, who is a teenager that has recently graduated from high school. She had the best summer of her life planned that was going to let her finally take advantage of what she wants to do and pursue it.
Kate has an internship and is planning to go to the Safe Seas Marine Conservation this summer. Not only will she get a crash course that sets her up to get her dream job later, she’ll also be enjoying the best in beachside accommodations. It’s nice to wake up and take your morning sunshine in with the sound of the waves and a fresh ocean breeze.
Kate thought that this summer and the internship would be the perfect way to not only prepare herself for the future but let go of the past too. Little does Kate foresee that she would be joined by her best friend at the last minute. Chelsea is all but ruining her friends for a quiet summer. She really loves Chelsea, but her friend can be really loud.
But even though she adjusts to the sudden change in plans, Kate finds that she has another obstacle to overcome. She thought she was going to have a summer of renewal, but it’s turning out to be a summer of stress as she loses the dorm room that she thought she was going to be luxuriating in. The beachside accommodations disappear in an instant.
Now she and her friend are forced to put their life savings into renting an apartment. Worse, it has five bedrooms to it. They’re going to have to find at least three more people to be their roommates and fill up the rooms. That’s going to be its own challenge. Besides filling up the apartment rooms, Kate and Chelsea also have to deal with the fact that there’s someone living next door that they know from the past.
It turns out that Justin Garrett is the guy living in the adjoining boathouse. He was the lifeguard that Kate met last summer. Ever since then, Kate’s been doing her best to try and forget about Justin. But it turns out that the task may be more challenging than she anticipated.
Kate decides she’s just going to try and avoid him and keep her head down and find new roommates. But will the handsome lifeguard prove more of a draw than she’s ready for? You’re going to have to pick up Making Waves by K.A. Applegate in order to find out!
Tease is the second book in the Making Waves series. Kate is back and has recovered from her crazy summer that she and her best friend Chelsea experienced together. She’s had to confront ghosts from her past but is really happy when she gets the chance to stay at a beach house. It looks like the oceanside accommodations are finally coming through.
Kate’s father doesn’t exactly approve of the idea and even calls the house a love shack. That’s not exactly true, but it’s not so far off the mark either. There is a lot of hooking up and romance going on. Couples are happening everywhere you look.
But will these hookups pay off, or turn into a flighty coincidence, and can Kate find anyone that she’s interested in, or will this summer be a dud? Pick up Tease and read it for yourself to find out!
