Author Kel Kade lives in Texas and serves as an adjunct college faculty member on occasion, inspiring young minds and introducing them to the very real and fascinating world of geosciences.

Growing up, Kel lived a military lifestyle with distinctive geography and cultures which instilled in her a wanderlust and opened up a young mind to the knowledge that the Earth is wild and expansive. Her deep interest in ancient history, art, languages, music, cultural anthropology, science, and spirituality is evidenced by the richness and diversity of the cultures and places portrayed in her writing.

She worked as an environmental consultant before she entered into a doctoral program with research in big data studies of volcanic rock geochemistry and marine research in the Izu-Bonin-Mariana and Central America volcanic arcs.

Her hobbies include developing criminal empires, plotting the downfall of tyrannous rulers, creating universes that span space and time, and diving into fantastical mysteries.

Kel was thinking about the things that she’d liked in many of the books that she had read and attempted to incorporate similar subjects into her own writing. She’d actually been writing another series when this other character began continuously interrupting her. The guy was just relentless. So she decided to write him down before she forgot about him, assuming the guy would even let that happen. Thus, Rezkin (and KDT) was born.

“Free the Darkness” is the first novel in the “King’s Dark Tidings” series and was released in 2015. Trained and raised in seclusion at this secret fortress out on the edge of the northern wilds of the Kingdom of Ashai, the young warrior named Rezkin gets thrust unexpectedly into the outworld after a horrible battle destroys everything he knows.

Without any comprehension of his life’s purpose and armed with some masterful weapons that were mysteriously bestowed upon him by this dead king, Rezkin has to travel across Ashai to locate the one guy that just might hold all the clues to his existence.

Rezkin, determined to adhere to his current orders, extends his protection to this unlikely assortment of individuals that he meets along the way, which often leads to poignant and humorous incidents.

As if pursuing an elite warrior across a kingdom, figuring out why everybody he knows is dead and who is, and trying to track down these so called friends and protect them isn’t enough, odd things have been happening in the kingdom. Some new dangers start arising which threaten not just his friends and himself, but also possibly everybody else in Ashai.

“Reign of Madness” is the second novel in the “King’s Dark Tidings” series and was released in 2016. Protector and dedicated friend? Ruthless criminal overlord? The indomitable and mysterious warrior? The Riel’gesh: mythical demigod?

Rezkin, equipped with skills far beyond those of the other outworlders, has been suddenly tossed into a foreign world. This young warrior clings to his only known purpose while continuing to search for any information about his own identity and the reason for his very existence. As this hardened warrior scorns both tournaments and dueling, he believes that some of the answers he’s seeking might just be found at the King’s Tournament, the greatest dueling championship in any of the kingdoms.

While he searches for the elusive Striker Farson, who might just be the one and only person alive that holds the clues, the young warrior and his buddies embark on this journey fraught with intrigue, mystery, and danger.

Amid fears about the kingdom’s economic collapse, rumors about an imminent military draft, and the machinations of a tyrannical and mad king, a new revelation threatens to upend all of the warrior’s plans.

“Fate of the Fallen” is the first novel in the “Shroud of Prophecy” series and was released in 2019. The Shroud of Prophecy tests fate in order to find out what happens when the path of right and good, the triumph of light over the darkness, the only path to salvation fails.

Everybody loves Mathias. So naturally, when he learns that it is his destiny to save the whole world, he dives in head first, and pulls Aaslo, his best friend, along for the ride.

Mathias is simply thrilled for this adventure. There is nothing better than a road under his feet and adventure in the air. Aaslo, however, has never cared too much for the world beyond the borders of his sleepy little village and he would be a lot happier alone and in the woods. However, somebody must keep the Chosen One’s head on his shoulders and his feet planted on the ground.

Turns out that saving the world is not as easy, or even as exciting, as it sounds in all the stories. Mathias is more than willing to place his life on the line, however Aaslo would love nothing more than to just forget all about all the talk of magical fae creatures and arcane bloodlines. When the going gets rough, people begin believing that their only chance for surviving is to just surrender to the forces of evil, which is not how all the stories have been told. Not at all. To make things worse, Aaslo is starting to fear that he might’ve lost his mind.

“Mage of No Renown” is the first novel in the “Tales of Terralor” series and was released in 2022. Wesson is still years from becoming a man when this immense darkness begins stirring within his core. The sinister power bursts free during this confrontation with a longtime enemy, and his tranquil life is left in ruins.

While forced to flee from a murderous mob, he stumbles across this tumultuous path where he has to confront the destructive power that he has awakened. He has to learn control over the power that he wields or risk getting consumed by it.

As Wesson wrestles with his own training, this hitman stalks his every move. This new foe has been sent by some mysterious foe, one that’ll force Wesson to pick between the kindness that’s in his heart and the seductive power that’s in his own soul.
