Katherine Webb is one of the noteworthy authors from The United Kingdom, who is famous for writing her books based on the fiction, contemporary, and historical fiction genres. She has written a number of successful standalone novels in her writing career. Author Webb was born in the year 1977 in Kent. She spent most of her time while growing up in the rural Hampshire. After finishing her high school graduation, Webb went on to study History at the Durham University. She says that history has remained like a passion in her life. Author Webb likes to develop her character-led suspense and mystery dramas with the historical settings very often. She never feels afraid to experiment and loves to explore new things in her life and career. Author Webb feels excited to find out how the past events can turn out in the current times. She also feels fascinated from the wide gray areas in the human behavior and morality. The debut book written by her was published under the title of ‘The Legacy’. It was voted as Best Read of the Summer by the viewers’ choice in 2010. The book also helped author Webb to get nominated for an award in the category of the Best Debut Writer during the national awards ceremony organized in the same year. Riding high with such a huge success in the initial stage of her career, author Webb went on to write a few more standalone books. The next 3 books that she wrote subsequently after the success of her first book were all listed as bestsellers in the list of top ten Sunday Times bestsellers. All the books that author Webb has written have been published and translated into as many as 24foreign languages all over the world. With the purpose of searching the background for developing her novels, author Webb spent some time in cities like Venice and London. Currently, she has a permanent residence in Berkshire, England. Before starting her career as a writer, she has worked for numerous odd jobs as a personal assistant, waitress, bookbinder, au pair, library assistant, housekeeper, and potter. Now that she has become a well established author, she devotes all her time towards writing her books. Whatever spare time she gets from her writing job, she likes to spend them in enjoy one or the other hobbies and doing research works for her next books.

One of the most successful books written by Katherine Webb is entitled ‘The Night Falling’. It was released by the Orion publication in the year 2014. Author Webb has described the central characters in this novel as Leandro Cardetta, Ettore, Claire, and Boyd Kingsley. The plot is set in Puglia at the time of the year 1921. Leandro Caardetta, who is born in a poor family, migrates to America in order to earn money and make a fortune. After a few years, he returns to his hometown in Italy as a wealthy man. He also brings his wife named Marcie along with him. Marcie is shown as a former showgirl in her middle age. As he becomes rich, Leandro becomes capable of hiring the renowned architect from England named Boyd Kingsley to renovating his crumbling palazzo an turning it equivalent to his high status. On one fine day in summer, he hosts the teenage son of Boyd as well as his second wife named Claire. But, behind the luxurious style of living of Leandro Cardetta, tensions begin to rise higher. The veterans who were involved in the Great War are found desperate for food and work. One among them is the nephew of Leandro named Ettore. He appears to be in a deep grief after losing his fiancee, Livia.

Ettore sworn to identify the killer of Livia and take revenge. People suggest him to visit Leandro for help and charity, but he feels too proud to do so. However, when an injury grips him badly, he is not able to think of anything but to go to his uncle. Things begin to change when Erotta meets Claire at his uncle’s palazzo. He begins to develop feelings for the young and sensual Claire, but fears that it would become difficult if Boyd finds about it. Claire too seems attracted towards Ettore and wishes that he make her his own forever. Because of the presence of Claire, Ettore forgets all the sorrows of his life, including the murder of his Livia. He begins to seem Claire as a soother, who brings happiness in his life. All these lives come to converge at the time of the fierce summer of the year 1921. The readers get to know what Leandro did in America, which helped him to become so rich. Also, they learn about the hold that he has over Boyd. As the novel approaches its end, the readers find that hearts get broken and blood gets spilled as the hardest lessons of life are learned.

Another exciting book written by Webb is titled as ‘The English Girl’. It was released in 2014. Author Webb has introduced the main characters in this story as Joan Seabrook, Rory, and Maude Vickery. Set during the 1950s Arabia, the book shows Joan Seabrook as a renowned archaeologist. She becomes successful in fulfilling her dream of visiting Arabia and visits the old Muscat city along with Rory, her fiancee. Joan seems desperate to overcome her personal tragedy and thinks of exploring the Jabrin fort. She intends to unearth the vast treasures which are believed to be concealed under the fort. Joan finds that Oman is a hard and secretive land. As violent upheaval seems certain, Joan feels that it would be impossible for her to get permission for exploring Jabrin. Her disappointment gets alleviated due to the thrill of the chance to meet a pioneering explorer named Maude Vickery, who is her childhood idol. She longs to hear the exciting stories as an archaeologist in person from Maude. The encounter of Joan with the reclusive and extraordinary Maude Vickery seems to change everything for Joan. Both of them appear to have secrets they want to be kept hidden and things they wish to acquire as soon as possible. As the friendship of the two women continues to grow, Maude’s stories begin to seduce Joan. The situation begins to go out hand so much so that it becomes very late for Joan Seabrook to question the actions. This leads to sparking a disastrous and wild events chain.
