Katie Berry is a Canadian author of thriller novels. Katie was born and raised in Ottawa, Ontario, and moved west to British Columbia during this family migration which occurred during the latter half of the 20th century.

Katie, a voracious reader and a longtime writer, enjoys a variety of recreational and creative activities when she’s not all absorbed in the written word. Katie’s favorite part of being a writer is the satisfaction of telling a story and finding out that there are other people out there that want to read and enjoy it too. She is inspired by the world around her and the things which fascinate her.

She has many years of keyboard experience behind her, and is an avid digital musician, involved in many stage and musical theatre productions in the beautiful West Kootenay region of BC.

Having an eye for detail helps Katie capture many magical moments with her camera while she interprets the natural beauty of the world which surrounds her through its lens.

Katie is an accomplished sketch artist, since she is always looking for something new to advance her artistic experimentation. She specializes in detailed drawings of family, friends, and clients, which includes fur babies, like dogs, cats, and the odd ferret.

After a lifetime of experience in numerous fields, she spends her days, and most of her nights, doing what she truly loves: bringing stories alive for people that enjoy a story where the everyday suddenly becomes something so much more.

The clock strikes twelve, a cheer goes up and the music swells, streamers swirl, and balloons drop. Then the darkness descends. Fifteen seconds later, the power comes back and every single living soul inside the ballroom has disappeared, never being seen again.

The investigation led by RCMP Chief Inspector John Harder turns up zero trace of these missing patrons and the resort is then shuttered for forty years. Contacted by some enigmatic holding company which is looking to reopen the resort, preternatural investigator Lively Deadmarsh and Minerva, his psychic twin sister, are brought in to solve this decades-old mystery for good.

While they explore this hotel, they find things are not at all what they appear and that this hotel is far from abandoned. They quickly find that should they fail in their investigation, they might just become a part of the mystery forever.

Some questions are answered finally, yet others arise as Minerva and Lively find that the Sinclair Resort Hotel to be far more than it appears. In a bold effort to uncover more about what happened over forty years prior, the two formulate a plan which is either going to doom them entirely or help them immensely.

Chief Inspector John Harder continues his official investigation to peel back the intricate web of mystery that surrounds the Sinclair Incident. Along the way, he learns that he might have a much greater role to play in things than he had initially believed and the stakes are far more personal than he could’ve ever imagined.
