Writing mystery and suspense novels tinged with a hint of romance, the American author Kathleen Bridge has been writing for quite some time now. Creating the ‘Hampton Home and Garden Mysteries’ she has established herself as a firm favorite for many readers worldwide. Not only that, but she has also contributed to a number of publications throughout the years too, building an impressive profile for herself in the process.

Early and Personal Life

Born in El Paso in Texas in the United States, Kathleen Bridge harbored a keen interest in the written word from a young age. Growing up in the area, she took in a lot from her surrounding environment ever since she was a young child. This was later fed back into her work, as she continually used her inspiration as a way of developing her and her writing style.

Gaining an education at the Michigan State University, she was soon well on her way to learning all the tools of her craft. This also allowed her to provide her writing career with an academic backbone, allowing her to find her voice in the process. Taking her learning experiences here, she went on to build her style and her tone, creating a unique and idiosyncratic outlook in the process.

Starting out by working for the Michigan State University News during her time in East Lansing, she began her writing career in Michigan. With a keen interest in antiques as well, having dealt with it in the past, this is also something that came to weigh heavily on her career as an author. Understanding the past whilst maintaining an in-depth knowledge of history, her works have proven the be accurate over the course of her career as well.

Still writing to this day, she currently lives in Long Island in New York City, where she also continues to deal in antiques. Knowing a lot about vintage memorabilia too, she is definitely the person to turn to when looking for information on history. As her writing career grows from strength-to-strength, so too does her readership and this is something that won’t be stopping anytime soon.

Writing Career

Releasing her first book in 2015 the author Kathleen Bridge made her début on to the literary scene with the title ‘Better Homes and Corpses’. Set very much in the mystery and suspense genre, with a bit of romance in there too, she has made a highly-regarded name for herself in a relatively short amount of time. Not only that, but she has also managed to create a series off the back of her first initial novel release as well.

With her ‘Hamptons Home and Garden Mysteries’ series of novels, she has quickly established her presence as a mystery novelist. Despite this being her only franchise so far, there’s still a lot more potential for her to expand on her backlog of work as an author. In the series itself, though, she has three titles so far and counting, as she’s expected to build upon it as time goes on.

Receiving a whole host of awards over the years, Kathleen Bridge is not only a commercial success, but a critical one too. As a best-selling author, she has gone on to become recognized and appreciated by both her many peers and contemporaries. Reaching a worldwide audience on an international scale, she has managed to appeal on a universal level through her work.

An active member of a number of organizations, she has become a keen participant in a variety of writing groups. Speaking through a whole host of different platforms and forums, she is a clear advocate for both her craft and her genre. With membership in groups such as ‘Mystery Writers of America’ and ‘Sisters in Crime’, she has also taught in creative writing classes across America.

Continuing to write to this very day, she has a lot more to come as an author of modern and contemporary mystery novels. Combining engaging characters with in-depth storylines, she uses her wit to tell timeless stories that appeal on a universal level. With a lot more to come yet, there’s plenty on the horizon as her writing career carries on into the foreseeable future.

Hearse and Gardens

First published in 2016 on the 3rd of May, this was originally brought out on through the Berkley publishing house. Making up the second in the ongoing ‘Hamptons Homes and Gardens Mysteries’ series, it provides another case to be solved. Meg, an interior designer living in the Hamptons, is trying to keep her mind off of the ensuing legal battle facing her after attempting to purchase an ocean-front property. That’s when she agrees to assist her friend with clearing out the large and wealthy Montauk estate and run an inventory on everything valuable. When they find a literal skeleton in a hidden room within one of the bungalows there, they find out they’ve got a bit more on their hands. Where did the skeleton come from? How did it get there? What will they find within the hearse and gardens?

Ghostal Living

Initially brought out in 2017 on the 2nd of May, this novel was released approximately one year after the previous title in the series. With the first ever Sag Harbor Antiquarian Book and Ephemera Fair coming up very soon, Meg Barrett has been busy. As an interior designer, she needs to get the Bibliophile Bed and Breakfast ready for Franklin Hollingsworth, a wealthy collector of rare books. That’s when a rare copy of an unpublished F. Scott Fitzgerald is rumored to be in his possession and, following that, a body is found at the base of the cliffs thought to be in connection to it. Will she be able to find the real killer? Just who is behind it all? What happens to those who find themselves ghostal living?
