Ken Lozito is a bestselling science fiction and fantasy author that is best known for his “First Colony” series of novels.

The novel tells the story of the first-ever interstellar colony established by humanity on a far-off planet. It is a place where some brave people face all manner of challenges in their quest for survival.

Over the years, the author has penned more than two dozen novels. He has become known for writing redemption stories, heroic tales, and uncomplicated and trusted adventure tales with interesting and rich characters.

From tales of the exploration of the universe to first contact stories, Ken Lozito’s novels are compelling works that usually get readers glued from the first page to the last.

Before he became a professional author, Ken had a job in IT and spent more than two decades pursuing his career. When he is not writing his novels, he can usually be found hiking, binge-watching shows on Netflix, playing with his dog, and reading.

Lozito was born in the New York suburb of Lindenhurst in 1974 and never left until he went to college. He attended the University of North Carolina Greensboro from where he graduated a few years later.

Ken always loved to make up all manner of stories whether he was a Jedi in “Star Wars” or a “Viper Pilot” crucial in the operation of a ship in “Battlestar Galactica,” he was always keen for a story.

It was in college that he was introduced to the “Adept” series by Piers Anthony and soon after the Xanth series. From then on, he became hooked on science fiction and fantasy.

In no time, he was done reading all the fantasy and science fiction works at the local library, which meant he started buying his own novels from the income he got as a paperboy.

While he was in middle school, his parents got him a Commodore 64 on which he started penning his short stories. Seeing his passion, his parents soon got him a better computer that came with spellcheck.

He kicked on from there and has shown no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Even though Ken Lozito always loved writing, it was not until she was in college as a teenager that she got started writing. She loved the concept of writing for a living and in 2013 she got tired of procrastinating, even though she did not think being a starving artist was in any way cool.

In 2013, she threw caution to the wind as she vowed to finish writing the manuscript she had started writing about two decades earlier. She had at the time been watching Youtube videos by Brandon Sanderson, who was a Brigham Young University creative writing professor.

At one of the workshops she attended, the speaker mentioned Dean Wesley Smith’s article “Killing the Sacred Cows of Publishing.” This would be an eye-opening moment and in no time at all, she published her debut.

Lozito now has more than two dozen novels in both science fiction and fantasy. It was not long before she realized that she is better at science fiction writing than fantasy and concentrated more on the former.

Ken Lozito’s novel “Genesis” is the story of Connor Grant a future black ops colonel. The man is suckered into attacking the Syndicate, the pervasive organized crime group that may just be the end of his platoon.

The Syndicate is based on the Sol System space station and in his attempt to infiltrate it, Connor triggered a trap. The station is destroyed and millions die even though Connor manages to save half of his platoon.

But he is captured by a Fleet admiral who consigns him to stasis. He is then smuggled into the Ark, a colony ship, and sent on a decades-long journey to go colonize an interstellar planet. Alongside him are 300, 000 humans also placed in stasis.

When he awakens shortly after arrival, he shocks the advance colonial team who were expecting someone else. As a suspect, he needs to prove himself and set up a Search and Rescue unit.

“Nemesis” by Ken Lozito continues to follow the life and times of Connor Gates one of the colonists of a new planet. Connor now heads the large defensive military forces of his new home and has made friends with the police chief despite a rocky start.

He has managed to set up a space defense program that includes 3 orbital spaceships armed with rocket launchers and missiles and a space station. He had tried to strengthen the army but was always denied by Parrish the governor of the New Earth.

While he is out training with the spaceships, he notices an anomaly. It turns out that the blip was the advance force of an ancient enemy that had destroyed planet Earth centuries earlier.

As he battles the enemy, Connor learns that he had nearly been poisoned but his enemy had managed to takeout the ship’s captain instead. The assailant is arrested but he commits suicide.

Connor boards one of the transport ships belonging to their enemy and finds that inside it is a fungus growth that could just destroy their new civilization.

Ken Lozito’s novel “Legacy” tells of how things completely changed when a genetically modified virus was introduced to the New Earth.

This work starts seven years after the introduction of the virus. Since then, the colonists have put in place some measures but it has not been enough. Through robust research, they have come up with an effective way of destroying the virus Venus.

Connor leads a team to the enemy ship as they intend to infect it and the invaders with the dangerous Venus virus. Connor’s assumption is that they are on a suicide mission, particularly when he finds himself trapped and the gloop fungus inexplicably starts talking to him.

It tells him that the cause of their woes is an old enemy who invented the virus to get back at him. Soon after releasing the infection, he blacks out and only wakes up several months after the eve to find himself under quarantine for possible contamination and infection with the dangerous virus.

Luckily, he had been protected from the virus by his suit which kept him alive while the virus raged all around him until it had no victims left and died.
