About Kathleen Brooks

The American author Kathleen Brooks is a master of suspense, building a lingering air of tension over the course of her novels. Largely focusing on romance for many of her books, she is a gifted writer who has gone on to achieve huge international success worldwide. This has allowed her to create a number of series too, many of which have also amassed a large community of fans both online as well as off.

Early and Personal Life

Born and raised in Nicholasville, Kentucky, Kathleen Brooks would grow up with a keen love for the written word. Attending Centre College she would gain a B.A., before going on to graduate from the University of Kentucky College of Law, with her J.D. This would provide her with the foundations that she needed to continue with her career, building upon her love of writing the whole time.

Prior to becoming a full-time writer she would go into private practice, all the while working on honing and refining her skills as a novelist. She would also advocate for animals too, supporting a number of not-for-profit rescue organizations, whose aim is to provide assistance to pets and canines. All of this has gone back into her work over the years as well, as she continues to write from her house Central Kentucky, where she lives with her husband and daughter.

Writing Career

Producing over thirty titles and counting, the award winning author Kathleen Brooks has been publishing books for quite some time now. Reaching the top of the bestseller lists on numerous occasion, she has managed to find herself at the top of the Wall Street Journal, along with the New York Times, as well as USA Today. Known for her unique brand of romantic suspense novel, she has found her audience, reaching and resonating with readers from all across the globe.

Bringing out her first novel back in 2011, she would make her big debut on to the scene with the title ‘Bluegrass State of Mind’, which was the first in the ‘Bluegrass’ series of books too. Later that same year she brought out two sequels titled ‘Risky Shot’ and ‘Dead Heat’, and she would also bring out the spin-off series the ‘Bluegrass Brothers’ the following year as well. Continuing to write to this day, she carries on building upon her work, putting her novels out at an ever regular and consistent pace.

Relentless Pursuit

First published on the Kindle, this was all set to be the fourth in the ‘Bluegrass Brothers’ series of books, with it being published on the 20th of May in 2013. Setting up its own stand-alone story, it follows on from the others, with the series itself following on from the original ‘Bluegrass’ series. This would later be followed up with ‘Bluegrass Singles’, along with the ‘Forever Bluegrass’ series of books as well, all fitting into one complete franchise.

Working as part of a spin-off franchise, this effectively follows a group of brothers, as they each have their own respective relationships. Seeing how they interact with one another, each separate title manages to stand on its own, providing its own romantic stand-alone story. It does bring something over for the long-term fans of the series and world though, providing elements from the other titles. This can include the arcs of some of the other characters, as Brooks builds on the world as a whole, giving it deeper meaning and a sense of vibrancy too.

With all of his elder siblings falling in love, Pierce Davies is now one of the most eligible standing bachelors in the area, something that he was unprepared for. Living the playboy lifestyle in Keeneston, he seems to have it all, as he makes his life his ultimate work, with him soon being set to unveil one big secret. Soon, though, he finds that he’s been arrested for a horribly brutal murder, as it seems that all the given evidence is currently pointing to him and him alone. Stepping up to help him is one Tammy Fields, a para-legal with a lifelong crush on Pierce, as she begins to find that her crush may run even deeper than she initially expected. Will she be able to prove his innocence and save the day? Can they ever hope to truly be an item? What will become of them both after her relentless pursuit?

Destined for Power

Brought out through the ‘Lauren’s Publishing’ outlet initially, this would first come out on the 31st of March in 2015. Marking the fourth title in the ‘Women of Power’ series of novels, this would follow on from the last with another stand-alone action romance title. Connected to each other thematically mostly, the series does have elements from each other loosely coming into each and every story.

Combining action and romance, this is a story that really has it all, bringing into focus a whole wealth of different ideas and themes. With its leading protagonist of Mallory Westin, it is a series that truly does live up to its name and title, creating a strong character arc throughout. Set in a world of power and politics, it draws the reader in, immersing them into this otherwise unseen place, with all of its various characters. Providing a feeling of escapism, it also has something to say, showing Brooks clearly at the peak of her own powers as a writer of compelling literature.

Born into the heart of power, Mallory Westin has put her family behind her, looking to forge her own future, as she now owns her very own security firm. Soon, though, she’s dragged back into it all, as her very own father, a politician, is pulled into an assassination plot, leading to a man she loves being potentially targeted. Looking to build his casino and resort, Reid Simpson hopes to put the past behind him, especially that of Mallory breaking his heart, but now he faces danger it is up to her to help protect him. Working together they must deal with the threat of the assassination plot, all whilst attempting to put the past completely behind them. Will they be able to do that though? Can they stop the assassination before it’s too late? Who is destined for power?
